  1. That is exactly what I am doing. Thanks for the heads up. Richard
  2. I already installed them, I should have kept in mind what you and Floyd was telling me about the seats. Oh well, next time. Thanks Gino Richard
  3. You are absolutely right about the seats Gino. I made them one whole seat when I remembered what Floyd had said but forgot about it. I don't want to do the seats again because they took a long time, I will just use my seats the way that they are, sorry Floyd for the mistake. Thanks Gino for the heads up. Richard
  4. Looking at my model, I have been told that when I find a subject (reference picture) that I wanted to model the subject after, keep to it. So I am modeling my Kiowa off of this reference picture: While waiting for the milliput to cure, I started on the console between the pilots. I have always wanted to add switches to a console but I have never done so before. Looking at the reference picture, I see 3 switches on that console. I decided that I wanted to try it. I broke out a IP from the black hawk that I will never use and took out my smallest drill bit and proceeded to drill two ho
  5. Making the seats as one. Firs thing that I did was put in the map section on the back wall so I can measure where the seats are to be placed. Then I taped the back of the seats into position. Then I taped the wall to the cockpit floor. Then I put the lower seat in the position that I wanted them to be in and then I glued the seat to the back of the seat. Now making sure the glue didn't go all the way through the seats onto the plastic, I then removed the seats from the wall and they stood rigid Then using a very small piece of Milliput, I made small strips and joined the two together.
  6. Also while creating my seats, I knew that I wanted to add some sheep skin to the seats. So I created some templates to add the sheepskin onto the seats cover. Once again, I don't know if i will use it. It depends on the final rendition, but since this is my first time building seats, any feedback, good or bad, would be appreciated. Richard
  7. I created my new seats from Milliputt. Now because this was my first time creating seats from anything, It took me a little while.....lol! After about a hour of shaping and reshaping, and starting over and repeating the process again... I think I came up with my seats. They are not done yet and I don't know if I will use them in the build, it depends on how they look when I am done. I don't think it looks bad... Now in the above picture, I had to make the seats in two parts, the seat and the back of the seat. I plan on putting them together as one seat when I am done. Richard
  8. Thank you Floyd for answering all my questions. I plan on doing a accurate Kiowa so I looked at some ref pictures on the web and had some questions on certain parts. Thank again. Richard
  9. I will do that CC. I didn't know that we had a Modelers Club in Vegas. Just give me a heads up when you guys are meeting and I will be there. Richard
  10. OK. So I tried to use Milliputt to create my new seats......lol......... :whistle:/> I think that they turned out alright. Now I have to wait for the milliputt to get rock hard so I can file it to shape. The seats are on the left and the sheepskin cover for the seats are on the right. The reason why I wanted to create the sheepskin separate from the seats is because in my mind, they will be harder to add on the sheepskin when they are together. We will see what they look like tomorrow after I sand them. :whistle:/> LOL..... Richard
  11. Just a few questions: Pictures speak better that words: #1..Is this a lamp? And can it be moved? I see some kiowas with the "lamp" up near the top of the roof near the console just above the pilots head. #2 Don't worry about #2, I found the answer out. #3. The seatbelts. Can I use the seat belts from the UH-60 PE set that I have for the kiowa? #4. What is this part? And is it in all kiowa's. Is this the flight book or log book(I really don't know what it is called...:mental: )? Thanks for the information guys Richard
  12. So I was looking at another picture of a modern Kiowa, I saw something on the glare shield that I have to reproduce to make the glare shield look more like a modern Kiowa. And in my haste to try the Archer rivets, I put them on incorrectly, this gives me the perfect time to replace them. OK so I put tape so I won't file away all the details and continued filing away all of the indents at the top of the glare shield. Then I applied a strip of card to the area where I filed away the indents about 1 cm wide. And even though I looked at the ref picture, I knew that I wasn't able to
  13. Thank you Gino, I will look for them when I get his update set next week. Richard
  14. I have not heard about the interior set from Zactomans. I went on the forum and asked the question when the interior set will be out but got no reply from Chris. It will be out after I complete the Kiowa.....lol Richard
  15. Not sure I am happy with the seats: But looking at a modern Kiowas seats, I don't know if I have the skills to reproduce this: Maybe I will try to mess with milliput and try to recreate the seats but I have never done so before. But you will never know unless you try right? Richard
  16. Tonight I was working on the middle console wall section. The first thing that you will notice is that I added some extra card to the wall section. The reason why is because I wanted my wires to go up to the extra wall section that I put in. I'll explain that later....lol The second thing, which is a first for me, I painted the wall before I glued it to the cockpit. If I glued it to the cockpit and then painted the side walls, it would be nearly impossible to attach the wires to the main IP, as far as I am concerned.....lol Second thing is, I am using EZ line and that is already pain
  17. Today I tried Archer rivets for the first time. I also have the set that Micro-Mark sells. You get two full sheets when you order the Micro-Mark rivets so I am using the Micro-Mark set when I do my MH-60s build. I have always wanted to try them but I didn't have the gumption to do so. So I cut the film very close to the rivets like I heard a lot of people that have used this product say that I should do. Then I dipped them in water (and from what I can see, they don't have to be submerged in water for a long time). And then I applied them to the glare shield where I filed away the riv
  18. They make everything very nice. I am use to Tamiya kits, that is why I was so confused when I started the DAP. Some parts didn't go together as well. But that what makes modelling so much fun.....lol Richard
  19. For some reason the post that I just put in was duplicated. So sorry
  20. I think that jets are a lot easier to build. Except for the WWII planes. On the WWII planes, you really have to make sure the engine looks good but other than that, the only thing that you have to worry about is the cockpit. On a helicopter, I had to pay attention to things that I am not use to pay attention to. The cabin, the roof, the miniguns, the ammunition boxes, etc. So I think that helicopters are a little harder. Especially since I am use to Tamiya jets to where the instruction and the parts fit on exactly. BUT....... Helicopters are a lot of fun, if you have the patience for
  21. CABS (I think that what the airbag system is called on the glare shield.) So I decided that if I want to build a modern Kiowa, I would have to install the air bags on the glare shield. First I started my filing off the area on the glare shield where I wanted the air bags to go: Then I added some styrene and glued them where I wanted the air bags to go. Then I filed them to the shape that I was trying to reproduce. It still needs a little work but I don't think I did bad. I also added some very small strips of styrene on the outside of the airbag to complete them . Looking a
  22. I got mine from amazon, but the place that sent me the product is www.vcshobbies.com and they are based in Brooklyn NY. When I ordered the EZ line, it only took them 4 days for me to get it in the mail. Richard
