Ahhh.....life experience......the gateway to "true wisdon".... I'm sorry for your mishap! Unfortunately you are not the first modeler that has been "led astray" by Tamiya's FLAT base coat. This stuff is actually for making their glass paints flat - as you regreatbly discovered, it is not really for giving models a "FLAT" finish. Hang in there.....!

This is for all those of you who need a little "color" to spice up your F-15's

I'm looking for people's feedback on what they think is: 1. The best injection molded AIM-9 out on the market 2. The best after-market resin AIM-9 now available - if there is such a thing. Thanks! Tim

Scooter Man replied to Scooter Man's topic in Tools 'n' Tips
Excellent responses guys!! Looks like I'm going to be going on a little shopping trip this weekend.......I'll be sure to take along my wife though when I go looking through the nail polish section....GRIN. Thanks again! Tim -
I'm trying to pick up a few tips on some of the different ways you guys (and some gals) go about painting the nobs & switches on the side consoles of cockpits in JET aircraft. I'm looking for some shortcuts. Right now I paint each one individually with a paint brush and dark gray or metallic gray paint. All hints & tips appreciated.....!!!! Tim

Actually I'm just looking to get some good feedback on the following: 1. Which regular injection kit has the best late model Sidewinder missiles 2. what kind of after-market products are available for late model Sidewinders? Thanks for you feedback! Tim

1:48 CH-53E Super Stallion...any NEW news!?!
Scooter Man replied to gremlin6's topic in Helicopter Modeling
Hey "Gremlin" While I'm not sure how much "news value" this will have to you I did see a VERY brief artilcle about the Academy 1/48 CH-53E kit in the most recent issue of FineScale Modeler. In the article there was a picture of the test shot for the fuselage but other than that there wasn't too much other info. I'm guessing that if we hang tight until next month's Toy Fair in Nuremberg we should get some kind of updates - at least I THINK the Toy Fair is next month....I could be off though on the month. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help but I'm patiently waiting right there with you!!! -
I recently saw that Eduard is producing some color "cockpit" photo-etch sets and was wondering if anyone has any experience with these sets - I'm looking more for the sets that go with modern jets (ie. A-4E). If so, what type of tool do you use to remove the pieces from the photo-etch sprue? Thanks!

Hey Franky, Let me just first say, "welcome back" to the hobby! I wish you many hours of "happiness" while hunched over your modeling workspace...GRIN. My own personal recommendation when it comes to paint is go with Tamiya Acrylics for airbrushing and Humbrol for hand painting. The important thing to remember about Tamiya Acrlyic paints is that they are actually a synthetic enamel/acrlyic hybrid. This means that you really shoudn't use regular water when mixing them. I know a lot of guys use some form of rubbing alchohol but personally I've found nothing is better than mixing in the Tam
