  1. Sign me up - I have 6 more Eduard Spits in the stash!
  2. Awesome update, it answers all the questions I had about the intake assembly. Thank you!
  3. Yes, it certainly appears that way! However, your photography captures your models much better than my iPhone pictures do (a "real" camera is on the wish list). I have already started the second Mk XVI kit that was in the Eduard Limited Edition boxing. It is going to be a highback with late wings. I'm going to give Montex Masks a try for the markings and also will use the Brassin 500lb bomb set. After that, I will be working on a Strike Eagle - what about you?
  4. Impressive finish! I really like the oil streaking out of the spinner and stains around the exhausts and guns.
  5. Great looking blackbird! I love those sunset shots!
  6. Eduard's Spitfire Mk XVI in the markings of Air Vice Marshall Sir James Robb. This is the first Eduard Spitfire I have built but it certainly will not be the last - what a superb kit! Steve
  7. Berkut, How are the seams on the inside of the intake and exhaust assemblies? Will much sanding (if any) be needed to make the interior smooth and continuous? Steve
  8. Thanks Joel. Your in-progress thread on your Spitfire was one of the inspirations to get this build started! It is a wonderful kit and I've started on the next one already (Mk XVI Dual boxing)
  9. Inspirational to say the least! What an incredible display piece! What do we have to do to convince you to keep building the rest of the fuselage 😜 Awesome work!!!
  10. Eduard's Spitfire Mk XVI in the markings of Air Vice Marshall Sir James Robb. This is, quite simply, the best model kit I have ever built - perfect engineering and fit, incredible detail, and great markings right out of the box! Kudos to Eduard! Steve
  11. Thanks for posting the links! Great detailed pictures!
  12. Thanks for the detailed explanation and pics - this will be a huge reference when I get around to building the kit!
  13. I agree with Fighting Eighty-Four! A beautiful F-117. Did you cut the ailerons and droop them or is that an option in the kit? Either way, that adds a lot of interest to the model. Well done!

The Tigers deployed to Al Udeid in the fall of 2001 for combat ops over Afghanistan, they weren't actually deployed to Afganistan quite yet. The Bagram deployment came later (2007/2008). Also, the Tigers and then T-Bolts (389th) swapped jets with the 90th (Dice Men up at Elmendorf), not the 390th (C model unit at Mountain Home until 2010). :thumbsup:/>

FYI, this picture is more likely than not over Afghanistan, and that's 241 with the loadout I mentioned above. You can just make out the DSU-33 prox sensor on the GBU-31 on station 5 in the picture.

An accurate load out for a 391st F-15E in OEF would be a single Aim-9 and Aim-120 on the outer rails (8B and 2A, respectively), 3 x GBU-38s on the RCFT, 1 x GBU-31A on Sta 5, and 4 x GBU-12s on the LCFT (Sta 3,6,1 and 4). I'm sure 241 probably made it over there at some point. Here's a picture of that config straight from the AF website. http://www.af.mil/News/Photos.aspx?igphoto=2000647861 For more info check out www.F-15E.info.
  17. Jake, Thank you for listening to the masses! The preview looks great! Steve
  18. That looks awesome! Great job with the splinter camo!

Also, @Checksix, that panel on the nose is not a C model panel, it's an antenna and they were all that color for awhile. Nowadays, that attenna is just gunship gray.
  20. I often wonder the same thing. I sure hope so!
  21. BJ, I think the oil filter has really tied the camo together and given an authentic worn look. Chipping is definitely a learning process, it's easy to go overboard. I know the first time I tried it on a Fw 190D, I really overdid it. I think the key to realistic chipping is a "less is more" approach and lots of randomness to the location of the chips. I am really liking your Spit! Steve
  22. Man, that is looking really sharp! I'm currently building the Mk 16 boxing of Eduard's Spitfire and have been blown away by the engineering and precise fit of everything. These "Spit kits" are awesome. Steve
