  1. Pretty reasonable price, and a damn nice looking ride. *yawn*
  2. Just got an email from Neomega that they're waiting on restock of the item I ordered, and they'll get it out as soon as possible. Thanks for the reassuring messages, guys. I've heard good things about their sets, so I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one
  3. Just to update, my order was placed 2/2 and I emailed sales@neomega (replied to their order confirmation email) on Tues (3/28), requesting an update; so far I haven't heard anything back.
  4. There's the Hasegawa hh-60d and the armycast mh/hh-60g conversion. I picked up those and an Eduard photo etch set a while ago. The armycast parts look really great. It would be pricey for all the bits, but it should make for a decent representation. I found a set of 1/72 50 Cal. side-mounted guns from someplace online, but haven't ordered them yet. That's the only other addition I'll likely use when I get around to building my pavehawk.
  5. I cut a needle with some wire cutters and s stuck it in a spare xacto blade holder, and it works pretty well, maybe give that a try?
  6. For those who haven't seen; thoughts are with those injured. http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/18/politics/several-sailors-injured-on-uss-eisenhower/index.html
  7. I'll try to make it; looks like they don't have a list of static displays yet? (Haven't had a chance to dig around) What's the name, and do you know where you'll be set up? I never come across the model displays at airshows for some reason.
  8. Thanks for the input, Zac! I've already shot this one with OD and started detail painting (which I've come to realize is my absolute least favorite part of the whole process besides masking). Pics online show so many different shades, so it shouldn't be too far off as is, but a big thanks for the suggestion. The idea for the stowed gun came from the blueprint below (which I had posted in another thread as well), and with a healthy dose of creative license since I couldn't find any other images of the inside or door of the fairing: Anyway, a new job with a nightmare commute is consuming all
  9. Sounds like an AWESOME whif idea, I'm going to make a note of that one!
  10. From Vader to the Tin Man: sprayed Vallejo Aluminum. I wanted to experiment with a metallic color under the white:
  11. Sprayed some preshading with Tamiya NATO Black, Khaki Drab, and Olive Drab: Also, a shot of the vent just behind the main rotor; I had to add some strips of plastic and mesh to cover the pretty unsightly hole on the kit:
  12. Great project, JASDF Phantoms have such great paint schemes. Looking forward to more pics.
  13. Try Chrome or Firefox. I wouldn't put it past IE to be(at least part of) the issue.
  14. Tamiya Flat Black base on the X-29; lookin' very Vader. More to come soon:
  15. Base coat on the Tigershark. Sprayed with Tamiya Dark Grey:
  16. Moving at a glacial pace with my test bird builds, but base coats are on. The Comanche is sprayed with Tamiya Medium Grey:
  17. I do have some, so I'll give it a try. My first test of just the primer peeled up with tape.
  18. Just in case anyone's interested, here are the results of my Acryl vs Model Air shoot-out: (Note: I like to source my paint locally, and these are the acrylics available at my LHS, aside from Tamiya, which doesn't have FS colo... yada yada...someday maybe I can finally try this Gunze everyone's going on about.) I laid down a coat of Tamiya XF-24 (Dark Grey), then Vallejo and MM Light Grey, all with at least 24 hours of drying time between coats, Vallejo was thinned with 91% ISO and distilled water, with a drop of Vallejo Flow Improver; MM was thinned with Testors Acrylic Thinner and a drop o
  19. Anyone had dealings with Neomega recently? I ordered a resin cockpit off their website (using PayPal) a few weeks ago, and haven't seen it yet. Not in a rush, just curious. Thanks!
  20. I think that's the thing that bugs me most about this argument: no single technique is magical. There are no silver bullets Mentioned this in the other thread on this topic, but this is a criticism of the application of the technique, and shouldn't be used to trash the technique itself.
  21. I'll try to post some pics. I've already prepped and sprayed my scrap piece with XF-24 Dark Grey, and picked up some Vallejo Light Grey today. I'll let it cure at least 24 hrs between coats, then test the final coats with different masking tapes and poster putty. Isn't science fun, kids?
  22. Awesome, thanks. I have either the F-117, a Revell Tornado, or a few Hornets and F-16s to choose from for this. Hopefully the schedule fits.
  23. Thanks, I think I'll pick up a bottle of regular Vallejo paint and compare.
