  1. Gents, Aqua Coat was the ticket, worked like a charm!! Thanks for the replies and suggestions!
  2. Thanks for the replies fellas! I'll definitely have to give Aqua Coat a go. I also came across Mig's Hard Rock Varnish. It's supposedly formulated "for protecting all types of paint before applying decals or enamel and acrylic weathering products." Might give that a try as well. Gabe
  3. Folks, Recently I made the switch over to acrylics - Mig, AK, MRP, etc. - from good ol' Testors MM Enamels, and it has been a bit of a learning curve. I used to paint, weather with Flory, decal, and then seal coat with MM Lacquer. Bulletproof. Now, acrylics seem pretty "soft" - easily scratched or rubbed off (but they spray GREAT!!), so I am wanting to protect my paint job prior to weathering. I recently painted and then put a coat of Mig Lucky Varnish Gloss on ahead of anticipated weathering w/ Flory. To my dismay, the clear coat rubbed off pretty easily (it had dried for well ove
  4. Evening gents, So I'm thinking of doing a 57th FIS F-15C, and I have the 1/48 DACO sheet. As far as I can tell from ref pics, this sheet would put the Eagles in Kef somewhere between '92-'94. My questions are: 1. Were these MSIP birds? 2. If so, did they have the MPCDs on the instrument panels? 3. Did they have the tailhook fairings? 4. Did the ACES II have the canopy breakers attached on the headrests? I've tried google, but the info/pics are a bit lacking...any info is much appreciated!
  5. Folks, Looking for Fightertown's 48-080, aka, "Fightertown USA Pt 2". If anyone has a copy they'd not mind parting with, I'll gladly pay, or offer up a trade from the stash (majority is 1/48 USN/USMC related). Let me know, appreciate it! Thanks, Gabe
  6. Hey folks, Just wondering if anyone has one of these in the stash that they'd be willing to part with. Drop me a message if you do. Thanks!
  7. Outstanding info, fellas - really appreciate the insight!!
  8. Alrighty folks, OCD question time - what actual color were the Honeycomb NO STEP stencils on Navy F-4s? I've see red, black and yellow. Also, were the stencils for "CAUTION" and "WARNING" yellow/red w/ black text, or all red, or all black? I know the AM guys are pretty meticulous with their research and products, but I've seen all varieties from them (Furball, AoA, sheets on eBay, etc), as well as from the manufacturers (Tamiya, Academy, Hasegawa). Is this a case of the birds come from the factory one way/color and then get repainted in the fleet or during depot? Or is it a timeframe based thi
  9. I am by no means an expert, but the late A-7E CAG & CO Birds that flew in Desert Storm had black hawk chevron, with blue checkerboards, blue vertical tail tips, a blue actual hawk logo, and in some cases a red/white/blue fuselage/Langley stripe. I am doubtful that the squadron would go from black markings to blue to do a retro throwback scheme. Also, the squadron’s name WAS the Blue Hawks. Just my .02 - YMMV.
  10. Typically it’s found only on the right tip tank only. While it is an option to have it on both tips tanks, it (slightly) reduces the fuel capacity of the tanks. Add to that they burned out on the regular, and it is a (relatively) uncommon sight.
  11. Hi guys, Looking to track down this sheet, the FAGU markings in particular. Wiling to buy or willing to trade. I have a pretty substantial decal stash of 1/48 NAVAIR jets (Furball, Fightertown, Eagle Strike, Afterburner, etc.), as well as some Marine and USAF jet stuff too. Drop me a line if you're willing to deal. Thanks, Gabe
  12. Collin, Outstanding info, exactly what what I was looking for - thank you!! Follow Q up w/ the drop tank/TER combo - anything specific as to which side the tank/MER went on, or didn't it matter? Appreciate the insight and appreciate your service!! -Gabe
  13. Gents, Thinking of building a Viking from VS-31 on the Ike in '87. I'm able to cobble together the markings from a couple of sheets I have in the stash. Just wondering what, if anything, they would be carrying on the pylons during this timeframe. As usual, appreciate any input from those that know/have been there, saw that!! Thanks, -Gabe
