Fine Molds 1/72 F-14A Tomcat released
dehowie replied to Andrew Maverick Taylor's topic in Jet Modeling
Fine molds are killing with those little F-14’s. Personally the only people who think Tamiyas F-14 is missing spark have not had the pleasure of building the best 1/48th kit ever released... AMKs kit already has overly heavy panel lines and enough big rivets to end that pipe dream. Fine Molds in 72nd and Tamiya in 48th...all we need is a new tool Tamiya F-14 in 32nd and we have the trifecta. -
The Hobbyboss kit prce has fallen dramatically about 2 months ago. About 30-40% cheaper..
-
Maybe hire them to carry more F-14’s home. Quite a few shops here in Australia are definitely using big mark ups on some new kits. The F-14A in some places is almost double the Japanese price. No wonder some many people are going direct..

Well i guess the Hasegawa weapon sets all 5 or 6 of them are “rip off” as well. Because “you” want a boat load of GBU-54’s a set which has a massive collection of weapons is a rip off? Jeez I want to do an A-6A carrying 22 Snakes cheapskate Hasegawa only include 6 per set...rip off! Lol... You cant be serious can you..

Roll on Tamiya. Particularly disapointed with the panel lines on the AMK F-14D kit being very comparable to the Mig-31. To me this means they are way to heavy to use the wings on a Tamiya kit as there will be a massive mismatch in panel line depth and size. I mght wing swap the HB kit and the TA kit wings as they are far more comarable in depth etc than side by side with the Mg-31 as from all the photos the F-14 look almost identical. Thanks to Tamiya will be taking a big suitcase to Tokyo when the D is released.

Of course. i have a site with quite a bit more n the military gallery. www.vortexaviationphotography.com

I just got back from photographng Red Flag and seriously the mismatching of missiles and pods on aircraft was as random as you coukd imagine. Between Elta pods, Alq-188’s, Aim-9’s and various Aim-120’s and ACMI’s you could have any arrangement and you woukd get a matching image. Alq-188’s on C/L then anything goes. Aim 120 and Aim 9 on wingtips some have one Aim 9 and one Acmi. Gas bags inboard and Eltas and Aim-9 outboard pylons. The Aim 120’s where sometimes common frequently different model. Loads varied per airframe daily. Some flew pretty clean only Aim-9’s

1/48 - Sukhoi Su-35 "Flanker-E" by Great Wall Hobby
dehowie replied to sda1976's topic in Jet Modeling
We really need GWH to do a straight SU-27 now. -
Here is one reason....TAMIYA... Whatever GWH choose to do ill buy as they are hitting it out of the park with every release. People got far to carried away with AMK’s Mig-31 compared to these kits. Nice yes but GWH stuff is stellar. Far more refined, better fine detail and beautiful panel lines that AMK could only dream of sadly looking at the F-14 images they posted.
-
Very happy for them to do an SU-25...right after they do an SU-27! The GWH SU-35 is one of the finest pieces of plastic ever to see the light of day. Anything they do will be welcome..
-
Take note thecprice on the Hobbyboss SU-34 has fallen massively in the last few weeks you can get them now for under 100USD... Taking advantage of the early release now dropping the price to stay competitive...

Which is the better 1/48 A-6E Hobbyboss or Kinetic?
dehowie replied to mungo1974's topic in Jet Modeling
Just get the Hobbyboss kit. Its not even a competition its so much better. -
Tamiya 1/48 F-16C. Was it a sales disappointment?
dehowie replied to ytsejam87's topic in Jet Modeling
Tamiya do what Tamiya “want” to do. The 32nd F-4E has been out for over 20 years selling in droves yet no slatted wing E version all that time. No Later E, G, S..etc. If you think a family F-16 is a miss how about half the F-4’s ever built... They drum to their own beat..thats Tamiya but boy im glad they are doing an F-14D. -
What great news awesome work by the big T. The best 48th kit ever released just got better...
-
Exactly my reaction when i was checking it...mind you the Hasegawa kit is the same in 72nd almost a meter to narrow and Mongram completely destroyed the chine being way to flat but the correct width. Here we are in 2018 and the Blackbird has only been done decently by one company...Italeri..
-
Cracking build!
-
Outstanding work!

The SR-71 was released 4 or 5 years ago. Chine is completely undersized. Other than that it is very tidy just looks very undersized from above with the chine almost a scale 3 feet not wide enough.

Looks like the mad trencher has been at work at AMK.... They look significantly deeper and wider than the Mig-31 which was already to prominent with regard to panel lines. Ouch... Off to a buy a couple more of Darrens F-14D conversions looking at those photos.

Having photographed the new Have Glass 5 at Red Flag only a few weeks ago the tone, sheen and metallic effect is directly proportional to both sunlight and angle of reflection. No one color has the properties of the real paint. In over ast conditions its a very dark almost gunship grey yet in bright sun and the correct angle it almost goes bronze in patches refelected. Ill put some pics up shortly but i think anyone who has seen the aircraft in the flesh knows what im talking about. The properties of this paint make it very difficult to capture it as a one size fits all typ

First review i have ever read which levels criticism for having to much detail in the cockpit! Nice review but i disagree the panel lines are “way to wide and way to deep”. if you want way to wide and deep go look at a Revell 48th B-1 lol. Good job on the review..
