  1. Which is a totally irrelevant point since the Model III won't arrive until the end of 2017; at which time, the Supercharger network will be much larger than it is now (as of today, it covers 98% of the lower 48)
  2. By lobbying state governments to ban Tesla dealerships.
  3. Plus there are federal (and depending on where you live, state) tax incentives that'll lower that price.
  4. No, because Tesla paid those back to the DoE in 2013 - a full nine years early.
  5. F-35 stealth fighters to deploy to Japan next year
  6. And it hasn't been posted to YouTube because why?
  7. Australia's first F-35A pilot, Squadron Leader (SQNLDR) Andrew Jackson, says it is “easy to fall into the trap of thinking the F-35 is just another aircraft”. “The shell of the aircraft gets it to the fight, but it’s so much more than an F/A-18 Hornet replacement. We haven’t begun to scratch the surface of the F-35 capability. There’s more information, better information, faster information – it’s a real force multiplier. “Unlike the F-22, the F-35 is capable of sharing information with other aircraft," he said. Commander of the US Air Force’s 56th Fighter Wing, Brigadier General Scott Pleu
  8. There are four categories of storage at AMARC: Long Term – These planes are also maintained in flyable condition. They have either been retired, and are awaiting conversion to FSATs (drone), FMS sales, or the gov't simply doesn't have a current mission for, but plan to use in some manner down the road. (ie - the embargoed Pakistani F-16A/Bs that were later pressed into service with NSAWC, at least one B-52 was put back into service recently) Parts Reclamation – These planes are no longer in flyable condition, but are used as Cann birds for similar planes of type which are still flying.
  9. For every $1 the federal government spends operating the facility, it saves or produces $11 from harvesting spare parts and selling off inventory. It's easier to get a hold of a couple of old NASA OV-10s than it is a couple of Brazilian Super Tucanos. The USAF is looking for an aircraft able to perform counterterrorism operations rather than one that's able to destroy tanks and armored vehicles and both the A-29 and AT-6 can fill this role (although the A-29 is better suited for it). Textron's peddling the Scorpion for T-X, but it's a POS with a snowball's chance in hell of winning T-X, muc
  10. Boeing had Jack and Sh**, and Jack's left town. OV-10X was a paper project that was perfectly fine - as a concept. But getting it into production would have been a totally different matter. Not the least of which being, It would have needed all new new engines, as the original Bronco was always a bit underpowered. So even IF there are engines out there that one can use that are off-the-shelf, they still have to be integrated with the airframe. That means testing, that means new software has to be written for the engines since the engine controls is tied to the control laws of the basic aircraf
  11. Just build a wall. Problem solved.
  12. Because SR-71s weren't the only Blackbirds...
  13. They would have flown A-10s, but the cars would have outrun them.
  14. NASA Langley's site offers free downloads for Kindle and other e-reader devices of various texts on their programs. One of which is NASA's F-16XL program: Elegance in Flight: A comprehensive History of the F-16XL Experimental Prototype and its Role in NASA Flight Research Enjoy.
