  1. Yes, the best of all worlds 😉 This is the display case thread: Danny.
  2. This fictional super fighter was inspired by the Ace Combat video game series. Work started in 2017 and now, in 2024, she's finally completed. Here is the in-progress thread: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/371323-scratch-built-172-fenrir-from-ace-combat-series/page/2/&tab=comments#comment-3191022 There are some modifications that I made which hopefully give the Fenrir a more plausible stealth design. Much of the model is actually an example of upcycling, because some packaging material and spare parts and decals from other ki
  3. Final comparison shows small differences in the shape. Most obvious difference is in the pod position. It sits lower because the intake is a little larger than intended. And with this... She's done! 🎉🥳 Thank you very much for looking! Danny.
  4. Thanks for the comments. I am not very familiar with the AC franchise myself, having only really played ACX. If they bring back the Fenrir in a future installment, it would be a strong argument for me to buy it. Danny.
  5. Varnish is on, and so are most of the parts. Not much further to go now. 😁 Danny.
  6. Almost done with the decals and panel lines. Also added some small parts, including pitot tubes (PE parts from Airwaves F-15). Next will be more detail inside the wheel wells, the landing gear and their respective doors. Danny.
  7. Continuing with the Aurelian Air Force insignia (there is only one on this plane according to the game) and the panel lines. The white snowflake is made of 8 pieces of white decals. It was then dulled using gray paint. The lines are drawn with a very fine liner pen and a pencil (mostly the latter). The lines are quite different from the original, as mentioned: they follow a sawtooth or angled pattern, while the original has lots of right angles (shown in the drawing underneath). Danny.
  8. Great research and work 👍. I didn't know this kit had those issues. Danny.
  9. 😄 Thanks! I think I've mentioned earlier that it's larger than a MiG-31. I don't have a MiG-31, but I have a Su-37 and I'll show a picture for size comparison when I'm done. Danny.
  10. Well, not very well done. Flaws are becoming more obvious I think. 🤔 But progress is what matters. Quite excited this is entering the final stage, even though it's far from perfect! Danny.
  11. The light gray base coat has been applied. Parts that will have a different color are at least primed. After considering multiple paint schemes for a long time, I will now try to do the standard Aurelian Air Force scheme, my preferred option. This will be difficult to do without an airbrush. 😰 There are no decals, either. Since this model will be different from the versions in the game(s), it will have a custom mix of decals from the spares box. Danny.
  12. Time for priming. This is the first time I'm using Vallejo products, and I've read a couple of contrasting opinions. I had a good feeling when i did some tests with their gray primer, so I sanded the entire fuselage and applied two light coats. I'm not enthusiastic about the covering abilities 😕, but this is primarily for adhesion anyway. Danny.
  13. There is currently no detail inside the wheel wells and the weapons bay. I'm not sure what to add, but there needs to be something. Meanwhile, some missiles are being prepared for that one open weapons bay. One ASRAAM and two AMRAAMs will be used. The ASRAAM will even get a clear tip. These will be about the last parts taken from the spares box. The following photo shows the majority of the parts of this model on the table. Note the nozzle (not yet painted at that time) and the installed TVC petals. The latter were rather complicated. Due to my cus
  14. This is the center engine nozzle, a spare part from a MiG 1.44 kit. It is quite a large part and fits this purpose well. Then I took a section from a pod (1/32 F-15) and added a strip of PS with serrations. In the game, this engine can assist during STOL. Other than that, it functions like the other two engines, but without TVC. Edit: I intended to add some afterburner detail to the insides of the engines, but eventually abandoned this, so the insides are just plain black. Danny.
