  1. Title pretty much says it all. I need a set of Monogram Harrier nozzles in 1/48. I'm trying to build an AV-8A, but I'll take some from any boxing. Of course, I'm happy to pay for the parts and cover shipping. Please drop me a reply or personal message. Thanks! -O (This is also posted in the Jet Modeling and Spares Box forums.)

  3. Hey ARC, I'm hoping I can jump in on this GB. I know I'm a little late to the party, but I think I can crank out a build before the deadline. I'm just sitting around waiting for some parts to be delivered to finish up a couple of other projects, so I figured I'd take another project off the shelf to keep the mojo pumpin'. (You know what they say about idle hands...) I was able to snatch up Hasegawa's F-16B and some additional goodies for free. I bought a few things from a vendor at a swap meet, and he threw in the kit as a bonus. Apparently, he got it from someone else
  4. Hey ARC, thanks for the pat on the back. Much appreciated! Hey fulcrum1, you should, it's a nice little kit! Cheers all, -O
  5. 2021 was not as productive for me as 2020 was. Still, I'm happy with what I was able to crank out. I'm getting ready to kick off 2022 with a few project ideas, so I'm hoping that this new year will be more productive. Anyway, here are the 3 I was able to bang out. Revell 1/48 Stearman PT-17 Fujimi 1/48 AH-1J Fujimi 1/48 AH-1G (kitbash) Thanks for looking everyone. I wish you all a safe and healthy 2022. Cheers, -O
  6. Mr. Happy and usmcski, thanks for the compliments! It's nice to see one of my old builds "resurrected." Hey usmcski, I did the same...twice! Once back in 2019 to build a USMC AH-1G and again recently to build an ARMY AH-1G. Thanks for looking and again for the kudos! Cheers, -O
  7. That's nothing but awesomeness right there. -O
  8. OK everyone, I finally got started on my Tomcat. I have a couple of Hasegawa 'cats in the stash, but I decided to use this pig's ear for this GB. I think Tomcats look best in Jolly Rogers or Wolfpack markings, but I don't plan on "wasting" either of my VF-1 or VF-84 sheets on this kit. I've decided to go with some "special" markings, but you're going to have to wait and see what I have in store. I'm going to build this kit mostly OOB, and I got started with the cockpit. The only extra that I added to the office was a small disk of iridescent film that I punched for the HUD.
  9. I used decals exclusively on the nose of my Thunderbolt. What I did was cut along the line separating each "row" back to about the second "column." Doing so helped the big decal lay down over the complex curves of the cowling. Then I made sure the last black squares along the forward edge of the cowling overlapped a white square, for the sake of opacity. As you can see, it worked out OK for me. Hope this helps. Good luck! Cheers, -O
  10. Hey ARC, I've read that one way (The only way?) to get a decent AH-1G in 1/48 is to bash Fujimi's AH-1S and AH-1J boxings. Well, I tried it. Again. This is the second time I've attempted this. The first time represented a USMC AH-1G. I was so happy with the way the first one came out that I promised my brother (an Army vet) that I'd build one representing the Army. So, I did. Before I go any further, I want to dedicate this build to, and thank, Rob M. (Mig). He saved my bacon and came through with a replacement canopy after I damaged the first one. Also, he sent me some amazing ref
  11. I found this video: 360 view from inside You can "grab" and "rotate" the video as it plays. It looks as thought the framing is gray. Also, this picture seems to confirm that. -O
  12. Thank you everyone. Your compliments are much appreciated! Cheers, -O
  13. OK gang, I'm posting some (OK, a lot!) of photos of my second for the year. This is my recently finished AH-1J. This is Fujimi's kit in 1/48 with Cobra Company's resin cockpit. It's the first time I used a resin cockpit in one of my builds. It was a challenge, and a great learning opportunity, for me. The ECS hoses (wire wrapped in finer wire), turret-opening cover/cannon surround (sheet styrene), pitot (styrene rod and very fine tubing), RHAW receivers on the nose (punch sheet stryrene), FOD covers (red napkin soaked in diluted white glue) and rotor tie down (paper strip with a r
  14. Hey ARC, here's my first for the new year. I actually got it done back in late January, but I'm barely getting around to sharing it here. When I decided to build it, I wanted to go with something a little different. While I was looking for inspiration and references online, I found a restored airshow bird with an attractive scheme. Mine is loosely based on that airframe. It's not even close to being perfect, but I'm happy with my first attempt at a biplane. I learned a lot during this build. I think it's another solid 3-footer that will look good among the other 3-footers on my she
  15. Hey Bo105Flyer, I thought about that since I have a -T and -W in the stash. As it turns out, no, they're not the same. That would have been an easy fix, but it turns out it wouldn't have worked. Thanks for the input though! -O
  16. hueycrew, I'm looking for 1/48. -O
  17. Hey ARC, I'm looking to bash an AH-1J and -S into another AH-1G. Does anyone have a spare canopy or scrapped kit that they would be willing to part with? My -1J canopy is damaged. I'm looking to pay handsomely for the part and shipping. Please post in the thread, PM me, or email at oortiz10 AT yahoo DOT com. Thanks, -O
