My interests are modeling WWII and Cold War era Naval Aircraft.
  1. Apparently the paint didn't adhere correctly and after it's first flight most of it peeled off. I hoping I can get a pic of what they are calling a hot mess on the blues clues dog....as the maintenance crew called it. This is what happens when you land on the wrong boat.
  2. This is exactly how I remember the Alert 5 aircraft in 97,98,99, and 00. The Aircraft would sit on the cat tied down, If I remember correctly it was tied down with 7 chains, 3 on on the nose, and the rest in the rear of the aircraft. As far as the canopy being open, It wasn't unless the pilot and rio where getting in or out of the plane. I wouldn't let the maintenance chief know you had the canopy open with out a damn good reason. When the pilot gets into the plane and prepares for his ready 5 watch, he goes through his checks. This includes opening the wings back and forth, checking th
  3. You would never see the canopy open while the tomcat is on the catapult. You very rarely see the canopy open at all unless some kind of maintenance is going on that would justify it being open. The reason for this is high gusts of wind while at sea, as well as jet blasts from other planes moving around the flight deck. Part of the job of being a pilot is the ability to sit in a jet for hours on end waiting to be launched.
  4. 1/48th scale would be good. I'm not going to be picky about it so anything that anyone could spare would be just awesome.
  5. Hey Fellas, I need decals for a Mig 21 in Polish markings. Can any of you help me out?
  6. very cool! all that is missing is a few broken beer bottles.
  7. I like to listen to classic country music when I am building my models. It reminds me of when I was a kid building, and my mother would have it playing through out the house

  8. I was very surprised myself. I think she was joking at first, but then she decided she wasn't joking. It really came up out of the blue while we were watching Hell's Kitchen the other night.
  9. Thanks for the link. It's very useful. As far what kind she prefers, she says it has to be pretty...I just showed her the mig 29 and the F-16. She was leaning toward the Mig, but we will see.
  10. you guys are the best, I have a lot to think about. So far I think I'm leaning toward toward the Mig 29 mentioned by Rkic. I'm gonna show it to my wife and see what she thinks. Thanks everyone for all the advice!
  11. I know, It's a bi plane, which i find interesting. I'm still thinking, and I'm going to show her some pictures of the planes you guys have suggested and let her pick one.
  12. awesome job on this f16!It doesn't seem any of the decals are written in polish though. Is it like that on the real jet? I'm just curious.
  13. I prefer 1/48th scale. I'd like to do a jet of some sort. The Mirage you mention seems interesting.
