  1. Wondering if they're reliable.
  2. Louis, great job on your F-14!! Love the weathering, it's restrained and I think it portrays the A/C very well, looks very realistic IMO.
  3. Terrific job on the B-29! I saw the show and it was barely watchable when she went up in flames. Heartbreaking. Nice to see someone pay tribute to what could have been.
  4. Wondering how Aeromaster and Super Scale decals compare with each other.
  5. Okay, here's the thing. I want to build a 1/48 Monogram Prowler in the VMAQ-2 Playboys scheme. Can't find the decal sheet anywhere so far. Believe me I've looked. I HAVE seen a 1/48 sheet for sale for the "next generation" VMAQ-2 Marines (Panthers I believe) with markings for the new scheme; i.e. after they changed the bunny logo to something more politically-correct. 'Course I want to do a bird in the bunny markings. I'm thinking of using the Panthers sheet and (although it may not be 100% accurate) possibly combining it with the Playboy logo from another sheet. Any ideas where I can s
  6. I've had great success using Easy Off on coloured plastic; I'd be very reluctant to tyr it on clear parts. Probably would be okay, but if not you could be in for a world of hurt. I suggest something much gentler like Novus 2 polish and some elbow grease. Just make sure that whatever you do, take the canopy OFF the model before you treat it. I can pretty much guarantee that the surrounding paint will be affected in some way if you don't. Polishing the clear part(s) may also have the benefit of removing any surface residue or release agent. Again as mentioned before, do you wash your parts
  7. I'd hate to see that build trashed just for that one problem area. I know how frustrating this can be, but it's usually not as hopeless as it first appears. I can't add anything to the cause of that reaction, but how about using something like Tamiya masking tape instead? Might take care of it. Are you able to remove the canopy and polish it out?

    Sabre

Thumbs-up for a great transaction with Sabre. Jim came through for me in good time and delivered as promised. I like when a guy is true to his word. No worries if you're considering a purchase. "TB2" (Barry)

    Happy Hobby

Thanks Patrick. That is indeed the same place.
  10. Anyone here done business with Happy Hobby ( www.happyhobby.com )? They have some decals I want but I'm reluctant to give a credit card number to a site I'm not familiar with
  11. My previous-generation Badger 200 needs some fine tips that appear to be discontinued. I'm thinking of keeping the brush to use for general coverage. What would be a good choice for an airbrush (that's not overly expensive like the higher-end Iwatas or gravity-fed Tamiya) that will produce a very fine line? I only have experience with single-action, so if there's something of that type that would suit my needs I'd be all over it. I work mainly with acrylics but also laquer (metalizer) and occasionally enamels. Thanks.
  12. What do you use for RBF tags? I need to pick up a few in 1/48. I've seen Eduard's photoetch set and I know they're also available as decals. Any advice from experience?
  13. Is there a reference or can anyone tell me what armament the CF-18's carry? I'm doing a CF-18A using Academy's 1/32 kit, so if I can do a Canadian bird using the provided stores in the kit I'll be a happy camper.

    1/32 Prowler?

Sorry if this has been asked before but does Trumpeter have any plans to release a 1/32 Prowler?
  15. Sorry if this is a little off-topic, if someone can tell me where I should post a question such as this it would be appreciated. What exactly is the Cobra manouver? As I recall at the Paris Air Show years ago a Russian jet (SU-27?) performed this demonstration and stunned onlookers. Links? Video? Thanks.
  16. I'm going to prime with Tamiya spray primer (laquer), after which I will be airbrushing acrylic (probably Tamiya). How long should I wait for the laquer to gas-out? Is a day enough? I don't want the acrylic to be affected.
  17. I'd be inclined to also fill the interior gap with a chunk or two of styrene and use CA or epoxy on the top and bottom for a stronger bond.
  18. Just got my "Uncovering the Boeing F/A-18A/B/C/D Hornet" book this morning. Simply AWESOME detail pics! Highly recommended, and I hear the set of Daco books is pretty consistent for fans of different A/C. Received Osprey's 'Modelling the F/A-18 Hornet" a few days ago so I should be all set.
  19. My bad, the review in FSM is for Sword's 1/72 Talon. May '06 edition, with a P-47 on the cover.
  20. Would a canopy from an F-5 kit work?
  21. What type (model) ejection seat does the CF-18A use? Is it available in a 1/32 resin aftermarket set?
  22. Good choice, the Talon's a sleek A/C and would definitely look better clean. By the way, there was a build-up article on this kit in (the most recent?) Finescale Modeler, reviews section in the back. Sorry, I don't have it here so I'm not sure which month.
