  1. Well we had CFT's on C/Ds at Langley, got rid of them sent them to Iceland C/Ds, thank the Eagle Gods. I left Langley and went to Kadena, guess what followed me there on our C'Ds besides the "Love Tub"? Went to Elmendorf after Kadena, guess what followed me there? Elmendorf to Lakenheath, Guess what? more CFTs on E models and then finally Crash recovery, reprieve at last, oops retirement..... Never escaped them in 20+ years, always when I got to the base, hey your CFT qualified we need a trainer, BOHICA! (Bend Over Here It Comes Again). Glad the F-35 doesn't have them would have started to fee
  2. 20+ years on the 15 and we called the C models Albinos, Rohdan, titanium tennis court, flegle and if you really were intimate pig, hog, pos, pita and we she is flying code 1 sexy baby and give her a belly and nose rub! Now Es I worked on for a while but when I was on the Cs we called them mud hen , chubby cheeks, wide loader, dark grays and beagle ( bomber eagle) among other choice words.... Remember not a pound for ground...... Guess it might be an old timer thing, was a Crew Chief, Engines, Hydraulics, and Crash Recovery, worked on A,B,C,D,E,I, J, and S models 1980 - 2001.....
  3. Hi Kevin, I will take the 1/32 VFR-21 CAG f-14, F-2 JASDF. 50 Anniversary and RA-5C 1/48 Zotz if still available?
  4. IIRC all the F15C's at Kadena had the metallic Green Bay 5.
  5. Thank you Sounds like a 44th jet
  6. Can you tell me the tail number?
  7. I really do doubt that would be done that would be way too much work, removing SMDC line, Cables, Wiring harnesses, etc and then the ops checks and FCF, worse than a Can Rebuild.......... If you ever have had your cockpit repainted you should know the hassle is 100% more of a PITA....
  8. Depending on weather conditions, age of the canopy so on. It could be a deep red brown to a faded rust Color. I even had to paint mine once for a VIP static display for some South American president and his delegation.if you leave it the natural Color just remember that this is were we mount the plexi to the metal framing, so there are hi torque screws attaching it, hardly noticeable in smaller scales But they are there, made of brass as to not affect the fluid back up compass found on the forward bow of the canopy. Cheers Dave Whalen
  9. They have always put the flaps up and landing light off in DeArm. On launch stabs are in T/O trim with ailerons and rudders in neutral, ramps as soon as the JFS/ CGB disconnect at idle rpm go to emerg position for FOD prevention.
  10. Are you talking about the rusty brown or reddish phenalic that is the actual framing for the plexi or the metal portion that would be the airframe color?
  11. Yes the maintainers, 71st"Iron", 54th "Fighting Leapards, F-15 Eagle, okinawaKadena, fallen eagle keepers, f-15 Crewchiefs, phantoms forever, 67 "Fighting Cocks", most of my buddies from the line are on there as well.
  12. I didn't think so no have been told that allot, maybe because of carrying ordanance as in bombs they were done for aerodynamics? I never noticed and did not measure, they both carried same amount of fuel though. Not really noticeable if the are in profile.
  13. There we're no active duty F-15s that had fast packs, only CFTs were loaded on C/Ds . Fast packs were something Micky dees was trying to sell, We flew CFTs at Langley first, then Iceland, PACAF picked up on them about 92 after the Storm and Elmendorf when they became PACAF , about 93. No USAFE 15s had CFTs loaded. Yes the Academy kit has it's problems an inaccuracies but if all you want is a shelf sitter then it will be fine. Truthfully there are most people will not see the problems with the kit. As to modifying the ProMonoVell E model, not really worth the hassle and time. The Academy
  14. Allied Force (Operation Noble Anvil) was Kosovo, I was with the 48th Crash Recovery in Aviano with the 494th and 492nd (E models), the 493rd (C/D Models) was in Cervia Italy. Captain Hwang "Sulu" shot down 2 Yugoslavian Mig-29s on March 25th, 1999. I knew Lt (@Kadena) and later Captain Hwang (@Lakenheath) as Sulu. I was stationed at Lakenheath from 97 -2001 in Crash Recovery.
  15. I was a Crew Chief on the F-15 A,B,C,D,E,I,J, S models for 20+ years, you want an accurate Eagle go with the GWH kit, you can't go wrong........
  16. I would love to build all the jets F-15's I crewed over the years but would need plain Ol generic tail numbers and codes in Black and Gray? Any plans on that?
  17. When I flew banners in a Citabria in the late 70s on the New Jersey coast out of Monmouth County Airport we would drop the banner before landing, those were different times....
  18. Hear the first run sold out... Got my two for now!
  19. Yep, got a scar on my back from them and one covered by my receding hairline from an Eagle Claw, that was the painfull one...
  20. I know at Langley it was just after desert storm, we already were removining them but there was a mod that needed to be done so the halon did not leak through the lightning holes that was covered by the fairing. At Kadena as we sent the jets through Kim Hae for MISIP and paint to Mod Eagle, my jet was one of the last jets to go through from Kadena about late 92... The fairing was pnl 128...
  21. Still the same inaccurate molds with additional parts, go with the ProMonoVell Mudhen and a few simple mods to an I model( really not much in that scale). Run a search you will find mine and others opinions about the current F-15 kits on the market.
  22. They served no purpose except to cause great pain on the Crew Chief!s back and head and left scars for life! Bet you can,t guess how I know!
  23. There really was no MISIP II, it was all part of the Multiple Stage Improvment Program. 20+ years on the Eagle and I never heard it called MISIP II? The GWH kit would be appropriate for those markings and the exterior changes were minimal and were limited to antanae changes on the stingers and nose and chin just aft of the Radome. Noticeable internal in cockpit would have been an MFD to take the place of the anologe Armament Control Panel. I was in the Heath (Lakenheath) when we started receiving the jets from Spang in 99, and Bitburg closed in 94 so all jets we're MISIPed and in Mod Ea
