  1. My two cents, and with respect to others here who may have different views: I would be much more likely to buy a decal sheet largely full of unique artwork that I can't source elsewhere or easily paint. I presumed you'd want to do decals for the 1/48 Lindberg/AMT Snark kit because at present it's available in large numbers. However, for me, it's not that big a deal to paint the model white, mask the white stripes (they're all just straight lines), and paint it with red. If a bunch of large, white shapes is going to eat up all the real estate on a decal sheet, I'd vote to omit them in favor of
  2. Yep. Read the prior posts in this thread. Apparently, Tapatalk doesn't like the missile name that also refers to sports clothing.
  3. Kursad, if you could specify exactly what kits you're looking for, I believe people here would come forward to loan them. Which cruise missile kits make economic sense for you to market decals for? 1. The Lindberg/AMT Snark kit seems to me to be the most logical choice. Next would probably be the Revell/Atlantis Bomarc kit. Revell's Regulus kit hasn't been issued for many years, but the markings are cool and probably wouldn't require a lot of space (especially if you omitted national insignia). People above have offered to loan these kits. 2. I'd hope there are enough
  4. I'll add that accounts of Eddie Rickbacker's 1942 rescue speak of the Kingfisher crew tying survivors Rickenbacker and Bartek to the wings for an overwater taxi. Though these handling lines weren't designed for that purpose, I've always assumed that's what the crew used.
  5. Agreed, and it's nice to see this topic resurrected. Since this thread was last active, Round2 has reissued the Lindberg Snark, and Atlantis has reissued the Revell Bomarc and N_ _ e Hercules. I'd guess there are enough of these kits out there along with the perennial Revell Snark and Regulus to support at least one decal offering. While I'm at it, I'll repeat my wish for Renwal/Revell Mace decals. As others have also mentioned, I'd be happy to loan these and other related unbuilt kits to a decal design effort.
  6. I also ordered two of the AMP kits as soon as they became available and plan to finish mine similarly. The atypical lettering font on those early Huskies really calls for some specialized decals, and I continue to hope Caracal comes to our rescue.
  7. Credit to Dana Bell who today posted the following on Hyperscale: "For more than a decade several of us have been copying USAF original color images at the National Archives. Everything has been copied at very high resolution, and we've given copies of all the scans to the Archives staff to help with their projects. A few weeks ago the first thousand or so were posted on line. The Archives' goal is to make the images available to the public. There's no index yet, but the images are still fun to leaf through: https://catalog.archives.gov/search?limit=100&page=1&q="I
  8. Observation: The original issue of Monogram's 1/72 B-52D had this window. It was removed I believe beginning with the 1973 reissue.
  9. As my AMP HH-43 kits arrived today, if not too late I'd like to put in a plug to include decals for the aircraft involved in William Pitsenbarger's Medal of Honor mission. My internet research suggests it was likely 63-9711 that appears on page 68 of Mutza's H-43 book.
  10. Good things come to those who wait. My AMP new tool HH-43 kit arrived today. It's a nice kit (typical AMP), and I recommend it.
  11. Great news. I've been patiently wiating for the third C-121 sheet for quite some time. Here's hoping for some markings for the 552nd Airborne Early Warning and Control Wing.
  12. Some Caracal decal sets might be able cover multiple models were it not for single set of wing walk stripes on a separate black sheet. The recent B-36 sheet (CD144015) is an example. Have you ever considered printing some extra copies of these black wing walk sheets and offering them separately in the Caracal Models Basics line? I wasn't interested in a Roden C-133 kit until the Thor missile edition arrived by which time the Caracal C-133 sheet was already sold out. Now I'd gladly buy just a wing walk sheet if it were available and try to source other markings elsewhere. (Of cours
  13. No worries; I will probably hold out for the Hypersonic/Gaspatch SR-71 in which case I'm not in a rush for the decal sheet I ordered. Thanks for the excellent products which are well worth any small wait.
  14. With respect, you were oblivious. This has been discussed at length in this and other modeling forums for months. Search "Atlantis Toy and Hobby." https://atlantis-models.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AtlantisToyAndHobby/
  15. Lots of videos and articles are available. Here's one source to get you started. https://paulbudzik.com/tools-techniques/Airbrushing/airbrushing_for_modelers.html
  16. I do too, and on occasion when I see them I dig out my copy of the kit and sell it on eBay for $100.
  17. Apparently 6. For some excellent detail photos, see here: https://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/c-121/c-121_walk1.shtml Unfortunately, I've given up hope that someone will make these in brass to go with the Fisher Models tip tanks.
  18. I don't believe it's the 552nd Wing badge which you can see here: http://www.dean-boys.com/552/552nd_wing_patches.htm I'm not sure what the emblem is, but it appears to be the same as the decal here for a 551st Wing aircraft: http://www.caracalmodels.com/cd72022.html A good source of period information and photos is here: http://www.dean-boys.com/ The release date for this book keeps getting pushed back, but it might eventually be of interest: https://www.amazon.com/College-Eye-Lockheed-Technology-1967-1972/dp/1912866323/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=college+eye&qid=15949
  19. I have the same project waiting on my shelves (along with a couple of hundred others). Thanks for posting. I'll be watching your build with interest.
  20. As an occasional eBay seller, I take the opposite view. I like the Global Shipping Program. Before eBay instituted it, I used to restrict my listings to US buyers only. Why? Because the extra amount (50 cents to a few dollars) I would get from a winning foreign bidder over the second-highest (US) bidder was not enough to justify to me the extra hassle of computing and dickering over foreign postage costs, shipping options, shipping times, filling out customs forms, special trips to post office to work out details, and so forth. The Global Shipping Program put US and foreign bidders on a level
  21. I agree. What I'm seeing in the cutaway item 109 is a camera pointing through the lower right fuselage, not through the upper left fuselage. It's just a coincidence that the label "109" appears in approximately the same location as the mystery hatch.
  22. I'm no paint chemist, but I'd say there's a fair chance you've answered your own question. You added a different chemical to your paint (not what the manufacturer recommends) and now its properties have changed. It could be a coincidence, but I'd guess it's not.
  23. I'm sorry about your sister. Others have already responded, but I just saw your original post and will add that I live just a few miles away from Hill and visit the museum periodically. It's a fine museum, open to the public, easily accessible from I-15, and you can't beat the admission price (free). It's definitely worth a visit if your circumstances permit. Once there, you can decide how long you want to stay.
  24. You can read about my one experience ordering from them several years ago here: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/hyperscale/internethobbies-com-t510468.html If you have any means for cancelling the order and obtaining a refund through your payment method (credit card, PayPal), I suggest you get on it soon before any time limit for doing so runs out. Good luck!
