Yep, I’m getting ready to start my FB now that the Caracal decals are just about to be released. Thanks for the tip on the Belcher bits items. I have two 1/48 Academy FB-111 kits. I plan on doing one in the SIOP scheme and one in the “Dark Vark” scheme- one conventional and one nuclear loadout- and potentially one with the OzMods long span wing and flap set! We’ll see! But for starters it’s a Dark Vark for sure!

Excellent thanks. Yea, I’ve seen pics of a Pease jet letting loose with 24 Mk 82AIRs- those are just hard to come by in resin (I’m not counting the Oz Mods version which look very very crude). I know CMK makes them, but you only get 2 per set. Interestingly- in the pic above, it looks like Mk82 snakeyes were carried and those are available in the Eduard Brassin lineup, 6x set, which is pretty economical. I might go that route. Thanks again. Steve

The only non-nuclear FB-111 loadout pics I can find on the intrawebs show MERs filled with Mk 82AIR. Did the FB ever carry high drag Mk 84s or slick Mk 82s? Anything else besides GP bombs in the non-nuclear mission?

Awesome! Thanks so much for doing this sheet! When will the ordering links go live?

<deleted> (but the gist of it was incredulous)

Absolutely phenomenal! Nothing short of incredible! I don’t have enough superlatives! You have captured the brute, war-weary look of the Foxbat perfectly. Amazing build- thanks for sharing your techniques! Steve

Thanks for the update Kursad. The crew name issue doesn’t bother me at all and I appreciate the disclosure. Looking forward to ordering soon!

Ohhhh yes. That thought get definitely crossed my mind as well.

I always loved that scheme- well done! Steve

This thread is drifting...but I’m grateful for the original post detailing our options for the F-35. I’ve got the MRP and Mission Model paints in hand and I can definitely say the mission models paint looks much too “grainy”. Keep up the good work Richard! Steve

Another build under your belt- alright! I’m curious what tools and paints you are using for your paint work- The reason I ask is because some of the texture issues you are having with your paint leads me to believe that you are applying too much paint in a single spray session, or perhaps you need to thin your paint a little more before spraying it. What brand of clear coat do you use and how do you thin it? Steve- 23 replies

Why? Sprue Brothers isn’t going to provide replacement parts if this is just a byproduct of how the kits are made. No one has made a big issue out of this since the kit came out 13 years ago. Steve -
I’d be interested. I would love to see some marking for 334th and 335th TFS F-105’s!

I’d hold out for the Zoukei Mura F-4E’s. They are coming soon!!!

Your paint work is really incredible! I’m looking forward to seeing more updates on your flanker.

Looks great from my computer screen Darren- you sure know how to get the most out of some of the more “classic” kits! Steve
