Just to get a little rest from scribing and riveting, I start to play with terribly wrong shape nose. First,remove plastic (you can see original on the left side,marked red) Now you can see deliberately made gap,to make room for styrene. Hi, Can you please tell me something... You mention that you mix Tamiya X-22 with lacquer thinner. Why did you use lacquer and not ordinary X-20A acrylic thinner? Thank you in advance.

Please tell me... when you did rescribing and riveting,did you apply Tamiya Extra thin over it ? (to smooth edges) If so, did it affect the rivets in any negative way (make it smaller,etc.) ? As I do the same on my SR-71, I still didn't decide to apply it or not.

Start to work on the underside,added few details,riveting,it's just the beggining.

Progress...

First picture - you can see how pure fit this kit have (marked with blue circle) , piece that needs to be replaced with PE (yellow circle) , and 2 pieces that don't exist on real airplane,so needs to be removed (red circle). Second picture - after Third picture - starting to play with riveting. Oh boy,this will be a pain of a job. I will do it all one by one,with help of that metal piece you can see on the picture above. I think it will look ok in the end,but my mind could go south in the process :) Tried with riveting tools,but I didn't like it. Maybe for some other areas...

First thing,rescribing. Lots of wrong panels on the kit,so I start to correct this. All the panels are raised,so I can use some of it as templet to scrabing. First stage,general lines. Of course,I will make the lines better,without mistakes in second stage. Goal is to make 'new tooled look' to it :)/> , with all the rivets,etc. Well that's the plan anyway :)/>

If you ask me,this is the most badass airplane ever built. It's time to build this beauty. Unfortunatly,this is a dog of a kit,so I will have my hands full trying to correct lots of mistakes,and make it accurate as I can. In short, full rescribe,custom exhaust,detailing wheel well, correcting the (notoriously wrong) nose,etc. Not a lot of parts,but work needed to be done,enormous :) Aftermarket parts,only Rocketeer decals and Eduard set.

Ok,sneak peak on ''finnished'' model. Well,to be honest,it's not finnished if you ask me. I will do drastic measure and try to redo this pain in the a.. green hue. It's my mistake,and I hope someone will learn from my mistake,and that is, do not make shades with Nato black. I constantly mix it with white,to achieve lighter shades all over the model,and in one hand it worked,but in other hand,heli is no longer Blackhawk,but Greenhawk. Rotors... Did a little job on it, still need to correct some painting mistakes,but I think it will be ok. Also,need to redo weathering on blades.

Working on rotors,small details ,more to go: And f..k up with masking tape... I don't know. I paint it without primer,flat coated with Vallejo Matt Varnish. After removing masking tape,disaster. No way I will spray it all over again, probably just paintbruhing,and add weathering. Hope it will end ok. Just wondering,to blame Matt Varnish for beeing to fragile,or to blame myself for not priming...

Yeah,I get it. But, looking at reference photos, I usually see just moderate wear on blades and metallic stripe on part of the edge. Image:

Thank you Tim. I already weathered the blades as you can see on the pictures,just need to add metallic stripes.(and OD Green bars) What you exactly mean by saying that I need to wear leading edges? Looking at the ref images,I think I already push the wear,because usually blades are in much more better shape.

Little work on rotors and overall weathering... I really need to start taking images at a day time,because this artificial light gives strong green tint.
