  1. Hi folks, I have just been over on to the link for the Moonlander build by TJP ( link in my first post). I was only checking them last night at about 9pm. now all the pics are gone with note. 'please update your account to enable third party hosting' and a link thus : http://support.photobucket.com/hc/en-us/articles/200724444-Plus-Subscription-Pricing-Info Hope this helps some of you guys.... Manfred postings are still complete thank goodness. Vern, your instructions worked a treat and I did post my thanks on my Moonlander post but in case you missed it
  2. Crackerjazz...... scratch-building at its very very finest............and as our bonus, wonderful CAD + a excellent photo resource to view. It been an absolute delight catching up on your posts.... The engine.............an extraordinary piece that is a model in its own right. This going to end up as a definitive example of model making skills I am sure. Am lost for superlatives. Keep chopping the styrene. Cheers johnB ps. its also good to find you indulge in a little model hopping as well...don' forget your LM...
  3. Extraordinary CAD work / search cracker jazz..............what a talent............ Look forward to viewing the printed piece. Cheers johnB
  4. Thanks Vern ....all sortedt : Have made an initial start The first item to replace is the engines mounting truss as I wanted to get the piercings shown in the Bonstell painting and the Collier drawings. ( to reduce weight in getting the materials to orbit ). Went with the Freeman drawings on this one as 8 piercings are shown against the 7 on the painting on the centre sections. A somewhat tedious process but worth it I think. Am making making the truss sides about 15/1000 oversize to accommodate cleanup. Don't think I have punched/drilled so many holes. Must remember to
  5. I have always used Flickr simply because it was the first photo sharing I came across.... so serendipity.... Am have trouble though posting larger pics since ARC rebuilt this website. When I drag and drop I keep coming up with a dialog box saying : 'your are only allowed 102.4 KB'. Can anyone help on this ? Thanks johnB
  6. Well hi Manfred, After such a long absence from the Forum I have made it finally to your topic and your last postings. You Sir are a remarkable gentleman. Not only first class scratch building skills ( was particularly impressed wth the rainbirds and the SSWS system, quite superb ) but the ability to stick to the project itself over such an extended time period.....extraordinary..... Are you never tempted to digress ? It has been a delight Manfred catching up with your on-going project....thank you I am lost for superlatives........... Cheers JohnB
  7. Hi crackerjazz, Well now I am just catching up with your posts.....goodness me.....superb scratch building on all that you are doing and your CAD !! Are there any limits to your talents ? Wonderful, wonderful stuff..... I understand precisely what you mean re your comments about one's stash. I have kits here, unbuilt since the 1960's and I still keep buying occasionally or last month, being bought : + a number just tacked together to get an idea of what they might look like. However it it still the scratch building I enjoy the most or serious kit-bashing. Do not know if yo
  8. Hi Pete, Many thanks for your welcome back....it's good to be back. When I said 'prescient' in my post I did in fact have the Altair landing vehicle in mind beside other elements..... If you can get to read the mags on the AIAA website you will find the similarities between the missions are quite striking in places. The Altair LL would make an interesting scratch-build methinks..... but I am getting ahead of my self as always....... I very much like your scratch-built LDEF and the shuttle mods you are making. Quite superlative work as always.... and those tile decals o
  9. Well, greetings one and all. What a time it has been since I last posted ( Dec 2nd 2015 apparently ) for reasons I will not bore you with other than saying 'me elf'. There continues to be some remarkable building skills displayed on the forum and so have much to catch up on. A birthday press'ey last month was the Pegasus Moonlander. I have had a collection of the 1953 Collier books ( a compilation of space articles in the American Collier Magazine of 1952 ) for many years and 'Man on the Moon' so grabbed my attention as a child, the final thing that turned me into a 'real space
  10. Beautiful work Crackerjazz...... johnB
  11. Hi dekon70, Thanks for your kind comment. Its much appreciated. Working with Milliput in this way is certainly interesting. I have the essentials of the structure of the sphere finished now and it always comes back to the correct position when rocked so it was worth paying attention to the variable wall thickness. Now a question of the hatch rings. Just for interest have popped it alongside the Crows Nest 1/32 Mercury. ( parts just blue tacked together I hasten to add ). We all know how much bigger it was and why the Americans were somewhat dismayed by the apparent lifting power of the
  12. Hi Pete I found Bruno's build of this on the Britmodeller site and there is a link ( in French ) of his Soyuz rocket build here too. Both are superb : He certainly knows his stuff. Could we persuade him to post on the ARC forum as well ? Bought LVM's Vostok launch tower in 2013... a really great kit. yep...agreed :well designed and executed kits. LVM & Tom are to be congratulated + Bruno of course. Cheers John http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234981953-soyuz-launch-pad-in-baikonur-lvm-studio-1144-scale/
  13. Hi Guys, A little more work on the sphere, this time the hatches. All Milliput again. Made a negative mold from the sphere to get the correct curvature. Did try heating some 20thou styrene and pressing it in but could not get it to work so back to old faithful. Things get somewhat dusty but think this is probably the better way to go as again it gives a lot of control and consistency. Fit of the hatches are just below the surface of the sphere to allow for the metal powder finishes inside and out. When these are finished I can the jig up for all the holes in the hatch rims and build the
  14. Really ! That is most interesting Bill....and a well connected bro'. If you could find out.... I had no idea the cupola was a single piece of machining...extraordinary. I envy you your viewing. Thanks for the info' The hatch base rings are now in. Now for the difficult bit : a very shallow conical ring with with 30 holes in it X3 Cheers johnB
  15. Hi Crackerjazz, Beautiful work as always. I'm with Pete...... think of us 'seniors' ......start a 1/48 build thread and end this confusion....it will only take you minute ! Then we will have the benefit of watching three superb LM builds. ( and we sure have not forgotten you amazing LLRV ) Get on with it man........ Brilliant stuff JohnB
