  1. Monogram and Academy kits are very different. Monogram looks like an F-14..Academy looks like well im not sure but its front end is a mess and a half making Trumpeters worst effort look like a silk purse.
  2. Why would you want a G with hundreds of amazing nose art options when you can have another flat grey low vis marked monotonal gunship?
  3. To do an Argie A-4B a few small mods are needed. If you can track down either of the Hobbycraft kit or expensive Hasegawa they come with the parts needed. You need some radio antennas the main one being the ADF antenna on the top of the fuselage. Its teardrop shapped and quite large Hasegawa supply it in resin HC in styrene. There are several good builds online of the Argie Scooters. Good luck!
  4. Sorry didnt mean to come across like that maybe its the frustration in seeing a company who established a solid reputation for good engineering and research pouring it all down the drain. Its rare in the hobby you get a company who looked solid with good research and a nice base to launch from. The hyperbole was from many AmK fans who ignored plain issues and pretended they didnt exist. Amk was put on a pillar top as the best manufacturer today. Say one thing negative even negative in a constructive manner and you where labelled a heretic. A realistic assesment which severa
  5. The issue for them is they wont sell many at all. The serious F-14aphile wont touch it...the casual guy wont ever becable to buy it with Amk’s poor distribution network. They have succesfully isolated two key markets to only sell F-14’s to the Amk devotees who realistically would not even care if it looked like the Concorde. Even then most failed to put there money where there mouth is. Seriously how many will you buy with its massive panel lines, distorted aft end and various other issues when we have the beautiful Tamiya kit? I mean seriously how many will you buy?
  6. Its pretty decent. realistically no kit in any scale by any manufacturer has ever gotten the canopy/fuselage spine correct with a true omega shape so distinctive on the Thud.. Sad but true but the Trumpetboss 72 and 48th kits are closer than any others...except 144 Platz which are almost there.
  7. I think its more that they are nicely detailed and not split that makes the brass legs a solid option..along with the metal burner cans..
  8. Panel lines look terrible. Im exceptionally disapointed with this. I mean its not just average its worse than the Mig-31. We all said to be even close to Tamiya it would need to be better with much finer panel lines than the 32..it looks far worse. Ill grab one...if it had been close i would grab 5-6...sorry AMK ill be getting 5-6 Great Wall kits to go with my 6 Tamiya F-14’s. Disapointed to say the least as from an engineering view it looks solid but those panel lines are huge...wtf...
  9. What an awesome little B-1. Got a pair in Osaka wil def grab another. As mentioned resin or etch burners is going to add a lot but the rest is fantastic. Very nice indeed..
  10. Agree i have multiple of both and ill be building the KH kit..the new KH boxing with brass gear legs and burners is brilliant. KH nailed the nose shape and blend into the cockpit etc. A very good effort grab the release with the metal legs they are great...
  11. I have a pile of beautiful Tomcats...from Tamiya... They have beautifully fine panel lines...the engineering is easily the best i have ever seen in any plastic kit ever in my hands in 40 odd years of modelling and its shape is spot on. The questions remain if AMK can do all of those things as based off the Mig-31 the answer is no(panel lines). But hopefully they can get the shape sorted or it will literally be a Turkey of the Turkey... I have a pile of Mig-31’s and had high hopes for AMK being the next big thing but realistically Great Wall are the big thing and AMK sadly c
  12. The only Kinetic Hornet with the tail issue was the very first boxing of the C ie the launch kit. They where corrected after that first release. PS the Hasegawa Super Hornets are better ie quality than the original classic F-18.
  13. There is an online build on Yiutube by Andy and it looks nice..
  14. At almost $90 bucks with shipping ie i can buy another Tamiya kit for $10 less than the KA wings i can live with trimming the 1mm needed to get the slats correctly sized. For those with HB kits in stashes a free set of slatted wings is a far better option even if they need to spend 10 minutes on the trailing edge to resize them rather than parting with more money for wings which will most likely bend over time if you live in a warm environment. Not to mention you can buy a Tamiya F-14 for less well at least where i shop Tokyo and Osaka. ”Massively excessive”? You must have
  15. Based on having the MC H...based on spending hour upon hour upon hour pouring over hundreds of photos, plans and every B-52 kit available, based on spending hours walking around real B-52’s photographing them and helping where possible with correction sets. Just looking at the MC parts is a joy compared to the junk in the AmT kit box where shall i start? The soft plastic, huge panel lines, a mismatch of timeframes with reinforcing panels missed, added in incorrect places, engines out of size requiring replacement, incorrectly located ejection panels, vents missing, a wing with its we
  16. As for the debacle that the AMT is i’ll take the MC kit every day of the week and three times on Sunday. I sense a MC rip apart review coming on...
  17. Quite simply the MC B-52H is the very best available B-52H ever done in any scale and far better than any of the resin bashing options by some margin. Very glad to finally have a decent H to start from. Its only taken 50 years..lol.. Well done MC...
  18. There is already two kits with full flaps and slat detail available happy to donate wings to a Tamiya kit. The HB kit wings have scribing very close to Tamiya quality and they fit.... The HB kit is from a shape view still a nice F-14 especially compared to the photos of AMK’s current version. A Tamiya HB kit wing swap is easily achievable ending with two very similar F-14’s in terms of scribing quality and the shape of both certainly dont have the issues that may or may not effect the final AmK kit. I still doubt there scribing quality has improved that much over the Mig-31
  19. There is a revised set of instructions for the Kinetic Hornet you can download IIRC from Luckys website. It moght cure some of the construction issues. i think the scalemates link beloe has a pdf of the current sequence. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/kinetic-k48031-f-a-18c-hornet--956117
  20. At the end of the day if the kit was at least close none of the discussion re its back end would be happening no matter who posted the photos. AMK are obviously upset a competitor posted images of the kit but if the kit was actually correct and they did their job properly like the did on the Mig-31, who would even be talking about the issues? We would be commenting on how many we had additionally ordered not on its pooched rear end. Instead i bought another 3 Tamiya F-14D’s and hope the GWH kit is as good as their SU-35... The big issue now is that if its released as is the
  21. Tamiya F-14A, Tamiya F-14D, Tamiya F-16 and 1/32 Tamiya Corsairs....
  22. One thing that comes straight to eye as well is the width of the section from the vertical stab to the edge of the fuselage. It could be camera distortion but that outer section looks far to narrow ie distance tail to horizontal stab hinge if a line is drawn vertically. That whole outer sponson looks narrow, very narrow.
  23. I think that rear shot shows that the bladder area on the kit is far to high you can clearly see an upward curve in front of the stabilizer mount point. Im pretty worried this has pushed the wing up and may lead to geometry issues mid fuselage. Even in that photo of the kit you can see the intake tops look very very high relative to the canopy. I hope they put some overall images out.
  24. At least we have that option. I can live with the canopy blend are and will simply pull out the biggest baddest bastard file and shred the edges of that spine to give it a more palatable look. Its much of a muchance as to me the Trumpy kits have an overly curved spine more akin to a classic Hornet. So one needs more curve one less.
