  1. Yikes. do you have a list I can get on? Jester
  2. I'm new to this Aftermarket Decal game, and was wondering if there were ever going to be any more of the B-58 Decals in 1/48 scale? Or is this more of a one run and done sort of thing? Jester
  3. Any news on this? I am pretty curious as to the outcome. Jester
  4. Greeeeaaaaaat... Now it's stuck in my head. Jester oooommmm pa-pa oooommm pa-pa mow mow.... Gaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
  5. Is it just me or are the Kolinsky Hair Brushes pretty much not in stock anywhere? Jester
  6. Hey Netz/Curt Seeing your Sig Picture of Elvira Reminds me I need to "bust" out my Elvira Movie for Halloween. She is so awesome. Jester
  7. I still say this looks horribly like contamination. Either something in or on the model, or something in the airbrush. I don't want to::deadhorse1:/> But something went wrong. It almost looks like a wax reaction, or water, or wrong cleaner or thinner. Stick with all Alclad II products, even for a pre-clean on the Airbrush. I hope it's solvable, because that Aventador is a really nice model. Jester.
  8. I know this sounds preachy, but please make sure your Airbrush is well flushed, and the Primer is totally cured. Please let us know how it goes the second time! It's what mistakes are for. They are learning tools. Best of luck! Jester.
  9. I swear this looks like something contaminated the color coat. What did you clean your Airbrush with the time before you sprayed the Alclad II? Alclad is Very picky about what it is mixed with. It's a Lacquer and wants to be treated as such. Unfortunately, and I feel for ya, you are going to have to strip it back down to the plastic, and try again. Don't give up. Alclad II looks wonderful when it comes out right. Jester
  10. Well, looking at them, the SCR-02 is much thinner, but logically speaking a sharpened edge is, well, a Sharpened edge. With the 02 the Hefty Feel is not as pronounced, and I can get a shallow 1/72 scale panel line with the 01, BUT With the 02 having a smaller profile, and a smaller "head" or hooked end, I can get the line to be an even depth and width from end to end. With the 01 my lines tend to get shallow on the ends of the line. This could be inexperience with the tool, or it could be the size thing. They both appear to be pieces of hardened steel with edges ground into them. It looks
  11. As an addendum, like it needed one. I received my UMM SCR-02 (micro) and SCR-01 (Standard) scribing tools in the mail, and used them on some of the panel lines I was scribing/re-scribing and here is what I found. Wow. Huge Difference in control, and how it works. the lines are cleaner and not as blown-out as with the other scribing tools. The blade and hook design of the tool makes it easy to create an indentation to follow with the blade then actually scribe with either end. Both ends are pointy enough to clean out rivet holes. I also purchased the super fine saw blades. These look li
  12. Man, do I know how to kill a thread or what? I should change my name to DarkThreadKiller.
  13. Electro, Totally didn't mean to Omit you from the Real Deal List. Jester.
  14. I think it's because it's the "Haleri MIB" version. I didn't know the Men In Black used the F-104 for Alien Surveillance. You would think they would use something a little more high tech and stealthy. I'm still laughing. Jester.
  15. Guillaume, At great personal risk I'm going to say, that from looking at photos, and doing much research that the difference in the wings is not just that they are shorter/longer, but the entire wing area is smaller. So in other words, it would take more than just shortening the wing, you would have to change it's overall shape, like reduce the entire wing in size. Plus I think the boat tails are also different as well. Now I'm just going on what I can see on the internet, and what I have read. DET1460 and MrVark are the real deal, and I'm sure they will be able to tell you for sure. Jest
  16. Scribing tips from a regular guy. Note: By Regular Guy I mean I am no expert. I'm just a regular guy trying to build models, have some fun, and be creative. Doesn't mean I'm not trying, just means I'm not there...probably never will be, but it's a low priority goal. I like tips and tricks. I like to do a good job, something I'm proud of. I like to look at other peoples work and strive to be as good or better than they are. Ultimately I'm trying to have some fun. If it isn't fun, then there really is no point. I already have a job, know what I mean? Anyway: 1) Scribing=Tedium. I tr
  17. DET1460, That's most excellent, sir. I looked Plattsburg up on Wiki-mostlylies-pedia. 529th Bomb Wing FB-111's. Plus there were B-52's and KC-135's? Good to see another Airman/Prophead/wingnut. I was a specialist on F-16's 81-85. Hung around some awesome airplanes back then. Jester.
  18. What about an Iwata Neo CN? Aren't they about 30-40 bucks? Amazon Neo While I have never used one, I have heard decent things about them being a good starter brush, plus it's gravity feed, so that would teach a child not to sling the thing around, it's dual action so it's "Growable". I was thinking of getting one for myself. Of course you would need an Air Supply (I'm all out of Love?) no no no...Not that Air Supply. And Paint, and Paper (or a model!) and a mini mask for kids. Just make sure to wear yours, and draw teeth or something on it with food coloring. I have found that if you w
  19. Awesome tips/Techniques! So far i have been trying CA glue, Zap Slo-Zap gap filling CA. works very well, patience and really small amounts is the trick, and not letting it get too hard. I have been using a sewing needle with some success. I find that angle is everything. Starting the line with the needle, then using the smallest scribe tool I can find to make one or two passes, the back to the needle to clean the line after sanding. I still think I am going to blow 12 bucks on the UMM tool. There are 2, one is smaller than the other. 25 for both is doable. Putting the rivets/bolt det
  20. I totally get this... I live in the boonies. I have a USPS office not 1 mile from my house. We have "Rural" letter carriers. I have actually witnessed my carrier whip into my driveway and throw my package onto my side-porch. It's concrete by the way. Used to be the carport before the great construction of 2010. ALL of my cherished and paid for magazine subscriptions are always folded, even though I have a huge "Rural" mailbox. You could get a decent sized package in it, really. a magazine wold fit in it flat. Easily. but no. Sometimes I get the helpful yellow sticker, you know, the
  21. They/He? has a cool video on YouTube showing off that exact Scribing tool. I thought about that puppy. Makes it look sooooo easy. 12 bucks is cheap for sanity.... So far: Use super glue for filing in my mistakes, then re-scribe. Get a good quality scribing tool. Others with the same woes (misery loves Company) This is good...Very good. Jester.
  22. JackMan, I tried something similar, and I got good results, BUT, as you smooth the not so cured putty it will run into the surrounding panel lines, and then you have to re-scribe them, after it cures. Unless you can dig the putty out before it dries. But yeah, I think that is one of the better ways to fill a gap. Still had the same problem with trying to scribe that putty though. Jester
  23. Anybody ever try "Purple Power"? I understand it works pretty well. It will even remove the "Chrome" plating from plastic parts. The Model Car guys use it all the time. I think they sell it at "The Wal-Mart" It might be the same stuff that Gary is talking about. and yah, I checked they do sell it at "The Wal-Mart" Jester As always YMMV, No responsibility for explosions, rotate your tires, I Make no recommendations as to the quality...blah blah blah, lawyer speak, leagleze, blah, blah blah...Probably only happened that one time...
  24. Okay, so just straight up Super Glue for filling. Does it not get too hard to scribe/sand? I read somewhere that CA Glues actually cure harder than the plastic, maybe that's over time? I'm NOT disputing what you say, not at all, I'm just curious. If you say it works I'm trying it tonight! Jester
