  1. Thanks Tank. I have saved those sites to my fav's. Will be checking into these. Thanks again. Darryl
  2. Thanks for the comment Joel. I did airbrush Future on, then decal and used Micro-sol after the decal set for a minute...then Futured again. I am not sure what I did wrong but I did something. Maybe I let the first Future coat set too long ... around 20-25 minutes, it was a medium coat, not thick or thin. Maybe it was applying the Micro-sol while the Future had not cured. In any case, I have your list copied and pasted to my desktop for future use on my next project. Thanks!! Darryl
  3. Hi tank, I do believe that I read, seen a pic or video of a Sherman with the tracks installed like that. I can`t remember if it was done for some purpose by field units or was just a hasty repair to get rolling again were that detail was over looked. In any case, I did fix the track, if for nothing else but piece of mind. Darryl
  4. Nice work there Joel, very nice. Love the front view, being able to look into the interior. I returned recently from a long break myself, and now learning some new stuff from the members. Welcome back to the art of modeling. Darryl
  5. Yeah, like I said, I could have stared at it all day and not noticed it, once I uploaded the pic, I saw it right away . Will be doing some minor touch up though, as you have suggested. Thanks again!! Darryl
  6. Thanks for the comments Fortress. I must say, I had such fun doing this, and seeing the final result makes all the work worth while. With practice I hope to get as good as some of the people on here. But I have a lot to learn, 15+ years has left me rusty and I need to catch up on the new techniques available now. I need to learn quite a bit to catch up to today's standards of scale modeling that I see posted here and on other sites. Phenomenal and outstanding work by some very talented and creative people. Darryl PS: I fixed the track that was on backwards.
  7. First model in 15+ years people. Turned out okay, but the decals caused me some problems as you will see. Still need to knock some rust off my hands and my brain to learn some of these new techniques I am reading about. Anyway, lets have a look. Just hope I can post these pics properly. ' Nope didn't work out. Trying again. And of course, the diorama layout it will eventually be set in, this layout is not final yet, I am still pondering a good idea for it. Its Normandy, June 1944 and the allies are pushing to St. Lo. I was mulling over the idea of doing my Dragon Kit 6127 (Hed
  8. I did as you instructed, started with the XF-62 then lightened slightly....worked out nicely ( I think, not back to par yet after so long a break from modelling). As this Sherman is going into a diorama I Went heavier on the lower hull with earth colors with the air gun, suspension and lightened slightly with each step I went up. I also used flat earth (XF-52) and lightened it slightly as well, this I sprayed on the suspension in hopes to give the impression of heavier dirt on the lower parts. The upper hull, gun mantle etc I dry brushed using Buff (XF-57) darkened with Khaki (XF-49) .. l
  9. Thanks for the tip! I have started with a flat black by model master myself, it has dried now for about 3 days. Today, I start painting the different shades of Tamyia colors. Hopefully I can achieve the same results as you have. Darryl
  10. If ya don't mind sharing, what was your painting process for the Sherman? Did you start with a flat black base, then progress through the drab colors from dark to lighter shades? Any tips you can give would be a great help. Darryl
  11. The phrase "as is" means "buyer beware" and does not disclaim express warranties, such as those created by the seller's description of an item. In other words, the item may be sold "as is," but if the item does not conform to the seller's description, the buyer has a right to reject it. If the seller gave any description to the condition of the item before purchase and the received condition is not accurate to the sellers description then you have the right to reject. "As is" is vague at best and is best left alone as it favors the seller against fraud for selling defective, damaged property
  12. Bump.....some good stuff here for sale folks. PS: money sent for the Abrams...can't wait to start that project! Darryl
  13. Indeed some good choices, especially since he knows nothing about models other than the work that goes into them. I was pleased. He would have to replaced the models with snaptite kits for me to go all Judge Judy on him . Darryl
  14. Indeed, I have a boy age 14 now, and 2 girls ages 11 and 5. The youngest of the4 group likes to look at the models, but does not touch, she was taught not to, as were the others. Actually, the 11 year old girl wants to start modelling as her mother does (autos and figures). I was peeved , so was my friend, his kids are well behaved and they just thought they were toys and didn't mean to break them. Since earlier today my friend has replaced those models with 2 more. He couldn't find the exact models I had but instead purchased a Dragon Models 1/35 M4A3E8 THUNDERBOLT IV kit to replace
  15. I recently got reacquainted with a big rule of thumb with modelling. "Wether it be during construction, after construction or on display, keep your models out of harms way." The room I use while building, painting etc my models is usually secure, locked if I am not present. Well, yesterday, my visiting friends brought their children over too (two boys ages 4 and 6). Sometime during the day, I must have entered said room and left without locking the door. The horror that ensued I did not bare witness to, but I did find the carnage left behind by the invading force ....my Revel of Germany
  16. As of now, since I have just returned to modelling: Ships armor military aircraft military Figures sci-fi Automotive Just recently purchased the Cylon Raider from the newer BSG series (have the Viper MKII and MKVII on order) and have the Fibre Optic ST Enterprise. Only have a small stash of 35 kits of various genres atm but its growing each week . Darryl
  17. Email sent regarding Tamiya 1:35 MM24A M1 Abram Tank. Darryl
  18. I have been looking for them but no luck yet in any hobby store in my area (Newfoundland). I am interested in trying them out, if I am unable to get any in these parts, I will order online. Please post if you do find a store that stocks them. Darryl
  19. Outstanding work. I am currently building the M4 as well, the Tamiya (early production) M4. Hope mine turns out as good as yours. Darrryl
  20. Was planning on mounting it on a 8 ton semi-track Sdkfz.7/1, the hobby store near me doesn't have one in stock so I have to order it online. Either that or it will be placed into a diorama with some other small kits I have. I will take more pics in better lighting and repost later this weekend or early next week. Heading out of town atm. Darryl
  21. Yeah I realized that the flash never worked on the camera. The lighting in the house is rather low, guess I am better off taking the pics during daytime with the flash would get better results. Thanks for the comments, on the bench now is the Tamiya 1:35th M4 Sherman (early production) item 35190. Thanks for any feedback. Darryl
  22. Please comment, good or bad I would like to hear what you think. It is my first model in over 15 years and find myself returning with a new love for the art of modelling. Hope you enjoy. And thanks for any advice and feedback you can give. Darryl
  23. Finished this Tamiya model yesterday while waiting for another to dry. Please feel free to comment, good or bad, I need to know if there are things that I could be doing to better my endgame.
  24. I will be using Future from this point onward. Just wanted to use that last bit of testors clear gloss. My bench is a bit crowded atm. Thanks gents for the help. Darryl
