  1. how about including the red hour glass with white outline applied to the bottom of PAV-1 before its first flight but removed shortly afterwards?
  2. Looks outstanding like all your work. Did NASA ever fly any of the early T-38's with Day-Glo from the early 1960's? Also during the period of the late 1970's when the aircraft were being painted with the baby blue bellies were any of the T-38's of NASA painted in that scheme? I cannot recall ever seeing one up at Dryden painted like the F-104's etc. Anyway looks to be a great sheet and certainly will buy a couple of them.
  3. Looks like the viper sheet is another great decal and lots of value. Going to your web site to order this now. Great job!
  4. If you are going to go to the trouble to cast a kit, consider using the Welsh Models kit. The Modelcraft kit is the Revell kit and was produced off advertising materials. It looks like an L-1011 but misses the nose, engines etc shapes in a big way. Look if you get a chance at a 1/100 Doyousha/Nitto L-1011 and you'll see what the aircraft should look like and what shapes are off or missing.
  5. Revell has the Otaki C-5 and DOX molds. Don't know about the L-1011 molds being in the bay or not, but I have heard rumors that Revell also got the 1011 as part of the purchase package way back when, but the marketing folks thinking was that Revell has their own L-1011 kit and we don't need there's. If indeed Revell has the tooling, no one at Revell at this point knows about it and the molds have not been discovered in some back corner of a warehouse. Old tooling is sometimes scrapped or deteriorates with rust etc to the point of no longer being of use. The tooling for the Otaki L-1011 (1
  6. The MiG-25 is going to be awesome!
  7. The Monogram F-80 is a really great kit both in outline and in capturing details. I know Bill Koster also having worked with him and Monogram during this time frame but shortly after the F-80 was done. Here is I think the strong points of the Monogram kit (now Revell) and if you look at the Hawk T-33 (now Testors and Italeri) (I should mention that John Andrews of Hawk Models had one of the best eyes for shapes in the business) kits you will see the same things captured correctly. The nose profile, the area in front of the intake along the fuselage where it has a smooth curve into the intak
  8. That's the way an airliner should look! Sure miss the old CP Air, Pacific Western, Transair etc! Great job and great looking classic!
  9. Might I suggest A-1E of the 602nd SOS aircraft 135206, tail code TT. This is one of five A-1E flown on the Son Tay Raid. Aircraft wore SEA camo with black undersides and no national insignia. The A-1E's were Peach 1 thru 5 for the mission. The command aircraft, an HH-53 #357 as Apple One, became an MC and was retired after its last mission in Iraq to the AF Museum. Also on Fishers aircraft look closely at the serial number on the fin, at some point the rudder was replaced and the numbers on the fin do not match, the forward I think are in the standard AF 45 degree clipped block while on t
  10. Yes, they did but Revell will likely not issue any of the Hasegawa kits again as the cost is too high from Hasegawa now.
  11. Just decaling Monogram Harrier using 48027, and they are just the best. The quality and detail are so superior to the old Microscale sheets I had (and intended to use). The decals make my so-so modeling efforts look good. Anyway, the art, color and printing are outstanding and just a joy to use. Thanks Caracal!
  12. First F-111 I saw up at Edwards was natural metal (I think it was the #2 aircraft) and that was in 1965.
  13. I do not have an FS 595 color fan, so I have been relying on paint manufactures colors to match colors. Used Tamiya AS 27 for the 36118 as I have for F-16's and F-15E's. The color may be a little light but reviews I have found on this color I have not found anyone calling this color as being terribly inaccurate. Between the Tamiya color and the decal, the colors are close, and will not produce the contrast between colors to make the badge show as well as it should. I will call the problem one of incorrect paint color used by myself and apologize for saying your decal is too dark. One
  14. Problem with colors on 48029 decals. The gray for the badge and also for the figures is way too dark on the decal, almost the same color as the dark gray FS 36118. Color should be a light gray. Should have noticed this before I started painting the model, will now have to repaint. The color shown on your artwork is good, but the gray on the badge is really dark and makes the decal unusable. Very dis-apointed in the color goof, as everything - artwork etc is first rate. I realize now that the printed color on your decals may be significantly different than what you show in your illustr
  15. Raymond, your kits just keep getting better and better. Have not gotten your Kfir yet, but will ordering it soon. Just finishing up the T-45 and have really enjoyed the build. The Kfir was an unexpected surprise to be sure.
  16. Looking forward to what you do with the A-3 decals. One of my all time favorite aircraft, after seeing them fly up at Pt. Mugu for years. Perhaps one of the birds from the Naval Missile Center (NMC)?
  17. Old monogram decals, the problem is that as a cost saving measure, Monogram went with a local printer (well in Wisconsin anyway) who convinced Monogram that using 4color process printing with an UV overcoat would produce better decals and at much less cost. They would screen print certain colors like white, use foil hot stamp for metallics on cars etc... The problem is that the UV ink once cured under an UV light, shrunk slightly so when you soaked the decal off the paper all it would do is curl. The second issue is that the UV ink does not react to any of the decal softners, so the decal i
  18. also on the Michigan, looks like the band behind the Michigan is dark blue, shouldn't it also be black?
  19. hoping for an "Evil Eyes" HMM-163 bird from Viet Nam.
  20. Just got my mail today and the Caracal decal for the AV-8A/C. WOW this is a great decal sheet. Thanks Caracal for doing this decal. I can toss my old Microscale AV-8A decals! The artwork is truly outstanding as is the printing and instruction sheets. My money was well spent again, purchasing a Caracal decal.
  21. simply, a 48th scale F-86A-E with slatted wing (slats deployed).
  22. The conversion looks awesome, but if Revell is doing an F later, might as well wait and save a lot of grief (I mean cutting and putty). Thanks for the advice and insight.
  23. I am considering building (converting) a 747-8I into the freighter version the 8F. I think I could cross kit either the Revell 747-100 upper fuselage with the Revell 747-8I or Zevesta to get the proper upper deck configuration. A couple of questions. Would the Airfix 747 upper fuselage be better than the early Revell 747 as it lacks the Sat Antenna hump? I have read somewhere that the wing location in relation to the fuselage plugs is different for the 8F from theI 8I. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions on this. May be much more complicated than I am thinking so I really do appreciat
  24. My understanding of the KC-46 was that the fuselage will be sized between the 200 and the 300, that was said when Boeing won the competition. At that time there was also some talk about using the 767-400 wing, but that has seemed to change now to using the wing from the 300. I agree that before we see this plane enter service it will have either winglets or they will have decided to use the raked winglets like were used on the 400 wing.
  25. I have two very poor photos of the Tropic Moon pod carried by A-1E's in SEA, nothing showing details of the front of the pod. It looks like they used one of the rounded end fuel tanks to mount all the electronics in and then put a new front end on the pod for the optical sensors. Does anyone have any info or details about this pod? Thanks
