  1. I never really was a contest builder and I mean NEVER lol I have mostly older kits in the stash nowadays, mostly old Revell, Monogram, AMT, ESCI and so on, I only add little bits to the whole in the effort to get back to the level I was at when I left the hobby years ago, but its slow going. Hopefully after school tomorrow I'll get to sit down and do some more work to this one, and I still havent heard back from Tamiya America yet............
  2. @DrGlueblob then you know what I'm dealing with lol, you'll be surprised at how well the plastic sands, overall it relatively easy to work, its just how ungodly think it is. this ones only for ceiling display though, I dont want to polish it too much, I just want to expand and refresh my perished skills so to speak.
  3. thanks Harold, its been an eye opening experience so far. the plastic os so thick its easiest worked with with a razor saw and motor tool . I sent Tamiya America an e-mail about buying the sprues for their F-84G to give this model a cockpit upgrade. Once I get a reply from them and get the parts I'll be cookin with gas.
  4. So I got the other tail pipe fitted and installed and I took some better pictures of the final assembly. From the outlet and from the inlet side
  5. I bought this little gem to add to my nephews growing collection of aircraft hanging from his ceiling in his bedroom at his grandparents house. Recently I've gotten back into the assembly stage of this model, and friends she one rough kit. Everything is very basic and I believe this kit has its roots back to the late fifties, and probably earlier, and it shows in spades. The first thing I did was remove the heat exchanger louvers on the fuselage spine, they didnt line up or look right so I cut them out. On a side note as well, the plastic is white and looks like of like Ivory soap, its
  6. I just sent them an e-mail about the two sprues I want to buy, hopefully I'll hear back from them soon , thanks Jennings
  7. I'm trying to build a more presentable Lindbergh F7U-1 Cutlass, and through more luck than anything else, I came across a ten dollar Tamiya F-84 and after comparing pictures of the Cutlass pit and the Thunderjet pit I decided it was close enough for Gubment work and want to use the Tamiya parts but I dont want to part out my new 84. How does one order spare sprues from Tamiya? Thanks for the help
  8. Once you finish this build I'm going to use one of the pictures as a background for my computer
  9. are her legs white metal? Youve got me jones'n like crazy to build one of my two Lancasters in 72 scale great work
  10. Looks good, I can just imagine how small that really is
  11. NICE, thats about all I've been building lately myself is ceiling hangers
  12. youre coming right along, I'm looking forward to more pictures of progress
  13. Always liked the looks of the Horsa, and I cant even imagine the amount of weight you had to use , good looking model
  14. NICE Sorry to hear your problems with the exhaust collector, but man thats still a sweet build
  15. you know I have a feeling that if it was me doing this conversion, once I got good and deep into it, Trumpeter would issue a 23UB LOL I hope you post pictures of your progress
  16. thanks for all the replies. Nimrod77 gave me the info I needed in a PM, now, does anyone have the crew of the Revell 1/48 Apollo CSM crew theyd be willing to sell or trade me?
  17. Yesterday I went to my local e-bay seller who I buy models from on a pretty regular basis and walked out with a free Testors 1/48 Blackbird less its original box, all still in unopened plastic bags. Only hitch was the decals arent in all that good of shape. Heres my question(s), one-does anyone make suitable aircrew for this kit, I mean in the correct pressure suits and such, and two- anyone have a line on another decal sheet and a good approximation of the "black" for painting the airframe........... and for those questioning my questions, lol, I'm building this model in flight to hang fro
  18. I might pick up the Hasegawa 32nd scale kit and meld the two or just to compare one to the other
  19. Prototype, the shapes are right but the cockpit is beyond basic and the landing gear could use major improvement
