  1. One other model I wanted to share is my Revell 1/48 F-15E Strike Eagle. I built it straight from the box for the most part, but I did go and cut some of the control surfaces to set them in the powered off position you'd usually see them in on the ground. Only other additions were the GBU-12s, GBU-10s and LANTIRN pods from Hasegawa, SHULL24 resin LAU-128 rails and the GBU-31 is from a Revell Super Hornet kit. Kit was painted with Gunze acrylics and the decals are from Afterburner.
  2. I finished this kit over a year ago, but I wanted to post a few photos here. It's Revell's 1/48 F/A-18F Super Hornet. I built it pretty much from the box, but I went and sourced a second drop tank, as well as adding a couple of GBU-12s from the Hasegawa "D" Weapons Set and a couple of resin GBU-38s from Wolfpack Models. Oh, the ATFLIR pod is also from Wolfpack. Decals are from VF-Decals and the paint used was Testors acrylics.
  3. See, I've never figured this out. That is, why guys will limit their sales to their own country (US for example) because of postage. In the end, the buyer should pay for the postage, right? If that's so, why limit your sales on the basis of shipping? If you have a buyer that is willing to pay the shipping as well, and they are in a different country, why not sell to them?
  4. I actually have this idea in my head as well. 164603 was delivered in 92 to VF-124, then it was transferred to VF-2 a couple of years later. Then, it was transferred to VF-213 in 98 and flew as the CO jet (Modex 101) during OEF. After, it was transferred to VF-101, then finally onto VF-31. Now, I have 164603 already built as Modex 101 from VF-213 (TwoBobs "Rampant Lions Over Afghanistan" sheet), I'm currently building 164603 when it was with VF-31, during the final F-14 cruise (using VF-Decals). TwoBobs has another sheet with this jet on it (F-14D Tomcats Last Pac), which I plan to build
  5. Hey all, Well, I finally got the modelling mojo back, for the most part. I recently got back into my 48th F-14D project. Up until now, I had only finished scribing the panel lines on the kit. This was done by using dymo tape and a sewing needle, chucked in a pin vise. This past weekend, I actually got down to painting and some assembly. But, before I get too far ahead, I'm using the Revell F-14A Tomcat kit and throwing in a bunch of aftermarket resin, to convert it to a Delta model Tomcat. I'm using the True Details resin cockpit tubs, but substituting the Steel Beach front and rear ins
  6. I wish someone would do an A-6C...or, at least do the TRIM pod in 48th scale.
  7. Looks like a nice addition for the 32nd scale Hawk. I had heard that the kit seats aren't all that detailed.
  8. Yup, the Wolfpack set includes a resin NACES seat.
  9. I've got a few of the Wolfpack 48th scale sets, and they are great! I even helped out with references for the set.
  10. Sebastian.....do you own a hobby shop in Edmonton?
  11. Looks like a good fix. I've never noticed the angle of the tanks, but I always thought that the gap between the pylon and tanks was too big. David, which part of the sway braces did you sand down, the round parts that actually come into contact with the tank itself, of the square portion that fits into the slots on the pylons?
  12. Thanks Ken. They don't hold a candle to yours, but I'm slowly learning.....lol.
  13. Not a bad article, but the reporter got a couple of facts wrong....the least of which is that the team does head to Comox, but not in the month of December. They head to Comox in late April to early May usually. The 70 years he refers to is the fact that 431 Squadron is 70 years old this year. That goes all the way back to when 431 Sqn was formed back in WW2 under Bomber Command, not just as 431 Air Demonstration Squadron. Plus, the CT-114 Tutor has been in service with the Canadian Forces, as a whole, for 50 years, but, as Tony pointed out, this is the teams 43rd year in existence.
  14. That's good news Chris. Has he been working on this for a while now? I actually emailed him last month, suggesting he do a set for the F-15SG....lol.
  15. The quality of the decals isn't all that bad really. My only concern is how opaque the white is for the speedbird and diamonds on the bottom of the jet. But, as Tony mentioned earlier, you're limited to doing a jet from '74-'86.
  16. Yup, that's exactly what I'm going to do. It was actually suggested to me earlier by PlasticWeapons (aka Ryan).
  17. 1/48 Revell F-14D Tomcat VF-31 CO jet. Tomcat's last cruise. VF Decal sheet, True Details and Steel Beach resin parts.
  18. Gotta say, awesome work on the CF-18 in todays update!
  19. Hey guys, I build a lot of CF-18 Hornets and I mostly use Hasegawa kits. But, I can't always get an A/B version, so I end up using a C/D version and just modify the vertical stabs. But, there are slight differences between A/B and C/D tails. I was thinking of making a mold of a set of Hasegawa A tails and just casting replacements in resin. I'm doing this for myself, so I have no intention of selling extra copies. So, having said that, how would I go about casting the tails? Obviously thinking a two-piece mold would be in order, but just not sure how to mount the tails so I can actually
  20. Managed to capture a few images of some F-15SG Strike Eagles. Aircraft assigned to the 428th FS out of Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.

  22. Hey all...first off, I wanted to apologize for having the old F-16 thread deleted when I left ARC back in 2009. I know a few guys were upset at that decision, so, I'm sorry. Now, with the new thread, I'll contribute some of my Viper shots!! 23. Personally, I'm waiting for Revell's Thudstick II version to be released this year.
  24. I don't think anyone here will disagree with you as a majority here have judged at one point or another. No judging system is going to be perfect though, nor will one model get the same result at two different contests.
