  1. Thanks for the kind comments guys. Chuck: Thanks for the offer I may need to take you up on that a bit later in the build :cheers:/>/>/> Re my Sig Pic, it's my daughters pet rat 'Moriarty' now sadly no longer with us. Netz: Please can you tell me more about the intakes and DRA, I'll drop you a PM, however I feel the cost of shipping to the UK will rule them out for this build. SteveV22FE: Looking good so far, the vents on the Tamiya kit look a lot better than the Revell one. Progress so far: Not a lot! I haven't had time to do much on the Hog lately due to other commitment
  2. Hi All, I have decided to begin a new project, an A-10 Warthog... After watching Chuck's 1/32 build I have been inspired to dig my 1/48 Revell version out of the stash and make a start. I picked the kit up earlier this year for half price, and decided to spend what I'd saved on aftermarket, Well that was the plan, I've now spent more than the full price of the kit on AM stuff! My intention is to build it as an A-10C in light grey, using the Kit decals, (unless I get too many people telling me 'No!') I have the Aires resin cockpit (OK I know its not a 'C' cockpit but I don't plan on telling
  3. Hi all, I don't know if anyone has posted about this already, but I've just finished watching two programmes on BBC iPlayer called Cold War, Hot Jets. Two 1 hour long documentaries about the development of British military aviation in the 50's and 60's. Programme 1 is all about fighter development, and programme 2 covers the bombers. Basically it is 2 hours of vintage aviation porn! Loads of archive footage of meteors, venoms etc finishing with the Vulcan and the Lightning. Highly recommended :-) Al
  4. Thanks for the advice guys, I shall now start my shopping list. It'll give me something to do while the paint dries on my BAe Hawk! Al
  5. Hi Folks, I have just bought the Revell 1/48 A-10 (At half price, so couldn't resist it!) and am looking for a bit of help and advice. I believe this is a re-boxing of the old Monogram kit, and is supposed to be quite accurate in outline. My plan is to take the basic kit and improve it a bit, so I'm after advice from the experts around here. I have been looking around and Aries do a couple of cockpit/wheel bays for the Italeri and Hobby Boss Kits. Does anyone know which of these is the better fit for the revel model? I know that Revell and Italeri have in the past shared moulds, is the Itale
  6. I've just bought the Revell 1/48 Hog, so will be using this as a guide to making the most of it. I was looking for A-10 reviews and build threads on the 'net and ended up on the Fine Scale Modeller site, and guess who's Phantom is on the title Banner!!! Al
  7. I was thinking more of the plastic/resin for the 3D printing to bring the cost down, but if as you say that when the shells sit on top of the trays they are too high then I agree it would be best to leave them empty. Al
  8. Hi Chuck, Just spent the last couple of afternoons reading through your Phantom and Mustang builds, all i can say is WOW they are both amazing examples of what can be achieved in our hobby. If as you say each model is better than your last I am looking forward to the completion of this Hog, and as for those models that follow it, I think we will have to invent some new superlatives! I noticed during your mustang build that you tried several different options for the .50cal rounds in the ammunition trays, all to no avail. Can I add my thoughts to the discussion? Have you considered getting th
  9. Janne, Apologies for miss spelling your name in an earlier post, I'm blaming it on the software and auto correct! Looking at the wheels are they the kit ones or A/M resin? I have just bought the Academy F-14A and am putting a wish list together for the detailing stuff. Al
  10. Joanne, Excellent work, again! The 'cat is looking good, although it does look a bit strange to me as 99% of the 'cats I've seen are in USN colours. Lovely job on the paintwork though. Al
  11. Hi Janne, Thanks or the reply, I am planning on putting the notch in and changing the splitter shape as you suggest. When you look at the aircraft head on it is quite obvious. Al
  12. Hi Aigore, shame about the quality of fit on the gun bays, you would think that something that simple they would have got right, especially with the standard of today's kits. Bad news about the paint in the wheel wells, I assume it will be a relatively simple fix? Neo, Sebastijan; it all depends on what type of nail polish remover you use. If it has acetone in it, it will 'melt' through the plastic. The majority of nail polish removers don't have acetone in these days. Which can be a pain to find, as I use the stuff with acetone in to remove the sticky goo left on your fingers after remov
  13. Very impressive work my friend, very impressive indeed. This is definitely a 'benchmark build' Al
  14. Hi Janne, Amazing work as always. I'm really impressed with the u/c bays, especially the nose bay. When you spray the Klear, do you spray it as it is, or do you thin it first, if so what do you use to thin it? Thanks Al
  15. Excellent work. Great film, great model. I like it when we don't take thing too seriously ! It really does need the 'Garfield' though ;)
