  1. Authentic Models. I forgot about that one. I did price one. Little too much for my blood. Nicely done
  2. Cool is that a Shapeways (Michael Keys)
  3. Models built but have since discovered the deficiencies. Real space batted F1 This is household cooking foil. I'm using everyday craft glue to stick it on in small pieces. I can't be bothered painting these as there's just too many bubbles to fill. I tried gilding foil but too hard to work with. So settled on this. 4. Nice build. Ha ha Don Knotts. I remember that movie
  5. Here's Apollo 9 test flight https://www.google.com.au/search?q=LEM+test+flight+apollo&rlz=1C1CHMO_enAU507AU507&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=DmyIU8DCFIOpkwWwgIGwCg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1506&bih=836#q=LEM+test+flight+apollo&tbm=isch&tbs=isz:l&facrc=_&imgdii=ft9MQKoe43J68M%3A%3B84cLeaie8uOjgM%3Bft9MQKoe43J68M%3A&imgrc=ft9MQKoe43J68M%253A%3BXwKnioMy5CWenM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.honeysucklecreek.net%252Fimages%252Fimages_Apollo_9%252FAS09-21-3183.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.honeysucklecreek.net%252Fmsfn_missions%252FApollo_9_mission%
  6. Were they on early LEM test flights? I have a feeling they were added after testst?
  7. Yeah I'll give them some paint over the weekend. May aslo be missing some red in places.
  8. I will likely paint the thruster ports. I thought about drilling them out? Lines on the body look like paint and nothing more? Never done a wash. I like the New look :) Thanks guys.
  9. Thanks Pete The foil is just plastic gift wrapping :) Antenna is brass tubing. The decals are stock kit. I used microsol/microset to make sure they blended well. Then a few coats of clear satin. What other detail would you suggest? Not sure I want to go digging now. I'm pretty happy with my first real attempt at detailing. Although a camera or 2 maybe? That should be easy enough.

  11. My 1/72 has taken a back seat until I decidewhat to do with my SSME. Glenn said he'd replace them :) After completing it recently I stumbled across this site so it's now in parts again waiting on parts. I have my beany cap and a set of cruddy SSMES. Also keen to do a full tile set. In fact that kept me awake last night thinking how to go about it.
  12. Thanks Guys I have searched and searched and never found those particular NASA pages. Thanks for the links.
  13. You can get Clear styrene or even shirt box lids. Resin wont be clear enough surely? Why not glass like Gil?
  14. SWeet. How do you find these? I've been search weeks and never seen anything like these. Thanks
  15. Gee we have a way of making a $50 model (for instance) into a $1000 model
  16. Thanks mate :) Trying to do the best I can. First time adding finer detail to a model. Airbrushing makes a world of difference to models and a pair of 10x glasses :) I may have to buy another Gemini to go further. Pete's Gemini is amazing. We live and learn
  17. Thanks for that Pete. I've worked around engineers a lot. I guess somethings rubbed off on me :) Been searching net for decent construction shots of Gemin. Not much out there in public. Thais is a great shot.
  18. Adding the foil to the equipment bay Gemini equipment bay by Peter Ede, on Flickr Gemini equipment bay by Peter Ede, on Flickr Do I need a spar from the thruster to the centre? Yes I know I forgot to remove Revell from the bottom. May have to build another Gemini soon. Good cheap model to get my detail fix on
  19. Does anyone know of a model for the new Australian AWD. I'm working on the project and a model would look pretty cool on my desk. Preferably 1/350?
  20. Michael Keys has some cool bits to play with. I thought and RCS Quad would be cool. Apollo RCS Thruster Quad by Peter Ede, on Flickr Apollo RCS Thruster Quad by Peter Ede, on Flickr
  21. I have built this model also. Before I thought about authenticity much. I am now going back and adding minor bits'n'pieces. Batted engines from Realspace to start with and a better decal set when I find one. Maybe I'll redo the LM later with a different model? I've also bought a shapeways LES tower. More detail than original
  22. There in lay my conundrum. I have a hard time justifying a detail set that costs more than the model. But I do understand the time and effort that goes into creating all the intricacies. A full tile set would look awesome. What about the thermal blankets. What did or will you use for that? I was thinking white medical tape? Or maybe just cut up linen and glue on?
  23. Wow Pete. Talk about inspirational. This is fantastic and made all the more so at the scale you're working. Hmmm what to do for my next model. Hubble, Lunar module? Maybe attempt scratch build CM
  24. Update? How's this model coming? I'm keen to give scratch building a CMD/CSM model.
