  1. Well first of all it's a terribly bad idea to breathe them in freely and we should operate in a well-ventilated area and I'm sure everyone knows that, but then aside from that, I feel that this forum/community can use a sticky that reminds everyone of the health hazard of those paints in the long term. I feel there isn't any in-depth discussion of the health effects and hazards, but I feel it's something we all should/would rather have a clear and proper understanding of what this stuff can do to you. For example, what happens if you breathe it in? Are respirators fume-proof? How long does i
  2. Hi I'm approaching the completion of my project, but now I'm unsure which finish should I use for the F-15E and the bombs. First of all, I'm going to spray 1-2 coat of pure Future before adding the decals. After adding the decals, what finishing coat should I use? And composition? ( I hope to be authentic) Second, I'm also finishing up with painting the bombs(and then will pure-Future it for the decals). For the bombs, I suppose it's flat or satin am I correct? But again because I'm still super new to the hobby (this is my first airbrushed work), I want to hear what you guys have to say for
  3. Hello! Do you guys know what color should I paint for the 1/48 F-15E's BRU-47 cartridges and the clamps? Best if color equivalent in Tamiya or Gunze/Mr Color. Thanks!
  4. Hi y'all. Some of you may remember me posting questions about the F-15E elsewhere, and yes that's because the F-15 is my favourite plane and I'm building it as my signature work. With that said, I'm gonna try to be as accurate, detail-oriented as I can to almost down to the rivet colors. I will throw questions here for things I couldn't find a good answer to after researches, and I hope you guys can help me. 1. For the LANTIRN navigational pod, I went through photos online and my own collection of pictures that I had taken when I went to the airshow. Some showed the pod with a creamy-orange
  5. Honestly thanks y'all for the comments and contributions. Please keep it up or even sticky this, as I'm sure I won't be the last to run into this problem. Keep sharing your methods so other members who needs this help can use it too!
  6. Thanks so much guys! I'm gonna give it a shot now! Wish me luck!
  7. So I'm doing my Revell 1/48 F-15E, and I planned to apply the white inside the MLG bays before moving onto the next step. I had tried 2 attempts already in painting the glossy white with my airbrush and both failed. It seemed the paint would roll off and gather at the corners, and so I would try to make the paint thicker but still worried I'm doing it wrong. For you the pros out there, how do you go about to painting glossy white properly so it works well? Should I apply primer first as well? Anyway, I will like to hear you guys now. Thanks
  8. Thanks. I did some research and asked around previously, but the strange thing about this piece is that sometimes the window is different color in different places and even different times. This actually somewhat prevented me from moving forward to painting it because I wanted to be careful and see if there's actually a color or form it represents.
  9. A new question then. For the LANTIRN navigation pod, what will be the right color for the glass/lens piece?
  10. wow thanks everyone for the help! i'm doing a 1/48 and i'm thinking of using a 317 at the moment. I hope that's still acceptable.
  11. Oh I'm trying to be as detailed as I can for anything that I can see, even down to colors of individual rivets...if I can see them
  12. Thanks guys! Now the super hard question that requires the expertise of you guys: What color gray would you recommmend? Let's say we're using Mr Hobby colors. Which grey would you think is appropriate?
  13. I'm surprised the CFT edges/seals are actually just lighter gray, although they do appear as black or of darker color. If I use the lighter grey, will the edge still appear as black like it does in real life? Thanks for the help
  14. Hi guys, I wanna ask about the exact color of the CFT edges and the gun port. Are those flat black or steel color? And for the vents on the plane, I suppose they are "steel" except the middle one, correct?
  15. Hello people. I have never used Eduard pieces before so this is my first time. I bought myself a set of Eduard set and in it they included photo-etched pieces to replace the cockpit. Of course the requirements for there would be to remove the surface of the cockpit by grinding it down with a file. However because this is my first experience with Eduard, I don't know how to use it, and I worry that it will be too tricky for me. On the other hand, I see it as no pain no gain and as learning experience, and that it's about going out of your comfort zone to make something nice. Therefore despite
  16. What happened was essentially a huge portion of the nose and the front part of the fuselage had the primer, paint, thinner mixed into a terrible mess, leaving the plane with scars, cracks, ridges, valleys, bumps on the paint coat. Because of this major mess-up on my Revell F-15E, I was so distraught I left it be for a while. Recently however, I discovered something called the liquid mask. Before i rush in to buy this stuff, I want to ask if anyone has any experience with using liquid masks. How was it? Now my question is, if I apply liquid mask onto the safe zones (70% of the plane), will the
  17. I was literally on my last bits before moving onto sealing everything down with floor polish(I waited till the end to attach the pylons, landing gears, weapon attachment points, engine exhaust), then shoot went south big time. I wanted to fix one some overspray, but the paint came out semi-dry, semi-leathery. To fix that, I tried to spray an extra coat to cover over that failed coat, which failed and led to panel lines disappear. As the paint coats are getting too thick, I resorted to masking off the innocent areas and then attempted to wash everything off. The thinner ran underneath the mas
  18. So I have a bunch of empty containers and I don't know what to do with them. I know many people keep them for future spare use, but I have like 7-10 sitting around. How many do you keep? Also, how do u keep your collection or workspace organized with all the equipment and supplies? Is there somewhere I can buy a rack to store or keep paint organized?
  19. This was before :)/> This is after: :(/> All because of one airbrushing white... Thanks to your suggestion, it gave me a new idea. Currently I masked off the undamaged areas (wings)and used thinner to wipe off ground zero. Shortly later I'm going to re-prime the area, repaint it, and HOPE this works. Why I want to get it done today is because of couple reasons: 1. you can see how far I've come already. I was LITERALLY JUST ONE COLOR TO SPRAY AWAY FROM COMPLETION, then this happened. 2. The project had been around for almost 4 months already 3. 2 fails/restart before this:
  20. So basically I'm almost done, then I spilled thinner the last minute and now half the bottom of my plane is smudged I want to get the plane done by tomorrow night so in unwilling to restart the whole thing. Currently I'm mad polishing it with sandpaper from 600 grid and working my way upwards. Any advice on how I can salvage my plane?
  21. Thanks balls! Nice name btw I need to tint the piece golden like the falcon canopy or raptor canopy.
  22. How long does it take for the floor polish to cure on the canopy? I'm trying to do my mudhen canopy for revell and been running into issues with the floor polish taking too long to cure. i'd also hope for advice on painting the interior and exterior frames of those canopy piece since the second question is tinting a transparent piece. my sniper targeting pod is done, but the transparent piece is still not the same color as the targeting pod should be. any help there? thanks!
  23. thats a lot of cluster bombs... speaking of which, there are talks a little while back about them gonna open up the outer set of pylons for the future f-15e and the AESA. can you guys imagine it? by then the mudhen is like the most versatile fighter it can be
