  1. Hey gang, My shots may not be up to par with some of the others posted in this thread, but hey, I got a few to share so what the heck... These are from Miramar '08. Saturday's show. Enjoy! -O
  2. Hey gang, I’m kicking around the idea of building an ol’ Revellogram F-14A Tomcat in VF-1 markings (Superscale 48056). I really dig the old school hi-viz markings! I’m doing it in the grey over white scheme and I have two questions for the pros. 1) Was the demarcation line between grey and white normally straight or “wavy†along the front fuse and engine nacelles? Was it sharp or feathered or both (sharp along the front fuse and engine nacelles but feathered along the leading edge of the wing glove area)? I say normally because I've seen some "profiles" and photos that have it
  3. Good to know. Thanks for the help! -O
  4. Hey gang, Just wondering if the fuel tanks on the new Es and Fs are the same as the ones used on the Legacy Hornets. Was thinking of using a tank from the Revellogram Legacy Hornet boxing on their new F version. Thanks, -O
  5. Nice work Brian. I'm TRYING to finish an Omar myself. I have the old Monogram A-18 boxing of the Hornet but it doesn't include the LEX fences. Did they -C boxing include 'em? I didn't think it did. If it didn't, are yours PE or styrene? I'm asking because I'm looking for some insight on making a set myself. -O
  6. Thanks gang. Anyone else with their two cents?
  7. Hi y'all, Just wondering if someone knows if the interior of the Hornet's speedbrake is white and bordered in red, like the gear doors? Specifically on VFC-12 Fighting Omar's birds. I'm looking at the blue and grey one-seaters, and the brown two bucket bird. I've seen shots of the -18s with the brake deployed, but I haven't seen what color the interior's painted. Can anyone provide any help? Thanks, -O(mar)
  8. So I was surfing the McAir GB pages and saw ThunderGrunt was wrestling with the seams on his A-18. Feeling relieved that I wasn’t the only being tortured by this kit, I decided to sit back down and forge ahead with the project. This past week I was finally able to get the seams to a point that I was happy with. But before I could get there, I had a small problem to deal with. The earthquake actually knocked one of the Revellogram kits off my table. When it hit the ground, it knocked the cockpit tub loose. Now I had a closed up fuse, with the seams practically finished, with a cockpit r
  9. Hey everyone, Here’s my first update for the ARC McAir GB. Funny thing happened on the way to the GB… After my last project, I was feeling a pretty confident. My builds came out better than expected and I thought I’d jump right in to something new. At first I thought about trying my hand at Revellogram’s 1/48 P-61, however, after taking a straw poll on some boards, I heard a lot of grief about the Widow’s fit issue. I did some research and read that the kit’s starting to show its age. So, I figured I’d try something different. I saw the posting for the McAir build and
  10. Hey ThunderGrunt, Good to see I'm not the only one wrestlin' with the seams. I have TWO in the pipe for this GB, and I've had to step away from the project for a while. I just started to get frustrated with the fit, and the constant filling and sanding. Your build looks like it's coming along great. Giving me some inspiration to get back on the horse with mine. Keep up the good work! -O
  11. Awesome finish, paint and weathering.
  12. Rob, Here's how I did a pair of 1/48 Mustangs. The link will take you to a thread on FSM. http://cs.finescale.com/forums/856586/ShowPost.aspx Cheers, -O
  13. Hey guys...can I play? I have a pair of old Monogram 1/48 "A-18 Strike Fighters" that I got second hand. If it's OK with you, I'd like to do 'em up as Two Bobs Fighting Omars. C'mon...I have to do these... Cheers, -Omar Ortiz
  14. Actually John, yes, that's him. Big bald black guy, booming laugh. He has since been promoted to full Col. You know him?
  15. Hello ARCers, I have an "interesting" request that I hope you can help with. My brother-in-law, Col. Jeff Horigan, is retiring from the USMC this summer. After a long (25+ year) career with the First Marine Division, two tours in OIF, a Bronze Star, and a stack of other citations, he's decided it's time to move on. While sitting in my garage working on some builds, I was thinking about how I could honor my brother-in-law's service in my own special way. Then, I came across the perfect sheet in my decal stash. The Two Bobs 1st MARDIV sheet (48-072). THAT'S IT! Even though he's not a

  17. Thanks Richard. I'll wait to see what Rotorhead has to say. Cheers!
  18. Rotorhead, If you could do that, I'd forever be in your debt. Just let me know what I can do for you in return. Cheers, -O
  19. Hey gang, Over the weekend, I went to the local swap meet and picked up an(other) airbrush. I got it used for a couple of bucks, so I don’t know what make it is. For $3 bucks, I’m not too worried if it doesn’t work exactly like new. I don’t even know if it’s a knock off or not. Anyway, the dude used to do airbrush tattoo painting and was getting rid of some old equipment. He blew some air through it, so I know it at least works. Anyway, I got it home and realized that it doesn’t connect to my airhose. (D’OH! Didn’t even think about differences in connector size.) I
  20. Right on Stephen! Are you gonna do it up as an F or G? I It's a very straight forward build. My kits had no real fit issues. The only thing I wish I would've done is spend a little more time on the wing/fuse joint. Like I said, I had to pry my wings off after my previous attempt, to get the camo done. When I reattached 'em, the seam wasn't as clean as I would've liked. Still, I remember that even out of the box, the wing/fuse seam needed a little attention, but not much. Good luck! Please post some pix along the way. Cheers, -O
  21. Thanks everyone. Looks like I'll have to poke around my LHSs and see if I can find the Milliput. If not, I'll give that Green Stuff a go. I appreciate the input! Cheers, -O
  22. I've heard of a million uses for Milliput. IIRC, it's a UK product, right? Anyone know where I can get some in the States?
  23. Good day all, I recently finished my most recent builds, and I'm thinking of chopping up some 1/48 pilot figures and filling the seats. My question is, after you've hacked up the figures and repositioned the limbs, what's the best "filler" to use? Normal "seam" putty? Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated. Cheers! -O
  24. More thanks guys! Thanks for the great response! Hey Mr B, you'd better get on your builds. I wanna see 'em when they're done. Again, thanks for looking. Cheers gang! -O
  25. Sure, I can wait. Thanks in advance for the help.
