Da SWO Last time I saw 56-0522 was as a wingless instructional trainer down at Kelly AFB when I attended 2T2 Tech School in the mid 1990s. She was parked out by the 433rd ALW, pretty much gutted and do to low hydraulic fluid it really sucked hand-pumping the tail doors open and closed. Google Shows her in the same place until the mid 2000s. I'm guessing either moved inside or scrapped. How the model going?
  2. I posted these over on WIX but I thought I'd share them here aswell. A great event, I highly recommend it to everyone. Enjoy!! Shay WW1 Fly-in @ the NMUSAF
  3. From: www.usscoralsea.net 1966-67 - This VA-25 A-1 Spad must have diverted to the USS Constellation. As is tradition when another carriers plane lands on your deck, new markings are applied as a reminder of the visit. Would like to see more pictures of this from all around. Even looks like some of the graffitti may have already been sanitized by the time this picture was taken Shay ____________ Semper Fortis
  4. Well done....an awesome job done on one of my all time favorite aircraft. When I first saw the thumbnail on the front page and saw the "Bee" scheme I wondered if this was Pattons aircraft. Again awesome job. I did have one quick caveat though. In your write up you mention: Actually this is almost true. The first shoot down of a MIG by a prop driven aircraft during the Vietnam Conflict was a little over a year earlier to Patton's MIG downing. On 20 Jun 1965 a MiG-17 was shot down by A-1 Skyraiders of the VA-25 from the USS Midway. The downing was a shared victory between LT Clinto
  5. Here's my question. Why did the USAAF use the 3 letter code system in Europe but not in the Pacific??? Shay ____________ Semper Fortis

T.Will Great looking piece. I'm not sure what the correct answer is. But i will mention that alot of aircraft with nose armorment retained their casings to try reduce the shift in center of gravity aft. I can only think on a few that didn't P-38, Me262 for starters. 7. Excellant build very nice indeed. This is one of my all time favorites schemes. Surprisingly this aircraft still exists. 61-069 - transferred from San Bernardino Museum to relocated SAC Museum between Omaha and Lincoln, NB, painted in erroneous shark mouth markings. Most probably because of the non politically correct nature of "Cherry Girl" or simply the folks at the museum don't realize the aircraft's history. Underwent restoration. Now mounted on a pole on the highway between Omaha and Lincoln. Thanks for the THUD Shay ____________ Semper Fortis
