  1. As topic I'm looking for https://www.eduard.com/Eduard/MiG-21MF-in-Czechoslovak-service-1-48.html or the decal parts included for "8208" in that kit.
  2. I use Vallejo Model Air White, straight from the bottle as it's pre thinned for airbrush and apply two, sometimes three thin coats. It dries almost instantly when hitting the surface so the coats are done almost immediately and it won't run anywhere. I've usually primed with Mr Surfacer 1000 or 1200 before, but any light grey would do.
  3. It's supposed to be "Soviet" The kit is so old that it's made with no real references available. The Zvezda is the Dragon molds, so not the same and probably better. Personally I'd go with Trumpeter or the new Meng, if I'd be building the ESCI/ERTL/AMT one I'd just not care what it is trying to be and build it generic soviet, just not worth the headache to go accurate with it. Here's a thread that mentions the kits, the thread predates the Trumpeter and Meng offerings http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/3/t/139343.aspx and here's a buildup! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/
  4. Oh bad wording on me I just noticed, with the "all" part I meant the other makes he mentioned (all the same kit). Zvezda is apparently the Dragon kit even though Scalemates doesn't say so, and the same for the Italeri offering.
  5. All but the Tamiya T-72 was designed before the Soviet Union collapsed and are really full of errors. Personally I'd wait for the Meng T-72 or grab the Tamiya one which is apparently accurate for a specific East German version. http://www.meng-model.com/new.php?id=580 http://armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=167913&page=1
  6. I'd like to see some real analytics instead of people commenting about user visits and retention without a real clue on the matter, I'd bet it wouldn't be pretty. https://gyazo.com/5b661444e073415a5389fad2620d1fda https://www.similarweb.com/website/arcforums.com
  7. Well you dumped that pesky Avast that is doing its job and bought McAfee, which is not showing you the warnings that it should? Great buy! :monkeydance:/>
  8. Avast is now actively blocking the site citing HTML:Script-inf and URL:Mal2 coming to a total of 51 blocks.
  9. This is Google's Safe Browsing initiative, it's used by their own Chrome browser as well as Firefox. There's no question about if it is, they literally tell you when using their transparency report site. It's the www.arcforums.com domain, the main site is not affected.
  10. It's Googles Safe Browsing that's flagging it https://www.google.com/transparencyreport/safebrowsing/diagnostic/#url=http://www.arcforums.com I bet it's the malware redirect that never got fixed
  11. You need to look up reviews on the specific kits to be sure though. I'm building the new Takom T-55 AMV at the moment and had to do surgery to pose the suspension.
  12. The bad rap is usually on the accuracy part, their kits that I've come across are all an excellent fit and build. I've hence refrained from recommending several nice kits since they're bogged down with accuracy issues. If only they'd get their research right like they seem to do more often than not with their armor kits... One comment on the intruder for the record, the cockpit is wrong in that the seats are not offset properly. They are not GRU-5 seats and the angles of the instrument panels are wrong as well, with the prominent cockpit area of the 1/32nd that's a large annoyance for me. I'v
  13. Saw they're now showing prices as Euro and was worried they'd give me the "Europeans have greater buying power" price hike that I'm used to as soon as it's €. But it actually comes out 1 dollar cheaper now, compared to my old receipt from June 9 before the shop overhaul... so that's neat!
  14. I'll cast another vote for the 262s, I've built the Messerschmitt Me 262B-1a/U1 - Trumpeter 02237, and it was no problem at all.
  15. It's not a BTR-60, but a BTR-50 of some kind
  16. I buy from www.armoryhobbyshop.com now and again. A bit clunky checkout and payment but arrives safe and sound and on time. I've also shopped from www.models-hobby.com and www.karaya.pl without issue.
  17. Well when I was little I bought kits all the time, sticking to mostly 1/72 fighters which I could afford with my allowance. If I wanted something larger I'd have to save, I specifically remember buying an He 111 in 1/72nd that I'd saved a lot for, if it was Revell or Airfix I don't remember. But anyhow, I don't think Airfix is targeting young modellers with the C-47 or the mentioned Shackleton. When I was little that would've just been another boring airliner when I could be building Spitfires and Stukas for about 5-6USD a pop while watching the BoB movie. This was some 20 years ago. Today I b
  18. Kits have become more advanced and there's inflation, but still I'd put a lot of stock into that "Australia Tax". Stuff is always a fair bit higher before it even comes to the shipping from Australia yet I've had to bite the bullet sometimes if it's the only vendor with something that I want in stock. I work in the video game industry and I've noticed that Australia in general also has ridiculous prices on video games, like, double what you pay elsewhere. That's usually attributed to sparse population over large areas, and isolation compared to the other continents... but those games are digit
  19. The removal of the confederate flag from General Lee kits pisses me off to be honest, while an ISIS modelling subject barely register.
  20. Sweden here, no even remotely local hobby shop in my area. I buy it all online, though plenty of that can be supplies from domestic hobby stores that do both online and physical retail mostly because of shipping time more than anything else.
  21. I usually put a bit of styrene sheet in the gap if it's larger. Depending on the size of seam I use from smaller to larger seam: MrSurfacer 500, Zap-A-Gap Slo-Zap (thick and slow CA glue) and for the largest gaps of several mm I go with Deluxe Materials Perfect Plastic Putty, a bit arrogantly named but not far off the mark! For larger body work like several cm and larger I go with automotive filler of various brands depending on what I get my hands on though that's usually still over styrene sheeting and such.
