Hi Brian I can only recommend it as much as possible..well other than the beer, whiskey and food! I only found out about the show as i was in the Volks store Osaka and a local pro modeller was packing up his magnificent Tamiya 32nd F-14D conversion to take. He spoke great English and letvus know about the show. Must of been some kind of Tomcat model off to see so many at one show was a big surprise. I love the tools you can get up there you can spend ages meandering around looking at the quirky zillions of things they come up with. AMK kits have fallen in price i

And while the F-14 gate goes on the absolutely beautiful Tamiya F-14D is selling for under 65 bucks in Japan..and selling by the truckload..Joshin in Osaka went from 24 to 5 in two hours..lol..horse bolted..another 3 to the collection..the never weighing popularity of the F-14 was evident st the Osaka hobby show a week and a bit ago..18 1/48th F-14’s in a regional show..2Hasegawa the rest Tamiya.. if you ever visit Japan make sure you time it to go to a big show the tools on display to buy are worth it alone..

Great news! Looking forward to getting them in the mail! -
G’day Jeffrey, the Hasegawa and Academy fuselages where proven conclusively incorrect in the ZM firestorm of photos and comparisons which went up 12-14 months ago. There was a particulary good topic going at HS with numerous comparison images they clearly showed fsr bigger issues on Academy and Has. Both have incorrect shoulder curves that start in the wrong place, flare incorrectly and are far worse than both reality and the ZM kit. The shape of both are incorrect in numerous aspects and the one thing proven was that ZM was the closest of the three in photos. I find i

What time frame be aware lots of 12th F-4’s where dorkless at some time if early on...

You mean a correction to the most accurate rear fuselage ever done in plastic of an F-4? Two years later nobody has ever shown thats its actually wrong ie conclusively from a post that pointed out an error off a test shot subsequently corrected. We have bedn shown test shots, opinions and discussion but no hard evidence what so ever. Plenty of opinions photos etc but no measurements conclusively showing anythng other than it is definitely the most accurate F-4 ever released in any scale. All we have proven is the Hasegawa and Academy kits are wrong in the rear fuse by quite

To the OP building either will get you a great looking Mig-31. To me and i have 4 Amk Migs and 2 HB ones the design/engineering is better on AMK but the scribing on HB is considerably better. Detail on both very from very good to average. Id overall get an AMK kit before the HB one however its far from as stellar and amazing as the AMK fan club would cheer blindly about. Enjoy your Migs!

Much prefer the Kinetic kit think its a wise choice from my seat. Big fan of Kinetics newer kits. CF-188’s are top subjects enjoy!

Fully agree with the exception that by molding the wrong shape wing the leading edge of the Monogram kit is to low changing the shoulder etc and the wing to me at least is to thin at the root. Still a great kit particularly for its time but she aint perfect and using it instead of images etc to base conclusions is not right. Plenty of Mongrams classics we love fail the blowtorch of scrutiny directed at new kits the B-52 is still a great kit. Acceptance that they are perfect and ideal are generally wrong. Given the far higher prices of the re-releases these days means in spi

Found this and its quite interesting. Not just these but for other B-52’s. The wing is actualy quite thick mid chord. It clearly has no flatsection mid chord and the wing is clearly asymetrical with the leading edge higher than mid chord line. As it does not have the leading edge fairing you can clearly see the upsweep of the lower surface of the wing section. The only flat section appears to be around where the flap would start. Which both MC and Monogram did correctly. https://www.flickr.com/photos/40159534@N02/22564129626 The wing does thin out rapi

B-52 wing section. https://goo.gl/images/UoUoRs i think you will see even with the angled section which hides the leading edge upward taper toward the fuselage that it is far thicker and way less tapered than the Monogram wing(sectionalky) as you presented quite clearly in your video. The point of maximum thickness is only just back from the leading edge not a long taper as per Monogram. Taking it for granted that the Monogram kit is “right” is IMO is not right. Looking at both the wing image above and any side photo illuminating the upward curve of the lower wing sect

Looking at Nigel’s video i would say he may want to go take a look st some better wing root images. Looking at both my images and others the wing section on the Monogram kit is far further from the actual aircraft. The Buff certainly does not at the join or inboard have anywhere near a flat botton wing section. This photo shows i think quite clearly Modelcollect got it pretty close. Perfect i doubt but its far better than the Monogram one. The upturn of the lower half of the wing section is clear to see in the image off this link which blows up to a nice size. https://www.t

There was a previous discussion on this aircraft here several years ago which may help. Its worth searching for there was excellent info on it that may assist.

Yes i used to visit him frequently but have not been to his shop for about 3 years. Great prices on everything easily one of the best shops in the world and i have been to plenty. Great guys in Singapore and so very skilled modellers.

I grabbed the C-5M and the B in Singapore for 90 Singapore dollars which was to be a great price. Nice kits!

Thats starting to come together well. Panel lines needed improvement and they look better than the initial test shots. Coming together nicely.

You may want to get your facts right on that.....

Well GWH do their releases in 48 and 72 so how far away is the 48th one? Prob a year or so but based off the SU-35 it will be a ripper.
-
Just had a look thrugh the first G release at a great retailer here called Miniature hobby. Must say the panel lines are far finer in person than via photo. Detail is very sharp indeed. Definitely looking forward to the H and early G...

No mate a limited few would far prefer an single course which even with the most minute of issues woukd make your kit basically worthless. Even if AMK nail the engineering and it fits well none of said guru’s have adequately explained how they will, Clean up sprue joins on two window sections with either i connection point maybe two for a perfectly clear edge that a single puece canopy provides. Further tell us how to glue the clear part to the frame leaving no residue which will be painfully obvious with only the most minor gluing complication. I am actually looking forwar

Well a single piece canopy is the best news I have heard for this kit. Very wise decision and at least now there is a backup and a far easier option to a multipart one. Well done AMK...

What is wrong with AMT/Italeri's 1/72 B-52 G & H offerings?
dehowie replied to Eli Raphael's topic in Jet Modeling
The new H from Modelcollect fixes pretty much all the errors on the G and looks like its going to finally be a decent Buff out of box. Check out the MC topic going...it has the corrections. -
How about some images of the critical canopy frame clear part fit. If that is pooched or even marginally out it will sink the kit irrespective of any other part in the kit. That overly complex concept of splitting the canopy into multiple parts is to me critical if that is off by a poofteenth the kit is dead in the water. Panel lines on the access haches still look heavy but it could be light or the test shot. Also hope those spoilers fit well. I hope for AMK’s sake it fits well...

Well done on the seat Gabor very nce work! Glad to know its the right size!
