  1. Thanks mate! It is finally time to enter the realm of 50 shades of grey! As we both went with different primers, we both had to adapt a different technique - Mitja with grey primer started marbling work with darker greys (MRP-100 and MRP-186) while me, with black base, went with lighter grey marbling (MRP-246).
  2. Yeah I believe Mr.Molnar was there only on Saturday and was a very sought after person, so to say. I managed to say hello to him and exchange a few words, but that was it... I am now starting to understand why US IPMS Nationals last for so many days 😄
  3. And with city center and restaurants there only 5min walk away, food and drinks were not an issue at all 🙂
  4. Yeah Gabor it was just overwhelming for me - I met so many modelling friends from all over Europe and made new ones, it was just crazy. We have to plan in advance for the next year - and possibly any ARCer that might come as well!
  5. oh yeah... I know understand why people from all over the world are returning back to it... and I will, too 😄
  6. Actually the air there was not as bad as the one with vendors on the first floor, just under the roof inside the main hall. It was sauna up there. Click on the below pic if you wanna see my article from my first ever pilgrimage to Moson.
  7. Part 4 of the Great Wall Hobby 1:72 F-14D double build with Mitja Oberč - weapon pylons and priming stage! Our both aircraft carried double Sidewinder pylons on port side and a LANTIRN pylon without Sidewinder attachment on starboard side. This meant that we had to do some additional work - remove the Sidewinder attachment on starboard side and scratchbuild the lower 'Winder adapter on station 1b. To my knowledge no kit provides this double Sidewinder adapter. The set of photos shows Mitja's work. What you get in the kit Added the lower Sidewinder adapt
  8. Part 3 of the Great Wall Hobby 1:72 F-14D double build with Mitja Oberč - the wings! You have either/either option to build the wings in clean configuration or dirtied up with deployed flaps, slats and spoilers. Mitja opted to go for clean wings configuration and unfortunately experienced quite a lot of seams due to the overcomplicated design of the wings themselves, as can be clearly seen in the photos. I went for the dirty config and while the fit wasn't as bad (some cleaning of the
  9. Looks like it is indeed a bit too tall at the RIOs side and the upper cover angle is too shallow, not dropping enough towards the pilot's seat. Wasn't aware of the slats problem - will have to check that out.
  10. I am wondering if GWH corrected the biggest mistake from their 1:72 Cats - too narrow RIO's panel. The CAD shots they used for promotion had the same error.
  11. After some exhausting days at work and a short holiday to Spain, here's a new update to this project. Intakes are moulded really nice and in one piece as you can see (slide mould technology), but as a result, you will have some slight raised edges that need to be sanded off - be gentle and you won't loose and surface details. There are two side-by-side pin marks at the bottom inner part of the intake - I did some puttying and sanding to them, just to reduce the edges but they won't be visible on the completed model anyway. There's also some texture on the inner sides of th
  12. Thanks, mate! Yeah indeed it is weird and even weirder - I have not seen being it mentioned on any previous build I have come about. And what's even worse, I checked the instructions and 3D cad renderings for their new 1:48 kit and it looks the same as in 1:72.
  13. Here we go - a double build with my buddy Mitja Oberč of GWH 1:72 F-14D Tomcat. The aim of this build is kind of two-fold - by doing a sort of mini group build, we will try to encourage each other towards the finished model but also at the same time evaluate or review the models we are building. We will both be using aftermarket decals for VF-101 Grim Reapers - Mitja will be doing the low-vis bird and me, the high vis one. Also the final configuration will be different (closed vs open wings, etc.) so the review part will be more thorough. And here is the first part of the build - as usua
  14. My first armor model in ten years and if I am not mistaken, only third in my "modelling career". Zvezda 1:72 - the fit is great and so are the details, it is only a shame that Zvezda doesn't offer the current versions as well (this one is operationally used only by Kazakhstan). 15. Excellent Tamiya model, which made me a few problems at the start of the build, but luckily, I could remedy the problem. First time using Quinta 3D cockpit decals only to realize, that there is no option of open cockpit. Oh well, at least the canopy has the clearest clear plastic I have ever seen in a model. 16. Second addition to my Battle of Midway 80th anniversary build. After some excellent 1:700 ships (and supposedly 1:72 armor), Flyhawk released their first 1:72 aircraft and they nailed it the first time. There are a few minor things like open dive flaps (upper part should be closed), wrong stencils font and supposedly slightly wrong shape of the upper cowling transition towards the windshield, this is still an excellent first effort and just yesterday SBD-2 was announced. The model represents Richard Best's aircraft just before flying to his first mission of the day, when
  17. Thank you very much, Greg! This new tool kits with their sharp moulding and panel lines, indeed appear bigger than they are.
  18. Excellent Arma Hobby model. John S. Thatch's aircraft after the first action of Battle of Midway where he shot down three Japanese aircraft. Mostly out of the box model, with just a few scratch items and a riveting job. 19. Love it! Really sharp build, especially with tricky colours and such a mod. But you've done it perfectly!
  20. How about making a diver's (surface marker) buoy? Thus you'd have a line down attached directly to the diver.
