  1. This is a great looking model for sure, but can you tell me a little more about that super nice grass on your base? Chris
  2. Joel, That looks superb, and that phantom is even better! If mine turns out as well as yours I will be very pleased. Thanks for the info. Chris
  3. Thanks for the tips guys. I had already planned to be mixing progressively more and more white with my blue although it did not occur to me to try gull gray. Chris
  4. Here is a really nice (and lengthy) SBS of someones process of this. http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/t/85545.aspx?sort=ASC&pi240=47 Chris
  5. I am planning to build a WWII US Navy plane and really want my model to have that super faded chalky blue color that looks so weathered and beaten up. I have seen some great models with this finish and would like to hear how some of you recreated this. I am including a pic of someones super-nice model as an example. I am not sure who did it or even where I found it (long ago). Chris
  6. I also recently bought one bottle of Model Color just to try it. I painted a couple of small parts with it and when it was dry I was able to scratch the paint off with absolutely no trouble. I removed all of the paint and primed the parts and repainted with the same result. I was pretty dissapointed. Chris
  7. Loving that faded paint! Will you also be fading the decals/markings? Chris
  8. Love that faded paint, chalky-looking finish! Chris
  9. I had heard that Wing Nut Wings was sort-of like this. I really dont know though. Chris
  10. I too have trouble with Squadrons website. It seems like most of the time there is a sale the website messes up and wont show the page I want to see. I have always wondered if it was just me. Chris
  11. I second the request for some nice pics, it seems to be pretty impressive. Also, if it is not too much trouble could you put something in a pic for a size reference so we can see just how huge it really is??!! Chris
  12. Your painting abilities are absolutely top-notch. Wow! Chris
  13. That bike looks very real to me. Great job on a realistic and super clean build. Chris
  14. Man, that is some great looking paint work, wow! Chris
  15. Incredible, I wish I could see a video of you painting this!! No kidding!!! Great job sir Chris
  16. This is an absolutely fantastic paintjob!!! I would love to know what method you used to mask the various camo colors. Chris
  17. Make sure you do not get the kind for wood floors, the bottles are very similar. I bought mine at Walmart
  18. Dont have a whole lot of advice on what you should do with your current planes. Although you may want to consider using them as practice painting surfaces. You cannot practice painting techniques or airbrushing too much. As for your future modeling I have your answer...slow down. I know that you want to 'hurry up so you can see it done' right? Keep reminding yourself while you are building 'I bought this model to enjoy building it and have the pride of accomplishment on a nice completed model'. When someone rushes a build they cheat themselves out of those enjoyments. They dont get a lot of
  19. Good for you! Cant imagine how you must feel.
  20. Make sure the mineral spirits you get is clear. I have seen some some that were low-odor and 'environmentally safe' and they were a weird milky white color. Almost needless to say they were not acceptable.
  21. The news seems to be making a big deal about this plane being 'trapped' here due to the short runway. Wouldnt they just need to offload some cargo or fuel as has been previously mentioned to make the plane light enough to use this short runway? I have no idea, just asking. Chris
  22. Absolutely incredible. I am 'blown away' Chris
  23. This model is beautiful, but to me it is your photographs of it that really steal the show. This is some really fantastic photography here! Would you mind explaining a little on how you go about it? Chris
