  1. Specifically Belgians, but also Europeans in general: we feel for you during your time of uncertainty and grief. We share your challenges both on a personal and a political level. I can't imagine what life must be like in the immediate wake of these explosions, but we Americans want to help however we can.
  2. Bumpity bump bump! Nice work, NEEDED BADLY
  3. I am following with interest. I love the Thunder.
  4. Not taking sides but...from one ordinary poster to another, please moderate yourself. I don't know if you know 11Bee from real life, but you really shouldn't act that way on this forum. We are trying to elevate discussion from the pits and this really doesn't help.
  5. I've been thinking of adding this one to my collection as well. I love the Chinese Fishbeds, but mainly because I think they are a special brand of ugly. Yours, however, is looking fantastic! Forgive me if I'm acting like a backseat driver but: Having done a Fishbed or two in my day, I would recommend painting the nosecone and the intake before closing the fuselage. Also, the chromate behind the seat could use another coat.
  6. Not kidding, but I'm not suggesting put EVERYTHING we've ever used, that's still in existence, in permanent storage either. The reason I mentioned the boneyard is because I thought I saw some Broncos there when I visited in 2010. The Bronco is an excellent choice for many of the missions we've had since 2001 and many people rightly recognized the utility of this aircraft in permissible environments. I wouldn't advocate activating B-58s for use in CAS, though we basically do something like it ;) . When I was out there I was a little perplexed about WHY we still have AV-8Cs in storage out there
  7. Is this one for Ho Chi Minh?
  8. Nice work. I hope to see this one finished soon!
  9. I always wondered why the MiG-19s got the grey patterns. It suggests high altitude operation but Egypt had much better options for that.
  10. What are the chances that certain programs are managed by third parties or will be in the future? How will the A-29 defeat all the defenses the OV-10 can't? Or did we finally decide to move past the "too slow to operate safely" phase of, ahem, reasoning? What about the airframes at the bone yard? What use is paying for the bone yard if we aren't able to bring fleets of aircraft back from it?
  11. Is it possible that dropping oil prices have affected Russia's ability to fund its fighting?
  12. I'm really feeling this picture, in all of its yellow-tinted glory. How did you build this model so fast?
  13. Robert Plant has a home in my city so maybe I can uhhhh, hand deliver it? I know he's doing a couple shows out here soon. One of them is going to be live streamed!
  14. Not a bad take, but remember that since the beginning of Iraq in 2003 the US has purposely kept the involvement of contractors vague in order to downplay the real cost of the fighting. If the pilots were still active then who's authority did they fly under? Which unit?
  15. Speaking of rock and roll birds, Iron Maiden's bird just got clipped by a truck.
  16. Dayum homie, that's real shht. Your opinion weighs heavily regarding CAS issues here. Iraq will never be a 'capture the flag' scenario because of ethnic divisions and power politics of ethnic suppression. It is absolutely imperative that we guide but not lead. No Iraqi government, short of a Saddam-style dictatorship, will be able to stand if we keep doing it for them. The Iraqi Civil War continues. I think the one thing against ISIS that could have been done better was putting the petty BS aside when the President asked Congress to support a wider role in Syria, but that boat has sailed. Yo
  17. A Naval Aviator is anybody who got their wings in the Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. That doesn't mean they are still in the active service. They could be retired, or former service, flying as a contractor.
  18. There is so much here.... it's. just. scattered. everywhere. I'm sensing some good topics for Info Wars. Besides, what the Bone does isn't special -- it's just a damn weapons truck with a really expensive loiter time. For the money of just one B-1 mission we could probably requisition everything in the Commemorative Air Force, strap lasers on them, and fire JDAMS and Hellfires until our hearts are content. Hell, I would even consider recruiting Peter Jackson's help with some of his vintage WWI birds after this inspiration. It looks like the Air Force (temporarily) solved some of its F-35
  19. B-36 carries more bombs and has longer loitering time than the B-1. Since we don't need to get close and know what we're shooting at anymore, 82,000 lbs is a whole lotta 2,000 pounders to use in close proximity to those we are trying to protect
  20. I have an idea. We man the new OV-10 Broncos with members of the Denver Broncos... why didn't you think of that before egg heads? I'm betting on way, way less. We will have to dig straight to China to find the bar when this happens. We will probably find pieces of the F-35 when we get there, so hooray for spares! Maybe we should think strategic. Are there any B-36s we can make airworthy again?
  21. At this point neither can an F-35. But seriously, manpads aren't everywhere. The Syrian military and the, erhm, coalition sends out rotary wing aircraft to strike ISIS as well.
