  1. So... what better way to start 2024 than with a finished Hornet? I can't think of a better way 😉 First, there were some tiny details I almost forgot. Like the ecm bulge on the nose landing gear door. A few moments later... Proudly guestimated part. Almost correct, but I noticed that a while after I finished the entire model and was checking out some pics I still had on my computer... I was a bit afraid my masks would leave nasty glue marks on the canopy. Happy to report, almost no residue was found and almost no paint got though mas
  2. Thanks! Thanks! Actually, for me finding an error I made and tracing back to where it actually originated from, what were the factors that contributed to said error is quite important skill. I use it at work and I use it in modeling. The thing is I did read up on cockpit colours on the Sabre and this time I simply didn't think twice that gray cockpits could have gray instrument panels. This actually is my most feared error that I can't eliminate from my life. And sadly it's something that keeps happening - usually just when I loose my focus for a while. Had it been s
  3. Wow. That pretty much looks like I picture the real thing... I bet it has tiny radar cross section and drops real 1/32 scale bombs. Amazing work.
  4. Ok, so if You've seen my Mirage build, You probably know I was quite upset about the Vallejo Model Air chrome paint. It didn't dry and was quite tacky for like a week, untill I simply oversprayed it with Gunze or Tamiya clear gloss. First row from the left (knife), top to bottom Vallejo Model Air - Steel (A1), Chrome (A2), Silver (A3) Second row from the left top to bottom Vallejo Metal Color - Dull Aluminium (B1), White Aluminium (B2), Aluminium (B3). Third row from the left top to bottom Tamiya XF16 (C1), Tamiya X-11 (C2), Gunze H8
  5. Thanks ALF. They are quite nice little kits. I keep going forward with these builds. First, the neglected F-86. I glued a couple sub assemblies, such as wings, intake and I figured I should fit the airbrakes before closing the fuselage. Good call. I did struggle a bit with them as they seem to be a tiniest bit mismatched. After that I did the cockpit. It's still only partially glued as I try to match the opening of the intake with the nose piece. Ok, the photo isn't that impressive, but I really liked the detail on the instrument panel - very ni
  6. Nice work with the foil. I did try this once and was quite displeased. Mostly with my skill and handling the glue and foil.
  7. Huh, that seemed to be my most comented post in almost 10 years on ARC. Mom said popularity isn't as fun as it seems. Still, You are doing some great work with this kit. Can't wait for some more.
  8. Ok, I've hit a bit of a dry spell. I've completed the basic airframe assembly on all of the MiGs and then I kind of run out of steam to carry on. I've some sanding left to do, check the seams and add some cockpit and canopy pieces. The most time I'll probably be sanding. I've run into a pretty significant problem... It seems I didn't add enough weight to the noses of my model (or wherever I could fit it). My preliminary tests show almost all of the models to be tail sitters. Luckilly, there are some creative ways to solve that problem - some wheel chocks to move the contact point o
  9. Nice scheme, great execution. Both Tomcats look very nice.
  10. And despite a lot of them bearing similar schemes, all look totally different. Simply amazing!
  11. Very nice project. Your large models look simply stunning.
  12. Lovelly Viper. Love the shade of paint.
  13. Whoooa. These models seem to be quite quick builds... So, I thought I'd start with the MiG-17PF. I wasn't expecting much. I eventually started to build the MiG-15's first though. Not before I did some comparison shots of both -17 kits. It seems the Mistercraft kit is a bit larger than Zvezda/Dragon kit. I'm not entirelly sure that's accurate. The tailfin is a little larger too with significantly larger diameter of the exhaust. Wings are a little larger too, with more prominent kink on the leading edge. I generally have a
  14. So, ever since my attempt at building Special Hobby Mirage III and some paint trouble with metallic finish I figured I needed another go at Vallejo Model Air silver-ish colours. A smart man would do it the smart way - on a prepared piece o plastic to do some checking. But that smart man will not end up with a finished model that way. Ha! I got You there. So let's see who will be laughing in the end. For my trials, a single model will do. I have an Eduard MiG-15 waiting to be built. But I like to build models with some sort of a theme. So I'll throw in Zvezdas MiG-17 (or D
  15. That exhaust looks really nice for a plastic part. I love the cockpit work though. Are the boxes in Bay 5 from the kit? Or are they aftermarket? These circuit brakers look really nice.
  16. Ok, at this stage I'm pretty sure You migh be building the real deal. I wonder where will You manage to get four jet engines that will fit it. Very nice detail work.
  17. What a nice model. Lovelly work. You sure like them big.
  18. Wow. You B-52 looks amazing. Great work on a great beast.
  19. Your Flogger is looking great. Very nice weathering. Looks way bigger than 1/72.
  20. Thank You very much! I'm quite hooked on SH Mirage F.1's. I'm afraid I might be hooked on Mirage III's as well. Thank You very much! I hope it will grow. Thanks a lot. I'll do just that. I'm not about to give up that easilly on such a great looking finish. I've seen some comparison online about some of the Vallejo metallic paints. It showed something similar to what I achieved. I generally spray thin coats of paint, but these Vallejo metalics have a great coverage. So next time I'll try to spray them even thinner. I'll also try the Vallej
  21. And I'm happy to say, my Mirage project is done! This seems to be my favourite scheme for the F.1. And I'm pretty happy I got to build it. I chose not to add missiles, as I've seen jets from ALA14 flying mostly unarmed in this scheme, most of the time with just one fuel tank. There was apparently a 4 missile loadout possible too. This is fine though. Stuff I'm not happy about is the seamline on the nose. I've checked, and on my other single seater it's way less noticable. So next time I'll stick to building two halves with nose piec
  22. Thanks! By all means, get at it! It's a very nice kit. I know I'll build at least a couple more. Thanks! I can say a lot of bad things about Vallejo Model Air metalics, but they look amazing when sprayed. I'm going to start another project just to check if painting them in very thin layers helps with the drying.
  23. Oh that looks just lovelly. Oh man. I'm gonna have to get myself a Blackbird now. I wonder how accurate the eggplane is...
