  1. Nice work. Kinetic Hornets and Vipers always have that horrible story coming with them. But they are very much buildable despite some hickups. Seems You have handled them pretty well.
  2. Nice work. Especially considering the base kit. Love the camo.
  3. Nice work. Not a lot of Eagle trainers out there. Or actual B's and D's. Lovelly camo work.
  4. Lovelly work. I like the weathering on the weapons and the exhasut the most. Shame about the accident.
  5. I remember when I was a kid, playing Jane's F/A-18 and USAF. Betty was b..., ummm saying 'sink rate' at some points. Don't know why it keeps popping into my head when I see this. Some ejector pin marks. I was kind of waiting for the new Flash movie to get on one of my streaming services. Now I'm not. Two of the weapon bay door actuators had so much of it, that if I wanted to I couldn't really use them. I don't know where the flash ended and the part begun. Luckilly, my other three Raptors have less of it, as they are of much earlier batch. I pl
  6. Hi there. Both projects are progressing quite fast. Couple notes for the Bronco J-20 though. Overall, the kit has pretty nice, sharp detail. There are places where it has some canyon type panel lines, such as on the stabilizers, and there are some parts that are just barelly pronounced - such as these two side weapons bays doors. It provides an open lower (or main) weapons bay. It would need a bit of filler to look completely enclosed. Honestly, I don't think it would be visible once the model was complete. I will build both models totally closed off. I
  7. Hi, I'm Thaddeus and I'm an impatient kit starter. I've been wanting to build an F-22 for quite a while. Especially after building my first F-35. I guess there are better kits out there, but I could easilly and cheaply get my hands on a Revell kit so I bought one. What can go wrong? Frankly, I also wanted to build something unusual this year (hence the F-35, Su-47 as well as a J-11 and Saab Draken). So the J-20 was pretty good choice. I admit I like the J-31 better, but the only kit I know of is of a prototype. And I felt like I wanted an operational machine. There are better
  8. Lovelly work on all the detail. Nice job!
  9. Nice project. Wish I had space in my display cabinet for one of these. Some very nice work.
  10. Ok. I can't for the love of me find out what I'm doing wrong. So I'll just add the pics without text.
  11. Nice. Can't go wrong with -115. I used Hasegawa pilots on mine. They fit fine on Hasegawa seats IIRC. Not much of an update here. I managed to gloss coat the entire model and did some minor detail paining in the wheel wells. I also painted the rings by the exhaust, exhaust and all the pylon sway braces. Plus the nose cone. So pretty much all that is left is to decal the beast. Fun fact. Flaps, tailplanes, pylons and speedbrake are all just pressed into place. I absolutelly have to make a low-vis Hornet. Love the effect even if it's exaggera
  12. Part two: With my obsession of colour I tried to compare the current colour to my previous models. Here is with the one I'm most happy with, the Hobby Boss F/A-18C. The Kinetic part is the light ghost gray, while the HB model was painted with the dark ghost gray from Pactra. Here is my firts Kinetic F/A-18C with the Gunze H307 on top. And H308 on the bottom. I supose once I hit it with the matt coat it will become a little lighter. Heres the H307 again. I hope I'll manage to finish the top coat with simila hue to the one
  13. I couldn't add pics to my previous post. Apparently my lack of modelling skills broke the server or something. I'll try to split it in two. So, part one: I managed to get the basic colours down. I kind of forgot how much time does it take to paint an 1/48 model. The white spots did show through the paint a lot, so I had to add more of the basic colour. This probably obliterated the 16440/Gunze H315 preshade. Next time I'll probably reverse the order, first the hard spots, then the soft marbling. On its own I really liked how the Gunze H308 came out. I k
  14. This is actually my second attempt at putting pilots in 1/48 jet. I did it a lot of times in 1/72 though. Not an experience I'd like to repeat. It's sad how much they have to sacrifice to get the job. At the very least feet. I did have to sand them a bit in the place where I wouldn't want to have sanding stick. What markings are You going for? As for the gear bays, I didn't paint them yet. Kind of wish I did but I'm having a "airbrush_is_yuck" phase. I'm using Eduards or Aires excellent masking sponge. Or the stuff they add with some of their resin sets. It's a very nice touch
  15. Ok, I can't paint more than one 1/48 scale jet at a time. Perhaps just a first coat of sloppy black or something. It takes more time than two 1/72 scale models. Or perhaps I'm just slow. It doesn't matter though. The effect is what it's all about, right? I'll totally have to paint a model in this way. It looks so cool to me. I did first freehand layer with Gunze H315 and the second, more sharp spots with AK template with Tamiya flat white. For the love of me I can't tell the difference in colour other than sharp spots are lighter. I guess that was what I was going for, right? I might do a
  16. Oh I can't wait for some cockpit shots. Nice project.
  17. Nice one. I hope they do the MF's. Nice work on the cockpit. Love the headrest.
  18. Moving forward. Goood. Ok. Perhaps not straight forward, but forward nonetheless. The VMFA-312 jet needs not the An/AAq-38a but the Atflir pod (AN/ASQ-228). I wasn't aware Marines had them at all, but I suspect it makes sense. Navy uses them, and AFAIK, the Litening pod isn't carrier qualified. Ok, a quick check revealed I have a couple of used ATFLIR pods and two spare brand new. Apparently, Hobby Boss Super Hornets come with two pods each. Nice. It looks so much like the one in a Hasegawa Super Hornet. I did a quick check as to what's what. So, there is (fr
  19. I like how the cockpit came out - the seat is amazing. But I love the exhaust.
  20. All the pieces fall in the place. Love that last shot. Great work.
  21. Moving forward. Both the Hasegawa and Hobby Boss Hornets got their first coat of paint. I didn't order more black paint, so I had to go with a very diluted Tamiya rubber black with some dark gray. Still, looks black to me. Can You see which one I sprayed second? I'll call it the first step of weathering if anyone is asking. First coat didn't reveal much work to be done. Just a few lines here and there. I also started work on the armament of these jets. Well. Hornets don't fly with a lot of stuff, as apparent from the time period photos. The VMF
  22. That joint is probably the most discussed one on both the Tamiya and Kinetic kit. Not putting any pressure, but Kinetic joins very nicelly with just a little bit of work from the underside. Yea. I know. The CFT's really help to hide the work. But trust me. It was pretty good fit overal. Ok. Thickish panel lines help a bit here too. Can't wait for some pics 😉
  23. I still have the Tamiya Viper to build. I figured with all the stuff I've heard and seen online it would be better to first build the Kinetic Viper, and then Tamiya one. Nice project. I'm pulling up a chair. Nice clean work on the intake lip.
  24. Thanks Holmes! Thanks Mr.Happy. I'm not backing down. I've almost added another Hornet to the bunch. But that would probably cause me to loose the motivation before going to the paint booth. For the Adversary jet that I hope will be the main motivator. Back to the build. I'm doing some small stuff right now, although, as usual, they take up horrendous amout of time. I remember, why I always hated PE parts, and PE HUD's especially! I can't figure out how to do them properly and they always seem to be skewed to one side. I kind of gave up and did t
