  1. Great work! Keep it up. Sorry if i hijecked this wonderful thread. One question on the kit itself though, what is everyone's take on the "AFV like" panels?
  2. I have great interest in this subject. Pity of the poor fit, as Airfix is really stepping up their effort in releasing more models of the modern era. They really should have improve on this area as I can possibly recall only a few of their kits have a decent fit, hence reducing the "fun" of the build.
  3. RedStar : Know nothing about Migs or Russian missiles. Learning something everyday! Lodewijk : Cleaning up should be a breeze. Run the tip of blade perpendicular to the seam, it will be done in 2 minutes. Resins are way harder to cleanup IMO
  4. Sorry Madcop, I got too high on the freshly molded plastic, so the sky is a bit blurry now. :gr_eek2:/> It doesnt really have the full pylon on it, just part of it as you can see from here. It is still very nice isnt it!
  5. Just want to share some photos of the production run GWH Mig-29 photos just obtained from local model shop. Wooohooo! I got it! :nanner:/>/>/>/> :cheers:/>/>/>/> The missiles are the best cast ones I have ever seen up so far. They are molded in one piece with the pylons. Sorry to bored you all with it, but I cant be a happier man.
  6. Sexy plane! Great work on the kit! Cant wait to start mine.
  7. Saw it in local hobby shop today personally. Details are amazingly rich, and the level can match aftermarket stuffs if not surpasses it. But there is one thing that most modeler will beat it to death. Well maybe the photos will speak later on...
  8. Almost done. Gloss coat plus decal then a wash to highlight the panels was done. The decals provided in the kit is something i havnt encountered before. It is ultra thin and quite opaque. Almost no softener is need for it to conform to panel lines and the likes. But then as you can see from the photos i messed quite some of them up, maybe due to my fingers being wet when handling the model . The black lines were also quite difficult to get to the position and some trimming is needed. I should have done better with these after knowing a bit how to hand these. I have worked hours aft
  9. Interesting when reading the background history i came across a note from Mr Wang. He mentioned one of the usual tactics of the US aircraft to make kills were to send in a lone wolf to lure some defense planes to scramble (maybe 2-3?). Meanwhile a wolfpack of 7-8 planes just outside the Chinese border would go in and take a shot at those poor bastards. Now the question is how often is that deployed and what really is the purpose of this? Just to provoke China into war? I know this is off topic but growing very curious about it.
  10. At 1/72, your work is incredible! I see great things coming... I may steal your idea to make the seat belts. May I also ask what do you use to fix the copper wires to the fuselage?
  11. Minor Update today. Post shading done. Originally a lacquer user, I cant quite get used to the softness of glossy acrylic paints. The glossy surface almost acts like a layer of sticky gel mix that i cannot really describe. It touches like it is not fully dry and tacky. Some more post shading + decal and it should be done soon!
  12. Minor update. A lighter shade was sprayed and it looks more convincing in this scale. Different colors shown with or without flash on. The end is near... RE: Skinny, thanks for the headsup on Life Colors. I may give it a try on my next build. I for one dont trust the manufacturer's claimed equivalence of this "A" color to this FS color. Taking into account of scale effect and other factors I strongly believe in mixing shades to whatever I feel right. Your F-16 is a masterpiece and cant wait to see it finished!
  13. Some more updates. Base layer was applied. I used model air 71047, which according to Vallejo's website is equivalent to FS 36270. But it looks too dark to me compared with references like this(i forget where, Navy's site has the high res). Need a tone lighter later on.
  14. Great start to your first serious project. The display monitors looks good. I would recommend without hesitation to an airbrush set with compressors. With some practice, even the beginner's set will make notably difference. Spray cans are convenient but it cant work on small areas. Try mail order from some reputable online distributors for the supplies. Usually the more you order, the more you saved on shipping. Good luck on your model armour....er i mean aircraft. Have fun!
