  1. One of my favourites and you did an excellent job on your Gray Ghost. Spot on, Alex! Cheers, Erik P.S. For those wanting to learn more about the Gray Gost/Black Widow II: YF-23.net

  3. Gentlemen, Being a newbie to ARC - joined just about two weeks ago - I wanted to provide you with an insight into my scale modeling portfolio. A selection of models I've finished over the past few years: PART I Saab J35J Draken, Hasegawa 1/48th + Aires cockpit set Northrop F-5E Tiger II, AFV Club 1/48th - OoB with some scratch built cockpit details McDonnell Douglas A-4M Skyhawk II, Hasegawa 1/48th - OoB except for a True Detail ESCAPAC ejection seat and CAM decals. 4. For the sake of completeness... F-4S outer slat airfoil: http://i40.photobuck...fDSCN0110-1.jpg F-4E outer slat airfoil: http://motty.hobbyvi...0_06_157-LR.jpg Video demonstrating F-4 slat operation: Erik
  5. I've just seen it on facebook. Nice idea, Panagiotis. Great job! Gotta build a Flanker... (slightly annoyed) Cheers, Erik
  6. Vandy 76, serving as dedicated aerodynamiical testbed for the new slat installation, featured a unique slat installation - both inner and outer slats were fixed. On the F-4S the inner pair of slats could be extended (see underside actuator fairings), whereas the outer slats were pivoting - no such fairings required. For illustration (with kind permission of Mr. Steve Williams): As to the airfoil, F-4S and F-4E outer slats differ significantly: the leading edge of an F-4S has a cambered underside, the underside of the leading edge of an F-4E slat is dead flat. Vandy 76 had the F-4S outer w
  7. A few years ago I was confronted with the same problem. Due to the lack of appropriate aftermarket sheets, I had to vectorise the squadron badge myself based on pictures of embroidered patches. 48th scale print size of the triangle is 0.21". If you'd like to just drop me a note and I will be glad to send you the templates via e-mail. (PNG/EPS/AI, etc.) Cheers, Erik
  8. Something's just crossed my mind... As to the manufacturing timeline, Israeli Block 40 positively coincide with early USAF Block 50/50A. Given this, some of the Block 50's structural improvements may have been carried over to the Barak II during manufacturing. Moreover, compared with their US Block 40 counterparts, the Barak's TOW is significantly higher. The presence of TEC plates on individual airframes might be the result of a "ad hoc/repair as necessary" measure based on the actual wear and tear. Cheers, Erik
  9. Good question, Eli. I'm really eager to see whether somebody can shed a light on that matter. This much is clear, a few had some. At least... So far, I haven't been able to identify any consistent system in reinforcement plate intallation on Barak II A/C, though. "506" had only the rear H-shaped stiffeners in 2004, the same for "512" plus strengthening plates at the stabilizer roots in 2008. In 2013 "525" was completely devoid of fuselage stiffeners, only depicting the stabilizer root strengthening plates. Cheers, Erik
  10. You're welcome. The paradigmatic exception to the rule. Erik
  11. Admittedly, it's a very rare feature. Anyway, there's photographic material furnishing evidence. 12. Yes, your assumption is correct. Considering the fact that Gunze positively offers a dedicated RLM66 paint, H416, RLM66 Schwarzgrau, CH's suggestion to mix colours seems quite odd to me. Former TAMIYA employee at work? Cheers, Erik
  13. Affirmative! As to the ML and MLD, Trumpeter's overall (yet simplified) rendition of the landing gear is fairly accurate. The ML oleo features both the wheel-centering/anti-shimmy device and the MRK-32.25 wheel steering hydraulics. Check! Also, the overall "sitting posture" is largely prototypical - only a slight tail-sitting tendency. Check! Scanned from Trumpeter's assembly guide: Detour - Trumpeter 48th scale M/MF: However, Trumpeter's 48th scale M/MF FLG assembly guide depicts a "hybrid" configuration - original levered suspension oleo with MRK-32.25 hydraulic wheel steering device

    Moskit Exhausts

I've just ransacked my stash but I haven't got any P-51 exhausts left. Sorry. Erik

    Moskit Exhausts

IIRC, Rexx' range of exhaust pipes covers only 1/72nd and 1/48th scale. I've got several 32nd scale Moskits in my stash, I'll look it up and get back to you ASAP. Note: the P-51 Moskits are the unshrouded ones. Erik
  16. I'm going to spend 10-12 weeks in the US for professional reasons. So I am planning to attend the 50th Anniversary Convention as a visitor, Hampton being well within a stone's throw from Leesburg. My bookshelf is in constant need of fresh fodder... Erik
  17. Snugged in sooo neatly! To my shame I have to admit that the Hun hasn't been finished yet. I started it almost six years ago and prior to moving to another home, I carefully mothballed it in a box and forgot about it over the years... Recently, (two moves later) I rediscovered the box - everything intact and complete. I'm hoping to have the Hun finished ASAP. Cheers, Erik
