  1. USAFsparkchaser- Was jm190 able to get you the decals you needed? If not, let me know as I have an original sheet from the 1983 issue of the kit which you can have. I was planning to do my F-106 in 191FIS Michigan ANG markings, so the 87th FIS markings are not going to be used. Stewart
  2. Finally finished.... only 3 weeks late. Still, I am rather pleased with the results!
  3. Anyone have a set of decals from the US Coast Guard version of the Hasegawa 1/72 P5M Marlin that they are not using? I would be willing to pay for a set... I started building this particular aircraft before Hasegawa issued the USCG variant and had kit bashed a whole bunch of USCG related decals to do it. Unfortunately, the box and its contents went underwater during 2017's Hurricane Harvey and the decals were destroyed. Getting back to work on this model and would still like to do her as a P5M-2G. Thanks! Stewart
  4. Well, it looks like three builds in the group build was a little beyond my reach, as life interfered as it has a way of doing. Got this one to final painting over the weekend and am pleased with the results. Both aircraft have their upper and lower paint schemes, but I have to go back and paint the dappling on the sides. Then of course, gloss coats, decals, flat coats and final assembly, etc. Hopefully, now that I've gotten them this far, I should be able to finish up within the next couple weeks. It's been an enjoyable group build and it pushed me to take on a couple models
  5. Congratulations on a phenomenal build! You can be really proud of that one!
  6. Beautiful build! The T-33 is such a sweet aircraft.. BTW, just to correct the description, the markings are for an aircraft of the 111th Fighter Squadron of the 147th Fighter Wing of the Texas Air National Guard. They are based at Ellington Field, just south of Houston, and like many ANG fighter units of the 1960s, 70s and 80s, they had T-33s attached to the unit as squadron utility aircraft performing familiarization flights, acting as an aggressor or as a fast transport for normally desk-bound officers who still needed to get in some flight time. Today the 111th is flying the MQ-9 Reaper
  7. After a bit of dusting and cleaning, I went back to apply the RLM 76 Lichtblau to the undersides and sides of the two aircraft. Used some very old Humbrol, but it was still good even after 20+ years in the can. I was pleased with the results. Hopefully, this week I can start on the upper side colors...
  8. It's been quite a while since I've had a chance to work on my third entry to the group build, but this weekend, I got back at it. Just before I stopped working on it in April in order to finish other models for the big Model Mania contest in Houston, I got the two aircraft masked, primed and painted on the pre-shading for the panel lines.
  9. Incredible job! Can't wait to see the finished product!
  10. Nice work! It will be interesting to see what you can do to turn this rough kit into a presentable model!
  11. Haven't done a lot of work on the Fuhrungsmachine since I was concentrating on finishing my Fw-190D-11. However, I did start doing a little work this weekend. Put the canopy on the Ju-88 and masked it with Bare Metal foil. With a canopy that has so many panels, it can be a bit tedious... After masking I shot some RLM 66 Schwarzgrau to replicate the interior color of the canopy frames. Had enough extra paint, I sprayed it as a primer over my seams. They looked pretty good! Only a tiny bit of clean up to do on them and I'll be ready to prime and paint the model after minimal rescribing of
  12. ProModeler 1/48 Focke Wulf Fw-190D-11. Complete (with the exception of some exhaust stains which will be added shortly).
  13. Well, I am calling this one done. I added in the seatbelts, antennas, gun barrels and pitot tube and added some paint chips around the worked on areas. The seatbelts came from a vendor on eBay who sells printed belts on paper. I cut them out very carefully and close to the printed edges, then dip them in a mix of white glue and water. They are fragile, but once placed on the model, as they dry the hold their shape and stay stuck pretty well. If I want to remove them, all I have to do is to get them wet. Antenna wire is clear Stren fishing line. I will be doing some exhaust st
  14. Getting closer. After the decals were all on, I gave the model one more gloss coat then did some panel line washes using Tamiya black wash. After that, a coating of Testors Dull-coat before removing the Bare-Metal foil masks on the canopy and windscreen. Got the wheels and tires on and was very careful to get the alignment right because there are so many ways you can mess that up on an Fw-190... Still have to do some paint touch up, add the pitot tube, antennas, gun barrels, gear position indicators and the seat belts. After that, a touch of weathering and it shoul
  15. Els- It actually wasn't that bad... The kit instructions had great diagrams showing the stripes in relation to the panel lines, so it was a good guide. I did use a small ruler as well to get the spacing correct. I started with the two belly stripes and worked outward, waiting for one set of stripes to set up before moving to the next stripe. I used Solvaset on them, so they snuggled into place pretty quickly. I only goofed up one line and got it a little cockeyed and had to remove it. Luckily, there were a set of stripes on the decal sheet for which there was no corresponding n
  16. Oh, don't you know it. I feel luck that I get a few hours on the weekends. Looking forward to seeing this one done, as I saw the Turf & Sport Special at Dover a couple of years ago and it's a good looking bird!
  17. Thanks! One of the appeals of this model was how neat the super-stretched Ju-88 looked.
  18. Still a bit of work to go. The Fw-190 is just sitting in place for effect. I have dipped the canopies in Future acrylic floor wax for nice sharp clear canopy glass and will be attaching them next. The gunner's seat in the Ju-88 sits a little high and I had to sand a little off the top of the headrest to ensure the canopy will fit. Once all the sanding is done on both aircraft, they'll get primer and the fun of looking for flaws will begin!
  19. In between working on the decals for my FW-190D-11, I did some work on the Ju-88H-4 Fuhrungsmachine. Got a lot of the kit together and did work with putty and sanding. The parts of the fuselage had the most work to be done, as the three sections don't all seem to have the same cross-section and there is a little bit of sculpting where they join. There are also a bunch of sink marks in the surface above the locator pins and sockets as you can see from the pictures. The wing, horizontal stabilizer and vertical stabilizer fit are incredible and need no putty! I was very impressed by the fit
  20. I also added the landing gear, exhausts, belly tank and many of the other fiddly-bits. Next, the bird will get one more coating of Future floor wax as a gloss, then some washes and a flat coat. Another week's worth of work and she should be done.
  21. Another weekend's work brings me closer to finished. Got all the white stripes on the underside which was a bit of a challenge. While the decals were of very good quality and very opaque, they are a bit thick. I hit them with Solvaset to make them suck down onto the surface and it still wasn't quite what I expected. The other thing about the decals is that they seemed to be for a different Fw-190D kit... some of the stripes were a little long, others were short. When it was all said and done, there was one set of decal stripes (#69) which had no place on the model according to the instruc
  22. Got a bit more done on the Ju-88H Fuhrungsmachine. Assembled the main fuselage on the Ju-88 with its interesting mix of AMT parts and the new parts that are supplied in the kit. The AMT parts are all molded in light gray and are the usual soft AMT plastic, while the AMTech parts particular to that variant are in a darker, much harder plastic, closer to what you would find in a Hasegawa kit. Unfortunately, there are a lot of sink marks in the fuselage, where the thickness of the interior structure causes the plastic to sink in a bit. So... I've been busy with the Tamiya put
  23. Laid down a heavy gloss coat on the model using Future sprayed through the airbrush and after a couple days of drying I've started to add the decals. Kit decals are very good and appear to be the work of Cartograph. It says they are made in Italy although the sheet doesn't show the Cartograph name. Still the quality shines through. Just to make sure everything is settling in nicely and conforming to the curves, I used Solvaset on the undersides. Upper side decals are over simple enough curves that I used Micro-Set and Micro-Sol. So far, so good.
