Cool, Dave. Have a safe trip and enjoy! I'll be the one filling their trunk! LOL! Don

The Shootout originally started between two IPMS chapters. It then grew and grew to include the public, but still held onto the chapter competition. The model count is usually in the 500+ range. They have a raffle, vendors, the usual things. When you live in this neck of the woods, contests don't get any closer! Don

Model contest, vendors, good times! Looking forward to it. Don

Wow! 139 views, and no one is going to the contest? Yikes! Don

Anyone here heading to the Virginia Shootout in Roanoke this coming weekend (8-15)? Don

He was doing some beautiful work. Thanks for the tag on the other site. I want to see this project finish out. He is an excellent model builder who is enjoying himself. Afterall, that is the reason for this whole hobby to begin with! Don. -
That's not good! LOL! Hearing that, I should just use the old Microscale set I found. I think it's a shame that this newish kit comes out, an no one jumped on some new, good quality decals for it. Don

Guys, I went into my decal box and pulled out a sheet of 105G decals! I used some of them probably 17-18 years ago. I still have enough to do another complete aircraft PLUS I do have the Hobbyboss decals, which after a second look are not that bad. Again, thanks for the info and help!! Don
-
Thank you for that offer, Pete. I actually have that sheet and that kit. Recently, I picked up both the Hobbyboss F-105D and G and wanted a new set for that G model. Chris, I may have to do that. I too have some decals that are 10-15-20 years old. They are in good shape, but they are kept in a constant climate and have never been in extreme cold, heat or light. When one buys something from an individual, those may not have been treated so well. I have plenty of time, but I do appreciate the help and the kind offer by Pete. Don

Thanks, all. That is the problem I am having. All of those sheets are years old now. I always try to find the freshest batch. I don't want to spend money on EBay or the like for decals that are from 10-15 years old. I'll just use the kit decals. I do appreciate the help. Don

Hi all. I must be missing something. I have looked for decals (new, not "pre-owned") decals for my 1/48 scale F-105G, and I cannot find anything. I am looking for the usual SEA markings. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks for any help!! Don

Kit is BEAUTIFUL!!! Now I have both Venom and Viper to build.. Nice little project. Don
-
It's on its way!!! :) Now I have both Venom and Viper. Also grabbed the last add-on goodies for my Mohawk. Good times ahead! Don
-
I agree Chris. I do not have the kit, but the pictures tell me that a new one would be nice. Wolfpack would do a great job with it. Don
-
I wish the kit would be released again or someone else make a better model. It is such a cool looking plane. Don
-
I would replace them with resin / plastic. After about a year or two or three, those rubber tires are going to look flat. Don
-
That too is good news! Thank you. Don

I am looking forward to seeing the pictures. Don

Thank you for that info. I just wrote to them and asked. I appreciate the help. Vielen Dank! Don

Has anyone heard through the grapevine about IBEX Models? Are they still around? I wanted a Texan2, but that isn't going to happen unless they make some more! Thanks for any input. Don

I usually accumulate enough "needs" so when I do order and have to pay for the shipping, it is offset by the savings over buying locally. I'll buy a dozen jars of paint and save almost 12 bucks right there. There is my shipping for a good-sized order. I'll order enough for a six-month period - cockpit sets, wheels, decals, kits, paint, etc., and the shipping becomes next to nothing. For small items, either plan ahead or find a buddy who also "needs stuff" and split the shipping. Oh yes, and keep repeating - it's only a hobby, it's only a hobby!! ;) Don

Thanks again, Dave. I usually build 1/48 scale aircraft. For the past year or so I started to build the occasional car or two. I am working on a 57 Chevy right now, but I want to finish it and move on to my next car project - the Malco gasser. Don

Thanks for the input, Dave, and I have to say, you did a great job on the Hornet. Very nice! I use enamels like you. What brand of primer do you use? Don
