  1. It would be extra sweet if they include a Tilly. I just might off load the dambuster in the closet.
  2. Sergey at Vector is coming out with clear resin canopies for the Widow. The line starts behind me..... :P
  3. That is exactly what is inside the AccMin boxes. Even the art work is the same. They are nice little diversions. I did the Spit V and had fun with it.
  4. A major problem for a lot of guys has been the fit of the clear parts. Vector has announced that they will be soon selling replacement canopies.
  5. The floor of a WW2 era P-51 was never bare wood! All wood floors in service were coated with black anti-skid paint. That's a beautiful restoration but Mustangs did not fly around with polished furniture grade wood floors...........
  6. I did a Pearl Harbor P-40B from the Academy/Hobbycraft kit. There is a fairly major problem with the fuselage on that kit which takes a lot of work to fix. The fix is here......... http://www.hyperscale.com/features/2000/p40brb_1.htm The Revell/Monogram will be a much easier way to go.
  7. I have heard good things about the Badger 150. I have a Badger 175 "Crescendo" which I use for large areas but the 150 is reputed to be better for small detail painting and is said to be an excellent starter brush. I use an Iwata HP-C for my detail work and I'm happy with it. I have used a variety of lacquers, enamels and acrylics and I've found that acrylics work best when thinned with the brand of thinner that is designed for it. Windex works well for cleaning acrylics out of the airbrush. For enamels and lacquers I thin the paint with cheap hardware store lacquer thinner and use more lacqu
  8. That old Revell (Monogram) P-40B still builds up pretty well. This one is my latest........ The newer Revell marked kits are from mould tooling that has been in use since the early '60s so you may have some problems with warped parts. Some folks insist on sanding off the raised detail and re-scribing them but I don't go that far. The etched sets are intended to be attached to cockpit pieces that the Revell kit may not have but by using the etched set instructions you could get a good idea what you could scratch build and add to the kit. My P-40 has a True Details resin 'pit that adds a lo
  9. I got the Tidal Wave and Hellcat sheets at the Nats in Virginia Beach, Very impressive to look at but I haven't used them yet. http://possumwerks.com/catalog.htm
  10. I can help after work. I'll get back to you.
  11. Hello Doug! I've restarted the build and the info is here........ http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=168300 I forgot about the bump effect......I'll use the other post for the remaining work
  12. After being delayed by an Airfix Stirling I'm finally back on my Monogram F3F project. It takes two kits to make a proper 1/32 Monogram F3F-3 as the kit comes with the F2F wings which were used on the Gulfhawk kit. I just couldn't bring myself to cut up my Gulfhawk so I found an old started F3F kit at the U.S. Nats. The original kit box will find a place on my wall when the build is done. The kit wings need to be stretched to the proper span by cutting the wings and adding the parts back together to gain 3 more stringer widths on each side. The resulting wings now have the corr

  19. VN-9 was the only squadron known to have operated SBDs in the gloss sea blue paint scheme......... Thank you to Jennings Heilig for giving me an idea of what to do with an old Monogram SBD that I didn't want to part with.
  20. So what do you do with an old Monogram kit? They're like little puppy dogs that I can't seem to get rid of........ I reached past an Acc Min SBD to pull this out of the closet. I'm going to bed now with the hope that my micro-sol will pull those decals down over all of those rivets
