  1. Steve, Glad to hear you got some good weather to work on the display base. Look forward to seeing it finished, of course if your weather is like the weather here it may take until July to get enough good days. Great seeing your work. Ty
  2. Awesome, I have the German J models on my list to do. Very excited when Germany selected the C-130's Watching this with great interest, your amazing work on the -135 series is impressive and now doing my favorite aircraft, could not ask for more. I am working on a Zvezda H model, so we will see how that goes, since I haven't done a model in 30+ years. Just a question on the Chaff/Flare air deflector horseshoes, those are included in all the Zvezda C-130 kits, part numbers H66 and H67, you didn't use the ones from the kit? Again great work so far and look forward to more. Best regards
  3. Steve, Fantastic work on the spinning props, I can almost smell the JP-8. Looking forward to your finished props, as you are quite the stickler for the details. Very impressive work! Ty
  4. Beautiful work here Steve! A master class in modeling, painting and decals. Your ability to identify and to correct the missing details and kit shortfalls is amazing. I really hate to see this build end, although I do look forward to seeing the completed gunship. I have learned a great deal from following your Ghostrider, and need to get started on my C-130's, rather than just collecting. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
  5. Steve, Masterful work here! I am impressed with your skills, and hope that my kits turn out half as nice as yours. Of course 1 of the 5 kits in the stash have the flat windscreen ( the last one I ordered from Poland). Will have to check all of the other H, J, J-30's kits in the stash. You are correct on the black paint on the wing, just a visual aid icing indicator. You are really hitting all the details, and cant wait to see more of your work on your Ghostrider! Getting close now. Any ideas for the walkways? I know the kit decals are too dark, I will check the stash of d
  6. Steve, Great work on the Ghostrider! She is really looking great! massive amounts of work accomplished since I last checked in, you're almost to finished already! Again Outstanding job!! Cant wait to see more.
  7. Outstanding work on the antenna details! She's really is looking like the Ghostrider now! Can't wait to see more. Keep up the outstanding work!
  8. Ugly, never! The most Beautiful aircraft to ever fly! Steve- Great work on the reinforcement areas, and other external details, really looking good now!
  9. Steve- Great catch on the details, the firing HUD, the right side blister and the beaver tail. Looking really great so far! Looking forward to more.
  10. Beautiful job on this one! Great modification into the Combat Sent!
  11. Outstanding work on the Herc! ERTL kits are tough with their inaccuracies but you've done wonders with it. Which Hamilton Hobbies set did you use? I've seen them on line but never been able to find a set here in the States. Again Great Job!
  12. Love the progress on the Ghostrider! Nice catch on the blister on the right side. No need to camo the aircrew as the desert and olive flight suits are still in use.
  13. Great work on the Ghostrider! If you get to a point where you need the Armory Models GBU-39's with the BRU-61/A carriage rack let me know, I have several sets. Again great work so far.
  14. There was also the AIRFIX AC-130H in 1/72 which is not terrible, but for an earlier AC-130H. As for the ARMA Models conversion for the ZVEZDA, it does not have the longer landing gear sponson, or the late ECM blisters, but does have turned metal barrels for the 105 and 40mm, and some nice antennas not found in the other kits.
  15. Yes it does, see step 39 in the instructions. So HC/MC versions are possible. https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/5/0/9/1452509-35-instructions.pdf
  16. More great progress on the Ghostrider! Nice job on drilling out the 105, a definite must. It kind of looks like a combination of the old M102, and the new 105 , see link below. 2 of the 4 I ordered have arrived. Luckily no flat canopy windshields, although 1 is very soft, and flexible. If I can help with references etc., please let me know. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/our-first-look-at-an-ac-130j-ghostrider-gunships-new-105mm-gun
  17. Steve, great work on the Ghostrider. Most AC-130J's were MC-130J's first, then modified to AC-130 standards, so they had the MC-130 lighting for aerial refueling. The lights on the horizontal stab are the refueling pod lights. The diagram shows most of the exterior lighting. Hope this helps.
  18. I will be watching this with great interest. Waiting on my Ghostriders to arrive, hopefully next week.
  19. Let me start by saying great sheet, with great options. I love the C-130 sheets you have done in the past (Guard Herks is awesome), and look forward to planned and future C-130 sheets. I did notice something on this sheet for the 23rd Wing aircraft: decal 23 the ACC tail badge has Tactical Air Command in the scroll. As Air Combat Command was formed in 1992, and all C-130's were in ACC at the time. Is this an error? I have checked my references and have not found any 23rd Wing C-130's with TAC badges. Best regards-
  20. I have that CD, it only has 5 WC-130's 2 E model and 3 H model pictures, that are taken on the ramp, exteriors only. Cheers-
  21. The J model Fat Albert does not have the JATO brackets on the air deflector doors. As for the aircraft previous to the J model, I assume your talking about the T models (H2 models for Air Force types), the last aircraft would not have them, since it was built in 1990's, earlier aircraft definitely did. The F models (B models) were built in the 57-62 time frame and all C-130's had them back then. There was a JATO delete that was around the late 2000's which replaced or had new panels for the air deflector doors. Of course this all depends on the serial number, and Lockheed manufacturing numbe
  22. 39th had a red tailband, which tail number are you doing? I thought Draw decal might have them. The only Dyess bird decals for the 39th I know of are in the 1/200th Hasegawa kit and Vince Maddox decals in 1/48th. Of course depending on time frame you could use the DY tail code, or even the Texas Flag tail band. You could also check with Steve Eggers ( if I recall did a 40th bird in 72nd), and I think he made the decals. I remember seeing a sheet some where in the forms with a bunch of Dyess tailbands in various scales, sorry I cant think of which part of the forums but most likely props or
  23. Just saw this, thankfully no fatalities. http://www.c-130.net/c-130-news-article620.html
