  1. Incredible work Marcel! That resin looks to be top notch.... Guess I'll have to add a Phantom II to my stash as well :thumbsup:/> /Jesse
  2. I just remembered... i wouldn't attempt to do a wash with a flat coat on either! The wash will be VERY difficult to remove! I apologize if you already know this... Another tip is that you can mix the Flory black & light dirt washes to get grey. HTH /Jesse
  3. Looks great Steve! I like yer meticulous approach to painting.... Sanding and polishing is the key to a smooth silky finish which you have achieved... As for the decal film, it is very difficult when using decals over black paint. I would say that the outcome is as good as it gets especially considering that the decals did not silver on you! I would maybe try a dark grey pastel wash and use a slightly lighter grey wash for the rest of this beast! /Jesse
  4. Cheers Patrick! I am flattered that you will use this as a reference Thank you black_widow! I will keep pushing on :rolleyes:/> Hello Rich, thanks for yer warm comments! LOL I'm sure the musician (Fred) that donated these strings would know.... All I know is this particular string is a .033 inch diameter bronze round-wound acoustic string. I was torn between this or the .041 in. but I think it looks just fine as is. He also donated steel strings, but it was impossible to pull the center core wire out :explode:/>. Thanks Marcel, good to hear from you! Believe me brother, this wa
  5. Great deals Jake! Just ordered a few of yer legendary books :thumbsup:/> /Jesse
  6. Thanks Chuck! Yer a smart man, opting out of the "little men" duty! My next build will NOT include the pilot's, I've had enough of these guy's for an eternity :lol:/> Thanks USMC6094 I appreciate yer feedback sir! Thank you Steve :D/>
  7. Decided to give a little attention to the sidewall's. Just added the floodlight's and the canopy jettison lever's.... Nothing major, since this most likely will not be seen anyway. BTW, if anyone has pics of the front IP coaming it would be much appreciated! So there you have it... I haven't abandoned the Mudhen, but it's the first time since I started modeling that I just needed to take a break! I would sit down and look at the O2 hoses for about a minute and decide i wasn't in the mood.... Good thing this is a hobby, and not a job.... Thanks for tuning in, if it weren't for these forum
  8. Good morning folks, been a few weeks since my last update and I must admit that I needed a little break as the seatbelts and hoses were getting to be a real PITA ;)/> Fortunately I was able to come back with a fresh mind set and a bit of will-power to finish this part of the build! I hate to bore you all to tears with the tub & pilot's, but hopefully i can finish the cockpit and move on with life.... It's been a long road up til now and at this rate the build might get finished by 2015 B)/> "Punch list" to close up front fuselage as follows: -Finish painting side walls. -Detai
  9. I say the nose strut weathering looks fantastic John as does the chrome on the oleo strut :thumbsup:/> Welcome back, it's gonna be a loooooooong winter! I can smell the Adversary paint flying already, good luck! /Jesse
  10. Bravo Chuck :clap2:/> well deserved!!! It's fun to watch the entire build process then to finally see the build put through the printing press and onto the magazine stands... Mission accomplished! Looking forward to reading the article and keep up the great work on the Hog buddy :cheers:/> /Jesse
  11. Thanks Marcel! Things like that tape recorder are hard to pick out.... I must've looked over Jake's book a million times before I noticed that it was there and not molded into the kit part side console! Thanks Conzo! Welcome to ARC, it's a great community :thumbsup:/> Thanks Jman! Fortunately we have Geedubelyer's WIP from 2006 Geedub's famous Strike thread Thanks rom :cheers:/> Thank you E! Today is my last day of work "hopefully for at least a month", I have finished my kitchen remodel project for swmbo and the last 2 night's, was able to sit down and do some modeling. I am
  12. Wow Elmo, great work, you are THE master :worship:/> I respect your ability to take all of those precise measurements on the piping and tubing runs.... Not easy to do when we are talking about hundredths/thousandths of an inch! I must ask how you make the bends with styrene rod? I tried it once under boiling water, but it would not soften up enough to make the bend... Once again, amazing attention to detail and your scratch work is second to none :thumbsup:/> /Jesse
  13. What a beauty to say the least :thumbsup:/> One of the best Strike's I've seen! You've really given the Revell kit some tlc.... The weathering is just fantastic as well! You've inspired me to keep going on my Mudhen build.... Thanks for sharing! /Jesse
  14. Jeez, it just keeps getting better & better.... and those SUU-23's look the "real deal" !!!!!! The best part is that when you finish up the airframe, the ordnance will be ready to hang :thumbsup:/> /Jesse
  15. Great to have you back Chuck! I agree with Marcel, how you can keep this high standard on a nightmarish build is amazing and I might add that your problem solving skills are something that I take with me every time I click on one of your threads! Thank you and I look forward to lots of progress :thumbsup:/> /Jesse
  16. Oh my... My goodness :o/> The paint & weathering of the gear bays is simply astonishing! The Trumpeter A-10 is on the NOT to do list, and now the Harrier as well :doh:/> /Jesse
  17. WOW! That is a stunning Super Bug :thumbsup:/> Fantastic build and craftsmanship :cheers:/> /Jesse
  18. Genius approach to scratch building Marcel :worship:/> The plastic channels piggy-backed is a great & simple idea :thumbsup:/> Can't wait til this stuff is available for us to purchase! /Jesse
  19. Hi Mike. Glad to see that yer Viper is coming along gorgeously :thumbsup:/> I love the result of the have glass mix you've created! Keep up the great work. /Jesse
  20. Great looking pit Clif! The RIO's coaming looks the part /> I am indeed flattered, but I can't take any credit for the glove gaskets (which you've done a great job on), since I borrowed the mod idea from Anders Isaakson's Hobby Boss thread... Good luck ! /Jesse
  21. Hello Simon. That camo really looks great on your A400! Now if I ever see a real one, I'm gonna be very disappointed with the usual Gray ;)/> All around great job, definitely worth "making room" for this mammoth! /Jesse
  22. Wow Marcel! I see you've been busy.... Great scratch on the CBU, you've always been such a master when it comes to load-out (and pretty much all aspects of building)! Will you attempt to cast these yourself? /Jesse
  23. Time for a small update. I wanted to take the time to do a little step by step on how I go about painting the pilots. This painting process is basically the steps I use for any & all of the detail painting which is mostly done with a paint brush. The colors may or may not be 100% accurate, but I simply look at the reference pics and choose a color that looks the part. Hopefully the cockpit build hasn't been too painfully slow, but I had to attempt this detailing work just once to see what it was all about. On future builds I may never opt to go this deep into detailing a kit office ever ag
  24. Yep. This is exactly why I've been stocking up on the quality sheets (Fightertown, Afterburner etc.)... The bids for OOP sheets on ebay is ridiculous!!! Chuck, just sitting here shaking my head in disbelief! The engines look just PERFECT! Guess I gotta pick up some of those Sierra Hotel resin's before they're gone as well! Yer really cruisin' along, you'll be slingin' paint before ya know it :thumbsup:/> /Jesse
