Modelling mainly 1/48 & 1/72 post war UK/US jets, singing, playing the violin, reading, kid's homework!
  1. Just about everything you could ever want to know about the F-16, especially for modelling! £30 inc. UK postage.
  2. Calling this finished although I'm by no means happy with it. See here for an in progress string: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...p;#entry1060696 It's a nice kit & to be honest, most of the issues were mine although the delicate engine parts are not the best idea. Generally I'm not known for my "stickability" & more than once I was tempted to bin it but at £100 a pop, I wasn't willing to kiss off the money! Would I build another? Yes! And I've hopefully sourced an example!
  3. I've just been told that I've won the above for taking part in the Airfix Modelworld Questionairre! Sadly not my subject or scale so it's available if required. £95 inc P+P (UK only) or might consider a WNW model as exchange. PM me if interested.
  4. GO FOR IT! There was a build article in SAM a few months back of the WNW RE8 which inspired me to have a crack at a WNW kit. I ordered the DH9A Ninak from Hannants & the Re8 direct from WNW in NZ (I'm in the UK). I'm working my way through the Ninak & it's the best modelling fun I've had in years. I'd not built a biplane since I was a kit knocking together the Airfix range. I cut my teeth late last year with a Silver Wings Woodcock which has some pretty basic rigging so nothing too demanding. They (WNW)really are superb kits. Never tried a wood grain finish? No worries - an acr
  5. I'm working on a commission build of Harrier ZG478 with the tail code 68A, using the 1/32 Trumpeter kit. Can anyone assist with the sourcing of the necessary codes? The serials (ZG478) are black with the tail number (68A) in white & apparently slightly larger than the serials.

  7. So France loose TWO pool matches, barely making it into the QF, beat an underperforming England (no worries with that, England simply weren't good enough!), scrape through by a single point against Wales who played with 14 men for nearly an hour & VOILA, they're in the final! Funny old game eh! Still hoping for a French win but unless they all turn up on Sunday & play as they should, it aint gonna happen.
  8. Don't forget the 1/48 Classic Airframes offering, hard to find thought nowadays.
  9. Been away from ARC for a while but I'm back now! I Lost count of how many times this nearly flew into the wall! I used a KMC cockpit which wasn't a good fit although I perseviered with it - then discovered that the hood won't close with this item (may have been me but I don't think so!). Main issue was painting. I like to use Alclad polished aluminium but when it came to painting stage, I discovered I had no gloss black primer. No problem I thought I'll use their grey primer. Not a good move & it all had to come off. Waited for a can of gloss black to arrive & applied it when it
  10. Got the rather nice Silver Wings kit but their instructions are totally devoid of colour call outs. The cockpoit is set in a metal skinned area, except the lower half which is fabric clad. I'm assuming red dope fo the inner surface of the fabric area & natural metal for the metal clad upper parts? Also metal finish for the typical Hawker cockpit framing & rest of the assembly? The forward metal fuselage appears to be a dark grey colour (rather than NMF), any match for this? I'm using this rather helpful article for the engine!: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...amp;hl=woodco
  11. My method is to use a new 10 blade to gently scrape off the seam, then very fine wet & dry, followed by a canopy polish & a dip in Future/Kleer.
  12. To be frank, Neomega instructions are far from helpful being tiny drawings that often show litle of any use, even if they are there at all (I am sure I remember getting the cockpit for the Mirage IV without instructions & being told when I queried this "there aren't any!). However I have used this set & it's not rocket science. IIRC you must remove the forward projecting sills from the kit part & replace with the Neomega parts, also remove the rather basic rendition of the mechanism behind the cockpit on the kit part & replace with the triangular resin part. "Simples". HTH
  13. Nice pic, No wing fences but it shows I was also wrong with my demarkation between the white & grey!
