  1. I know about the wingspan issue and will look for another kit at the Nats to use as a parts donor for the wing stretching. I have a resin 'pit from Mike at Lone Star and I'll be able to finish it off with a set of Yellow Wing decals. I did some preliminary brainstorming and decided I didn't want to sacrifice a Gulfhawk kit just to fix the wings of the USN kit. I expect to return from the Nats with a large dose of enthusiasm I've been wondering about the rigging of a 1/32 USN bird. I suspect it may have been rigged with stainless steel airfoil sectioned strips rather than round cable so I ha

    Ding Hao! Canopy

Great pic! Looks like the vert stab/rudder white stripe was over painted with some fresher OD

Maybe I should leave the Mustang in the garage and drive

    SBD colors

I think this restoration got the colors right for a change........ If you find these colors on your local paint rack you'll do okay.
  9. Zotz and Mike Grant did some nice sheets for the B-17F the last time it was announced for release, then Revell/Monogram changed their mind and stuck those guys with all those sheets I'm not getting excited until I see them on the shelves <_< I see Mike still has some available........ http://www.mikegrantdecals.com/B17F_01.html
  10. I think this GB will be a good reason to actually do the 1/32 F3F that I've been building in my head for the last couple of years
  11. The racing planes of the '30s make interesting subjects. Here's Mr. Mulligan.......
  12. I had the book that is shown in my first pic to use as a reference. It has 5 good pics of the aircraft that I built. Unfortunately it's written in czech and I have no idea what the details are in the text. The book also features line drawings of the 109F through 109K. I was able to see that the early F wings in the ICM kit matched up with the drawings for the F-0. There were no wing guns. The kit wing tips come as separate pieces which made it easy for me to file them down to match the shape of the tips in the drawing.

    Inter-War GB

Is there a banner available yet? Great choice for a GB. I'm hoping it will get me out of my current slump.........

    Inter-War GB

I've gotten so bogged down with home repairs and job worries that I've lost my modeling spark :) Maybe this will get me going again. I'm going up to review the "Closet of Adventure" to see what catches my eye. Perhaps one of the Testors/Hawk '30s racers would do it!
  16. Mike West at Lone Star is working on a resin 'pit for the Jake. My Jake is on hold 'til the release.
  17. I built this before the Hasegawa kit came out and I'm pretty sure they were Cutting Edge decals. I think the fit and sizes were pretty good.....
  18. That is well worth watching Ian. Please post more so this yank can follow your progress. I'm a big fan of RAF heavies. I've started an Airfix Stirling and I just got an RoG Lanc at the IPMS/USA region 4 show.
  19. But to a 10 year old kid hanging it out the window of my dad's Pontiac wagon it was excellent!
  20. This was also an 'H' model It doesn't say so on the box but I remember building one in the early '60s and thinking it didn't look quite the same as the pictures of P-51s that I had seen.
  21. This might help you understand........ http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/korean/p51h.htm
  22. I enjoyed my Promodeler build and it looked pretty good with my PYN Cutting Edge decals on it. Maybe I should scrape the decals off and try to sell them on the 'bay for a hundred bucks................naw.......... :P
  23. Nice choice of subject. I've been wanting to do one of those. The engineers at Curtiss deleted 2 of the wing guns as part of their weight saving program but the wing remained the same. The pilots in the field weren't happy with the reduction in firepower and had their crews put the guns back in. The only picture I've ever seen of a 4 gun P-40N was taken at the factory.
  24. None of the other squadron entries list Hellcats
