  1. I can answer this one, Everybody asks that question, believe it . After 20 years on the 15 you find yourself missing the jet and the comradery of friends. One thing I can say get as much education as you can out of the military. When you do become a civilian at the least you can set your own course if you still crave the excitement. I went to rthe engineering management side and found excitement working the manufacturing areas such as NASA, JSF program and R&D. I would like to get back to flying but it’s gotten so expensive. So my answer to this question is after 20 years working on Ferrar
  2. The HUD Combining Glass is clear, it is the thickness of the glass that reacts to light like a Prisim. The best thing I have seen to replicate this effect is something I saw on eBay or if you can find it clear prisim tape.
  3. Academy never released a 1/35 AH-64, they might of released the IMEX or Kangnam kit in Korea but not released worldwide.
  4. Comcerning the Color of the engine bay panels, yes titanium paint I have always found to,be a bit on the dark side so I would do is lighten it with a bit of natural aluminum then it you can do the heat discolouration around the edging of each panel with purple and bluish tint. We use to polish our engine bays so they were like a mirror sp that's why they might possibly look like they are lighter in Color. Underneath the horizontal stabs there is the primary heat exchanger, exhaust ,,it can get very hot so there will be discolouration there as well. Missles on an E? Well missle would be
  5. Approx 6' from the intake lip where it starts to,round out is were it it is gloss white, up to,that point it's the fuselage Color on All f-15 model.
  6. Not really, you still got a boat load of mistakes on the Hasegawa airframe
  7. Accuracy for non E model in this order. GWH has very nice detail and is very accurate overall. I haven't built one but they look good for the shape and detail in the box. I didn't take out my calipers for this one though. I haven't seen their A model but from the pictures they missed some things that make it an Albino A. Monograms kit is much older and has not too bad of detail but is the most accurate with shape. As mentioned this kit has raised lines and squashed canopy. This is actually an A model from the box Hasegawa's C/D's are nice but misshapen around the engine humps
  8. Nice build, like the mod eagle scheme the best!
  9. I know most if not all A models that went ghrough MISIP received the upgrades to include chaff and flare mods. As to what aircraft I don't have a definitive list but I would say all the with low airframe hours aircraft that went to Intercept squadrons not the bone yard.
  10. How about the Modelcraft F-82 any version, took 10 clamps to put everything together straight and a tube of Tamiya putty and plastic shims to get everything cleaned up for the paint!!
  11. Dave whalen PO Box 54003 Silver Heights PO Winnipeg MB R3J 0L5 Canada thanx
  12. The kits in Japan have their price printed on the box, so you pay the same price in yen on the kit as all other hobby shops or toy store. Sometimes you can find discounts or clearance but not too often. The kits you do find are good prices as you are avoiding shipping and import taxes you usually have tacked on stateside prices. Now to where the hobby shops are? We're is your friend going? Models and supplies are abundant even in mom an pop shops!
  13. Take a look at my C/D to E comparison, these would apply to the kits. I have seen attempts to do that but no finished product! The ProMonoVell Mudhen is pretty accurate for an E so you would have to do the same to the kits. Especially the newer mud hens have much more additions to them that the Albinos would not have received.
  14. You figure before the GWT kit the Monogram kit had a much more accurate Airframe outline than the Hasegawa, though a bit long in tooth, harder to build, raised panel lines and canopy outline it is still the only accurate A model on the market. Academy has misshapen fuselage shapes and for me is ot that appealing in profile. the Tamiya kit and Italeri kits are ok in outline but lack detail considering they italeri is a modern molded kit. Just keep in mind you are using an A model to make a C model, keep my list handy as the speedbrake fairing and wheels are very noticeable differences..
  15. C/D to E I had worked on F-15A,B,C,D,E,I,J and S models as Crew Chief, Engine Mechanic and Hydraulic Mechanic,Flight Control and Crash Recovery over my 20 year career in the USAF. I and S models as enroute maintenance as they were delivered to the customer and the J when I was on exchange with the JASDF. I have also had the pleasure(?) of working on Su-27s, Mig-29s, F-4Fs, F-4Es, Mirage 2000, Etendards, F-1s, Tornados, Alpha Jets, etc...... I have flown C-152s, C-150s, C-172s, Piper Cherokees, T tailed Lance, Lear Jet, Martin 404s, DC-3s, King Air, Queen Air, DH-6, Dash 7. Enou
  16. F-15 A/B to C/D, A type prior to MISIP and C model initial production. Nose to Tail Early C Models and A models were almost indistinguishable. I was a Crew Chief on A models 80 – 84 in the 27th TFS, 1TFW, 76-0057 was my first hog. Got my first C model 82-0019 in 83 with 12.7 hours from Micky D’s. Top 1. Majority of the cockpit remained the same with only minor instrumentation upgrades through the years. 2. HUD and HUD combing glass went through an upgrade in 82 to accept the EagleEye scope, home made to mount to the side of the combing glass to slide a rifle scope on for visual i
  17. I have searched here and only found the C/D to E, just do a search for that one, the A to C I can repost if needed?
  18. We shipped them out, they were sent to Iceland to extend their intercept range and Elmendorf for their Alert. I don't remember exact dates but they were in the tank farm and they slowly disapeared. I was in AGS Supervisiin and thinking thank you lord they are gone. Might have been later? They didn't transfer I with you F-15s, they came later.
  19. In fact after our flirtation at Langley with CFT's and dropping all types of those dumb things that go boom in 85 we sent those POS to Iceland and the 57th.
  20. I know my A model at Langley in the 27th 76-0057 went to the dragons in 83, I transferred her out and was given a 318th unsubdued patch and certificate. At the same time I accepted 82-0019 as my new jet with the new smell cockpit with 12.7 hours onher. Our and Englands A models went to 318th and 48th FIS. The A models also were sent to Tyndal 1stFIS to replace their F-106s in 85. Yes the ASAT was assigned to the 318th but that's history....
  21. You can make a D model family truckster but not a B with somemodifications. The hardest would be the aft fairing on the speed brake.
  22. Let me get to my computer later, slightly limited on my iPhone
  23. The hasegawa kit is essentially a D model with CFT's , there are visable and noticeable airframe differences between the B and D as well as the E. now as for the CFT's, there is no difference between the E model and C/D model per say the stub pylon configuration for Air to Air and Air to Mud. I did up a list on the differences on all F-15's I had noticed by working on the jet for 20+ years as a Crew Chief. Just like as has been stated depending on time frame as the whole fleet did not go through MISIP all at once and parts available, there was no such thing as an early C/D and a late except fo
  24. What's the difference between the early and late C models?
