  1. Hey Pete, I hope you have gained enough strength over the holidays for the challenges of the new year. I have been following your thread with enthusiasm, you're such a tough guy and also never give up so quickly that impresses me again and again. I also think so, setbacks only make us even harder. I wish you an ingenious solution to your stack and I'm convinced that you will succeed, all the best, Holy moly! I stay tuned.
  2. Hello all together, before the holidays I will briefly report yet again. Since my last post of the final assembly of the ROFIs on LOX TSM some time has passed so. But this break has sometimes done very well to get some rest and to protect the eyes. In the meantime, I was a little busy with the 3D printing , albeit only with theory. The practical application one can admire in all its many forms in Shapeways and marvel at what all there is in the space area. I have now started with the ROFIs on LH2 TSM, which have still missing. But honestly, you get quite out of practice in dealin
  3. Man alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your skill and perfection of your scratch building art is incredible.
  4. Hey Mick, I have looked at your other models in the gallery and I'm very impressed, especially your diorama Apollo 13 Recovery I find spectacular. And thanks for the great photos from your outstanding Challenger with MLP-2 and the crawler. That's a coincidence, I am also building a 1:144 Challenger mission (STS-6), which was the maiden flight.
  5. Hey Guys, Here is another fantastic Crawler model of paper by Mischa Klement (Cyana) , a gifted 3D designer and Model freak. His Crawler model kit (1/96) is available since August 2010. More than 11.000 parts makes it the most comprehensive paper model in the world. After finishing the Crawler kit he's working on his next spectacular project, a 1/96 paper model kit of LUT 1, which is prepared for a number of parts beyond 20.000. The 3D design is finished for about 70%, and hopefully will be completed by the end of the year.
  6. Hey Mick, welcome back to ARC life. Great to see you here, and I hope with new spectacular projects sometime.
  7. Have you sealed them with primer in the meantime?
  8. No problem Guys, I can understand your enthusiasm completely. Here is the Part 2 of Michael Jack's outstanding LUT Saturn V Apollo 12, which he completed in 2011. And here is the proud young champion, who won 1st in scratch built, as he has written to me.
  9. Michael Jack is the name of the master, as you can see in the article.
  10. Sorry, but the link does not work. You mean this one, right? Have you a source or a link to this young man? Is the LUT made of paper, PE or something else, or is it a virtual model?
  11. I also thought at first that it is a belated April Fool's Joke just before Christmas. I have similar concerns as you, in terms of the demand in view of their known prices.
  12. Hello folks, this is the news of the month: In 2015 LVM Studios will release the Apollo Saturn Launch Umbilical Tower. Source: NASA At Scale Model World 2014 in Telford UK (11/08-09/2014) LVM presented a prototype of their BIG LUT Project, Source: LVM Studios which will be available in three different scales: 1/144 for the Revell Saturn V or Airfix Saturn V 1/96 for the Revell Saturn V 1/72 for the Dragon Saturn V This is definitely a spectacular and very challenging project, only question is what price will be called for these kits ...
  13. Hi Bill, your collection of 3D printed shuttle details is getting more and more spectacular. The ET/Orbiter umbilical interface turned out awesome. So I am happy when I was able to contribute to your progress with my reference material. Keep on performing magic!
  14. Hello Mike, I have been following your report for some time with great excitement and admire your attention to detail and your impressive skill. Now I have found this stunning shot in the NSF Forum (L2), which shows a detail from an incredible 300 megapixels image from the Atlantis exhibition. Maybe I can post the whole picture, but it's only 16 MB (24620x9736). Source: nasaspaceflight.com (Naito) Here this place is again at a higher magnification. Source: nasaspaceflight.com (Naito) The only question is, is there a tile, or a AFRSI blanket? I would almost suspect a black t
  15. Holy moly, Bill, I'm again and again surprised at what you are designing for such great models, you are for me THE 3D modeler of the year. Can't wait to see more. I have found this stunning shot in the NSF Forum (L2), which shows a detail from an incredible 300 megapixels image from the Atlantis exhibition. Source: nasaspaceflight.com (Naito) Unfortunately, only half of the docking module is to see but in a fantastic resolution with great details. Maybe I can post the whole image, which is only 16 MB (24620x9736) BTW, in it there is also an interesting image cutout with
  16. Hi Pete, a very nice tool, which is a great help for us. As far as I can see, it fits to the range of 1 to 4 mm. I intend to buy a similar tool, but on a larger diameter range down to smaller diameters, like this one here. Keep up your great work.
  17. Hey Pete, great details you are adding with the punched little disks. What is the diameter of the disks and what kind of punch tool do you use?
  18. Hi Pete, I admire your persistence and perseverance to save the CM. But o not give up, in the end you will be successful, I have a good feeling and press both thumbs, you're a tough guy and will bite you.
  19. Hi Mike, after you have filled the gaps between the blankets it looks nearly like at the real thing, fantastic! The effort is worth it. Source: NASA
  20. Hi Bill, that's a cool approach with the scaled picture of the shuttles sides for scratching and placing of the hinges. Can't wait to see your first blankets.
  21. Thanks guys for your kind words, but I can calm you down, I have a good feeling and my aim clearly in mind. BTW, my project is planned from the beginning as a long-term project and was initially more of a great dream. But as you can see, both the dimensions and the own claims as well as my attention to detail have grown over time, even when I think of the lighting of the pad, which is a new dream for me. Now you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one and I hope someday my dreams will come true ... Imagine there's this Launch Pad, Source: retrospaceimages.com (STS-6) but u
  22. Hey Pete, "Houston, we have a problem!" It's really hard to know what to do, but don't let you down!
  23. Thanks Mike for your enthusiasm. Hello friends, I was so glad I had the two supply lines finally mounted on the rear ROFI, and already there was a rude awakening. After clamping of the TSM in the small Proxxon vice in preparation for the installation of the front ROFI suddenly something small fell in front of me on the desk, but luckily not on the floor, because otherwise I would have probably not noticed. Well, and that was to my surprise the small external supply line of the rear ROFI, which I must have accidentally crashed into during handling. This is quite possible, since I can b
