  1. I believe HSC-6 is moving to CVW-17 and HSC-8 is still in CVW-11. Not sure about HSM-79. Jeff
  2. There are still 5 legacy Hornet fleet squadrons at NAS Oceana, so we'll still have them around for a while! Jeff
  3. Here's a pic I found of VFA-94's new F/A-18F CAG! Looks like CVW-17 is shifting to the TR and CVW-2 to the Vinson. Jeff
  4. I haven't seen anything specifically stating that the 10th CVW will continue to be CVW-14, but I don't believe they ever formally decommissioned, so that's where I'd put my money. Even though it does make sense. ;)
  5. Why not? Because that makes too much sense...lol Look at how VFA-25 and -86 are now with CVW-7 and -3...more cross-country transits. I can understand VFA-11 moving though, because they fly the Foxtrot, and the 10th CVW will be making a comeback at Lemoore and will need that squadron. Jeff
  6. Yeah, 2 Lemoore VFAs now with East Coast CVWs and 2 Oceana VFAs with West Coast CVWs. And now VAW squadrons are following suit, apparently due to the E-2D transitions. Lots of effort going into logistics when these guys go to the boat, I assume... Jeff
  7. They recently moved from CVW-9 to CVW-2 so that VAQ-131 could begin the Growler transition later this spring. CVW-9's website has just been updated, showing VAQ-133 Wizards as being back in the airwing. Last year it was released that -133 would go to CVW-8 after transition, but Bush/CVW-8 just deployed with VAQ-134. HTH, Jeff
  8. With CVW-14 essentially being a "dead" airwing with no units assigned, all of the airwings are currently full. I would expect most of the CVW-9 squadrons to reduce flying hours for a while and then gradually ramp back up through training exercises and rejoin the JCS after her DPIA. Jeff
  9. I have an old book that shows aircrew from the VF-74 Be-Devilers wearing yellow helmets with a white lightning bolt on it, like the one in the video. But I'm not sure that the video clip that shows the helmet is of the same aircraft that is shown with the skunk stripe. It looks to me like they switch video clips at 00:30. Just my non-expert analysis... :) Jeff
  10. VAQ-136 to transfer to CVW-9: http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=72792 Jeff
  11. I'm guessing the reason for a fourth expeditionary unit is due to no squadrons being assigned to CVW-14, leaving one VAQ that needed a place to go. Jeff
  12. Thanks for sharing this photo! Very interesting to see the NL tailcode, though. I wonder if that's temporary, or if they are becoming an expeditionary squadron? Jeff
  13. I believe they received the -60F/H when HS-10 deactivated, and took over training for those models until they are retired from the fleet. Jeff
  14. The "T" in TSW actually stands for Tactical. HTH! Jeff
