This kit I'd pay $100 Cdn for.  For those hoarders of the ancient and lackluster Hobbycraft Canada kit who are asking stupid money ($100 - $200 US) for them - as if that's how they're going to fund their retirement - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  Take that!

Yup....one day I saw five HC Tutors on eBay.  They will emerge quickly and some guys will try to get as much for them as they can.  At this point, they are worthless.  Oh ...and this new kit will definitely be under $100.

Yeah....if you don't mind a quick how-to on the RBF flags, I'd greatly appreciate it.  I'll send you an email regarding the detent wrench.

    Hi Colin

I'll be putting up an assortment of my kits for trade shortly on Buy and Sell which will include the Tutor. In hopes of finding for either a 1/48 Hobby Boss SU-17  #81758 or a 1/48 Single seat SH Saab Viggen. Cheers Ray

Hi Ray, I have sent you a PM.

Kinetic has all the info for a 1/32 Tutor, it was in the works. When Rick passed away I think Raymond lost interest.

I was hoping he would honor his promise to his friend.

Well, I am certainly determined to make it happen.  I'm just waiting to hear back from the National Aviation Muse, to see of they have loft line drawings in their archives.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!  At this point, I am needing to get a photo of the top of the horizontal stab and I know there are a few other things I need photos of.  If it were't for this damn covid, I could go down to Moose Jaw and ask for an hour or so with an aircraft, in the hangar.  HAHA

  6. Carmen.....I've been off the forum for a while, but came to check out your CF-18 thread......brother, your Hornet's are impressive.  762 looks awesome with that pilot!

I have one question.....what did you use to make the RBF flag on the nose gear?  Also, do you have any photos of the detent wrench used on the wingtip LAU's?  Working on my own Hornet project at the moment.

Hope all is well on your end!

also good luck finding a kit. There are no 1/32nd kit and the old 1/48 Hobbycraft kit is going for north of $100, if  you can even find one. We desperately need a new one on the market (Come on Trumpeter!!!). the 1/72 can be found here and there sometimes for a decent price.

     Sean

God no on Trumpeter doing a Tutor in any scale.  Truth be told, I am currently gathering reference material and will be making a pitch to Kinetic.  If they can do something as eccentric as a Pucara, a Tutor shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.  So hopefully I am successful.  In the meantime, I am still gathering references.

(I want a D but failed to convince GWH to make it. After all, all 1/144 items R&D are done by their Japan agency Pit-Road so they are the final decision maker.)

    Just my 2 cents.

Not sure if you knew already, but Minicraft put out a D in 1/144.

I have another kit in the stash and depending on how I feel after this one it may end up on the trading block.

If you decide to put the other kit on the trading block, I'd definitely take it off your hands.  I have been building custom Snowbird models for current and past team members, so I am always on the lookout for other kits.....just in case.

    Hi guys,

Next big jet build for me will be the Academy FA-18 done as a (current)CF-18. Can you rivet counters and experts let me know what the best aftermarket parts to build an up-to-date CF-18 would be? I'm happy to go big since these damn things take me forever to build (although remarkable progress can be made during a lockdown!) Thanks in advance!

    Ben

Are you talking about the 1/72 kit or the 1/32 kit?  Also, are you looking to build a current jet or something older?

The Demo birds are typically rotated through the higher-time single-seat airframes in RCAF inventory. Considering that the Aussie aircraft will be 1/4 of the operational single seat fleet, it's a given that they will end up as demo birds at some point.

Demo jets are chosen based on fatigue life, not how many hours they have on them.  So they will try to take a jet with the most available fatigue life, as they really get beat up during the season.  Not sure why it's a big deal if one of the Aussie jets gets picked as the demo bird.  So far, they haven't been as reliable as some had hoped.

Having said that; if you're hoping for fully painted demo jets, don't bet on it.  Going to be tails only for the foreseeable future.

Are you saying that there is no current Snowbirds decal sheet? Hmm - that looks like something I might be interested in addressing.

Nope.....no current Snowbird sheets.  If you do a sheet, be prepared to be asked for royalties or a cease and desist letter.  The Snowbird name and logos, etc. are all trademarked.  Having said that, I would certainly welcome a new Snowbird decal sheet!  I've got plenty of references to share and would be happy to help.  I also live two hours away from their home base, and I'm sure I can talk to someone at the squadron, if additional info/photos are needed.
