I agree with everything you say about the Middle East, but the American empire is also what has made the dollar the reserve currency of the world and enabled globalization and free trade to a degree that has benefited most people on the planet. That’s not to say we need to be continually adventuring in the Middle East militarily, but it dies mean we need to maintain our status as the dominant power globally

Because seems like the super hornet is not that great? In fact as a replacement for the A-6, F-14 and legacy Hornet, it might be considered that a carrier air wing in the early 90s was more capable.

Was the failed A-12 project a factor? It frustrating to think the US spends as much as we do on defense and would put the Navy in a position where it was uncompetitive vs a likely future adversary.

Why wasn’t the f-14 replaced with a comparable carrier defense interceptor?

Why Does squadron order such limited numbers of new kits? It seems like almost every new release is listed as in stock soon within a few days of arrival and then is never restocked again. What gives?
