  1. Very, very nice John. Well done indeed!
  2. That looks great, egt95. I'm really enjoying watching your build. I did the same with my et, and put individual strips on, and I was very satisfied with the result. And your windows look great; I hope mine come out half as good. Looking forward to what's next.
  3. Hi Manfred, Thanks very much. The kit was being sold second hand and I picked it up for a bargain. The photo with me and the box was done as a bit of humour, but yes, I was very happy to get the kit. I don't model very often, and I am certainly not in the same league as some of the fine modellers I have seen on these forums, but even so, I hope to do a good job with this kit. I have been quite inspired by some of the amazing work I have seen here, not the least of which is your amazing STS-6 build and what you have been doing with the MLP. So, even though I won't be up to the standards o
  4. Is this of some help? http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l192/johngauvreau/39A_195_cover_zps4f4e71aa.jpg
  5. Oh, that's so cute; he thinks he's going to have free time once his child is born. :D In all seriousness, I am looking forward to seeing how your build progresses. Good luck, and congratulations!
  6. Hello and welcome. It's great to see someone else starting an STS-1 build. I posted for the first time a month ago, asking about some info regarding my STS-1 build (see 'STS-1 external tank question' started Feb.6). I have found only a few nice pictures to use as a reference taken when the stack was being rolled out to the pad and a couple more of it sitting out there, but of course there is much more information and references available for later missions, simply because nobody was posting anything to the internet back in 1981 because it didn't exist yet. Even so, I'm having a lot of fu
  7. Really nice job with this kit. I too love the reflection in the visor. Well done!
  8. Thanks, Mike, that's great advice, and well worth heeding coming from somebody with your skills! I'll let you all know how it works out!
  9. Thanks guys! I appreciate the help and the warm welcome. Jay, I will definitely heed your advice; it makes good sense. Being the old Revell 9411 kit, it's 1/144 scale so what you say about keeping the colours appropriate for the scale sounds like good advice, and I will definitely test first, to make sure I don't overdo it. Pete, I sure will post some pics as I progress. Any and all advice regarding an STS-1 build is more than welcome from everyone. Thanks again!
  10. Hi everyone, I'm new here and have enjoyed going through the many fascinating threads and looking at the wonderful images. I now appeal to you skills and knowledge base to help me. I just picked up a very old Revell Launch Tower and Space Shuttle #4911. It is open but unbuilt, and complete (even though the box is rather shabby). It was just my lucky day, as someone in my neighbourhood was getting rid of it since her father had passed away and he never built it. I gave her the asked for $20 and the promise that it was going to a good home. I know that a new release is scheduled to come ou
