  1. Got tired of waiting for online registration so sent off a snail mail form with an attached paypal receipt. A confirmation response would be nice but I'd be surprised to get one. It's not how I would have preferred doing it and I hope the registration problem is just a blip.....but after the Nats problems at other venues I have the feeling that it might be a snowball starting to roll down hill.........

    1/48 Sea Fury prop

I've been waiting for the WEM Sea fury bits. The prop looks really good. I don't think anyone at Trumpeter "gets" props. They consistently screw those up!

    HELP!

Please don't paint it blue because it wasn't. And make sure it says - Athlene - on the right side of the nose :)
  4. I check the Nats home site regularly but I only see a promise of on-line registration. Nothing's happening yet. You guys waiting for that or are you registering on snail back?.......or maybe I'm missing it?
  5. Great googly moogly It's Mustang done right! I'm lovin' it
  6. No that can't be it. I'm thinking Coastal Command with a squadron based in Scotland and Gibraltar and maybe the Falklands. You gotta keep an eye on the North Sea and the Atlantic for intruders ya know <_<
  7. Xtradecals have 3 sheets of 'what-if' markings. I found a good price on the 1/48 version of the kit today at Indy so it followed me home :)
  8. Sergey at Vector Resin is working on a new set of clear resin canopies for the Monogram P-61. He posted test shots recently and they look pretty good. I have some of Terry's resin cowlings and some other goodies on hold while waiting for the canopies. Coming here soon...... http://www.neomega-resin.com/vector/cockpits.htm
  9. Just something to remember........the clear styrene is much more brittle than the regular kind so handle with care. Good luck and post some pics!
  10. I'll gladly give him $12 for it..... I have one on pre-order at Tower Hobbies for $55. Should be out later this month.
  11. There were tubular rails for seat adjustment that the seats were mounted to. If that is what you're talking about then yes all P-51s had them.
  12. The True Details resin sets are on sale right now at Squadron
  13. Vector engines are pricey but look great...... http://www.neomega-resin.com/vector/american.htm Paragon has some goodies also....... http://www.relishmodels.co.uk/index.php?ta...mp;x=10&y=7 I've just received the Paragon B-17E conversion for my re-issued Revell B-17F.
  14. Snickers the Jack Russell/Poodle loves the snow But her sister Freckles the Jack Russell/Beagle is not thrilled with it!
  15. You are correct! Thanks for the memory jog. I had forgotten about the HC re-pop. I'm a 1/48 guy and my build of the Monogram kit was a loooooooong time ago ;)
  16. Well they are different scales. Monogram has a decent shape, raised panel lines and very little 'pit or gear well detail. For a 1/72 kit from the early '70s it's not too bad. The Hobbycraft is 1/48 and has a reputation as being a nightmare. Inaccurate shape and poor fit is what I have heard. I've heard so many negative comments that I've stayed clear of that one. A new tool in 1/48 would be great!
  17. I don't know the precise answer but I do know that the aircraft probably went through a few tire and wheel changes and that the ground crew would use any available wheel that fits. If you have any pics of aircraft from that squadron in that theater of operations you would most likely be correct to use any wheels and tires that show up in any pictures. It's not unusual to see mismatched sets mounted on the same aircraft. There was a war going on so if it fit it flew....just something to think about.
  18. Very well done! Colors and weathering look just right to me.
  19. I almost had that. When test fitting I found that it was possible to put the cockpit in the wrong position and it would interfere with the wing position. It turned out pretty well in the end.
  20. Yes. As it was explained to me about 5 years ago, the main visual difference is the antenna post at the tip of the vertical stabilizer. The -3 has it faired into the leading edge but the A-4 had a triangular post at the top of the fin. the A-3 the A-4 It's a fairly easy task to sand off the lump on the A-3 kit and add the post to make an A-4
  21. Yeah, I consider the Lone Star stuff as "modelers meat"... you gotta carve on it and sink your teeth into it but it's workable. I got a full load of T-28 stuff also. There have been some really nice T-28s built lately. There were two very nice ones at the Cinci show and an outstanding one at the Nats......
  22. There's color in the 'pit...... Still a little fiddling to do with the fit but I'll be on to the landing gear tomorrow.
  23. It's a 5 day holiday weekend here in Hooterville ( 4 days for Thanksgiving and Dec 1st is Arnold the pig's birthday ) The decks are cleared for a return to the 1/32 F3F-3. I've begun the wrestling match with the Lone Star resin cockpit. There were some pitting issues  They were dealt with using micro-balloons and CA glue. Things are settling into place. I started the painting and am real happy with the instrument panel. More pics tomorrow!
  24. Nicely done Rick. You wrestled that into submission  I was looking at some reviews of the new version of that kit and I might tackle another one. At least the interior structure is no longer a set of p/e monkey bars.
  25. Hmmm.....looking around I see these listed at Roll Models AN48629 Best Seller Black Widows Pt2 (P-61) AeroMaster 1/48 Aircraft Decals Here's a starting point..... http://www.modelingmadness.com/decals/decalsp/p61.htm
